Really Fun...Too Bad About Dreamcast....

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

This game was really fun. I myself love the Dreamcast system, too bad it didnt do too well. This game has definately been overshadowed by the "SSX" series for Playstation 2, which I admit is better, but this game was really fun. It has cool tracks, fun characters, and is overall a fun game to play. My favorite character is defiantely Bob the Rastafarian. This is a really fun and awesome game, with pretty good graphics. It's pretty easy to play also. Too bad this game and Dreamcast didn't do as well as they should have, but you can still get this game and Dreamcast at Amazon and other places. Check them out.

Fun for a while

Now that the Dreamcast has gone on permanent vacation, one of the things it will be remembered most for is it's awesome sports library. Rippin' Riders is not one of those games however, but it's clearly not a bad game either. UEP Systems, the developers behind the Cool Boarders series, seem to have been on a time budget to put this game together. Graphics are super smooth and look great, while the sound effects have very nice touches here and there, but control is a major issue. Not to mention now and then you'll run into a wall that came out of nowhere and it costs you valuable time to figure out what direction to go in when you get back up. Plus, after you unlock everything between hidden tracks to hidden characters and boards, there is really nothing else exciting to do in the game. All in all, Rippin' Riders isn't really a bad game, but the last time I checked it is the only pure snowboarding game for the Dreamcast, and that alone makes it worth checking out.

When I first rented the game I loved it almost as Sonic Adventure, a very good game, the only problem with it is you can't grind. Besides that, this is one of the best snow boarding games you can get. If you like pulling a Misty 900 Method in a Super Half Pipe than this is the game you will want for your dreamcast.

Cool new game!

This game has cool graphics and funky tricks. In some of the courses, they need more lighting. You can hardly see where you're going. When that happens, you run into walls and get stuck and not even a jump can get you going again. It's an okay game.

Great graphics, poor control.

This game has wonderful graphics but the tricks are way too hard to accomplish. Plus, where is the racing? All you can do is race your self. The half pipe would be cool if I new the tricks.

My kids got this game and didn't like it at all. They said the tracks were hard to stay on and were hard to see, then finding the trail again was very difficult.

Excellent graphics, annoying commentary!

Being a die hard snowboarding fan, I purchased this game. I was hoping that it would be more like Coolboarders. The graphics are superb though. The main problem I find is that most of the spins and flips are highly uncontrollable. Unlike Coolboarders. The standard moves are pretty neat, but they too get boring. I wish you could shut that announcer up without losing all the cool sounds of the game. Don't get me wrong, the game is a lot of fun, however, if I were to rate it based on playability, I'd have to give it less stars. Perhaps Rippin' Riders Two will have these standard control features. It's a real shame since this same company (UEP) also made Coolboarders. Why would they not add the same functionality?

Graphics: 9 Stars Sound: 5 Stars (Annoying commentary gets really old) Control: 5 Stars

Enjoy

I don't think this game is what it is worth but nonetheless it is fun to play. Compared to 1080, once you get used to the controls, the tricks were easy to execute. Soundtrack wasn't all that great. You can discover new boards and tracks with top rankings. All in all check this game out.

I bougth this for my eight year old son who loves this game and can't put it down. After you master a few of the coures you get new coures, new caractors, new boards, and different outfits. this keeps from getting board like other games. the other day while i was playing you find secret short cuts (of course by accident). Of course i can't put it down
