I was very excited about getting Rippin' riders, the first snowboarding title for dreamcast, but when I got it, i wish i hadn't. While yes the courses are very attractive, they take about 20 minutes to finish, and you have check points to get to, and it took me about 7 times to finish the first course. Also you can't race the next track, unless you finish the first one. But the thing I hated the most was the fact that the superpipe mode where you do tricks, was nearly impossible to do anything cool looking, and landing was near impossible, and the announcer always says the same thing, which had me at times yelling at him to shut up. So Bottom line is wait for the next snowboarding title, don't buy Rippin' Riders!
Money Wasted...I love you 1080

I tried my hardest to enjoy this game, but I failedmiserably. I had previously owned a N64 and 1080 snowboarding durringthe time I bought this, and after playing Rippin Riders I literally went out and bought a N64 and 1080 again, cause This game made me want 1080 back in the worst way. Sure the graphics are awsome and the frame rate is a speedy 60 frames per second, but if your like me, graphics dont matter... Its all about the game play. This games game play isnt that great.
The charactors dont match the enviornment at all. When you think of snow boarding, you think of Black Flys Sun glasses, Speed rock, baggy pants and beanies. You dont think of A guy that dresses like Bob Marley, A DJ that wheres summer shorts in below zero weather, And Break dancers. One Of The Charactors is actually a mareine! The Charactors are lame.
As For The Music... I was very upset that each charactor is restricted to one song, and each stage you have to hear that charactors song again and again and again. So the music dosent change by stage (like It should) It changes by charactor. How lame is that? And then you got the same ol, lame ol, "dude" Anoucer that taunts you and makes you want to throw your brand new dreamcast controller through the tv. He yells things like "awww dude, your doing terrible!" and "DUDE!" "LIKE AWSOME DUDE! " See 1080 never did that.
All I can say is steer clear of this game unless you like cheesy charactors, Old Gameplay, Tiring Music and "dude" anouncers.
good enough

I don't think this game is what it is worth but nonetheless it is fun to play. Compared to 1080, once you get used to the controls, the tricks were easy to execute. Soundtrack wasn't all that great. You can discover new boards and tracks with top rankings. All in all check this game out.

Now that the Dreamcast has gone on permanent vacation, one of the things it will be remembered most for is it's awesome sports library. Rippin' Riders is not one of those games however, but it's clearly not a bad game either. UEP Systems, the developers behind the Cool Boarders series, seem to have been on a time budget to put this game together. Graphics are super smooth and look great, while the sound effects have very nice touches here and there, but control is a major issue. Not to mention now and then you'll run into a wall that came out of nowhere and it costs you valuable time to figure out what direction to go in when you get back up. Plus, after you unlock everything between hidden tracks to hidden characters and boards, there is really nothing else exciting to do in the game. All in all, Rippin' Riders isn't really a bad game, but the last time I checked it is the only pure snowboarding game for the Dreamcast, and that alone makes it worth checking out.

This game was really fun. I myself love the Dreamcast system, too bad it didnt do too well. This game has definately been overshadowed by the "SSX" series for Playstation 2, which I admit is better, but this game was really fun. It has cool tracks, fun characters, and is overall a fun game to play. My favorite character is defiantely Bob the Rastafarian. This is a really fun and awesome game, with pretty good graphics. It's pretty easy to play also. Too bad this game and Dreamcast didn't do as well as they should have, but you can still get this game and Dreamcast at Amazon and other places. Check them out.

I bougth this for my eight year old son who loves this game and can't put it down. After you master a few of the coures you get new coures, new caractors, new boards, and different outfits. this keeps from getting board like other games. the other day while i was playing you find secret short cuts (of course by accident). Of course i can't put it down
The best snowboarding game for the Dreamcast

This game definitely kills the hellish Trick Style in many ways. Strangely enough, there isn't a baseball game yet for Dreamcast.
This game offers a variety of tricks ranging from half-pipe to the backflip. The variety of characters are quite extraordinary. I am still awed by the 60 fps as well because it looks almost as good as ESPN2. Mimicing reality itself, the characters are quite easy to handle using the controller. That is unusual because most people dislike the Dreamcast controller. The virtua stick is perfect for the game I know. I highly recommend this because you could virtually do anything except scream and shout when you lost. :o)
A great showcase title for your dreamcast

Rippin Riders is fantastic in it's effort to engoss the gamer in a surreal world which in turn is incredibly detailed and cool looking. The difficulty of the game along with the annoying announcer may aggravate many gamers at first, but the gameplay and overall fun erase those bad elements immediately. A must have for any Dreamcast owner.
