this has to be the best game this year. i played the demo on Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer, and this game is awesome. its so different from thps3. now you can skitch on cars, bust new tricks, and even talk to people. when you talk to certain people, they will give you an objective. you have a time limit, but it goes away when you finish the challenge. so career mode is like a free skate, but career mode all the same. there is also a pro challenge mode, where you start off as an amateur and as you do more things you become more popular. like i said before, this is going to be the best game ever.

I've been a fan of the series since the psx version made it our way, but I must admit I kinda expected more on this release. I heard from many previews that the engine had been completely rebuilt and that we could expect massive levels, with flawless graphics. However upon the first day of play all I found was pretty much the same game as Tony Hawk 3. Not saying that's a bad thing, just more of the same. I think the spine transfers are cool, and I like the addition of skitching cars, but these weren't totally unique additions. I saw the same elements in Aggressive Inline, which I hate to say, is actually a better game overall. But don't let this deter you from the purchase. It's still a really good game, and worth the cash. Having the chance to explore the levels without a time limit almost makes this a must-have. . . Just don't expect something completely different. If you're waiting for something to really spend those last video game dimes on, go with Vice City. . .

The good:
-You are not going to get bored in this game world
-New way to activate codes
The bad:
-Unfortunately, you are trapped in this world forever
The strange:
-What's with a couple things in Create-a-Skater mode
The awards for:
-Best new move: Skitchin'
The overall:
-WARNING: DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE FULFILLED ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT TASKS. WHY? BECAUSE THIS GAME IS TOO GOOD, ONCE YOU ENTER THIS GAME WORLD, YOU WILL BE TRAPPED, FOREVER(unless you know you have to go to bed, etc.; or if someone makes you)

For all of the hardcore gamers out there, get ready... on THPS3
you would have to be really good to get a 1,000,000 points in a single run. But now in THPS4, it is required! This game would far by be one of the best. But if your not that great of a gamer and a dependant on defeating video games you should back off. What makes this game a skaters dream game is that it offers more of a challenge and it will take much longer to beat. All of the original pro's are in the game (Hawk, Callabero, Mullen, Lasek, Margera, Steamer, Campbell, Thomas, Burnquist and Renyolds) along with a veriety of new tricks and levels. The graphics havent changed a bit but the sound and chalenges are much better.
Great Skateboarding Game! Great Replay Value!

This is the newest Tony hawk Pro Skater game (Not counting Tony Hawks Underground)In this game you get to play as one of the following: Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifburg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer, and they even brought back Bob Burnquist! You can also play as a custom player. (My personal favorite is Rodney Mullen)
Unlike the first 3 THPS games, in this one you don't have a time limit to do the objectives! Instead, you just skate up to people and press circle around them and they will ask you to do something. If you don't complete the objective you just press start and choose "Retry Last Goal" and you can try it again, saving time and not having to restart the level.
I really like the levels in this game. they are challenging and fun. I love the music in this game too, in fact, one of the songs is by my favorite band!
There's not much they could do to make it better. It's got great replay value, because you'll want to beat the game with each player! And you could just go for a free ride if you dont feel like doing objectives. I think this is the best THPS game so far.

When I bought Tony Hawk 4, all I was expecting was more of the same exciting formula I had loved with 1, 2, & 3, which would have been fine. To my surprise, this sequel turns oiut to be as innovative as the original one was.The new Hawk features a much greater quantity and variety in the way of level goals to keep things interesting. Plus, now there are different types of competitions included in every level instead of a couple of levels dedicated to competition. Best of all, this one has a fully fleshed-out online mode (as opposed to THPS3's prototypical one).
Hilarious characters and in-game gags are all over the place, and there is even the addition of the "skitching" move, pioneered by Michael J. "McFly" Fox in Back to the Future (latching on to a moving car). Top it all off with better graphics and level design, and THPS4 is a definite winner and a must-buy.
Burned once again, and for the last time, by Activision

Activision has once again shown that it is far more concerned with its bottom line than with its customers.I have purchased every version of this series, and up until now have been a great enthusiast - Tony Hawk 1,2,3 being some of my favorite games for the playstation.
With this version, however, they decided to remove all but one of the 2-Player modes, for all those who do not have a network connection. Thus, my favorite play mode, HORSE (a 2 player mode of play, in which each player has a chance to one up the other until one player fouls up enough to spell the word "horse"), has been functionally stripped from the game.
Of course they did this so that these alternate game modes require multiple copies of the game rather than just the one. More money for them, at the expense of their customers. I for one absolutely hate it when companies use such shady practices to boost sales. Aren't you supposed to gain features when you buy a SEQUEL.
SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A BETTER GAME, and in the process punish Activision for their unsavory business practices.

tony hawk's pro skater 4 is great! For starters: the graphics are improved, mostly by the fact that you can get your knees and elbows scraped up more and more, and that your clothes actually flap in the wind when you are in the air. Other little touches include: scratched up board graphics after grinding, torn up clothes after a few bails. sound: the sound is improved quite a bit by tons of voiceovers, but that don't really match the mouths (they don't even move), but who cares there are so many voiceovers that I haven't even come close to finding them all, and I have 163 pro points! the music pales in comparison to other games in the series, but it is still pretty enjoyable(with the exception of a few). controls: there are only two things added to the controls 1, spine transfers and 2, skitching. both are added to the controls perfectly, spine transfers are taken care of by the R2 button while skitching you just have to push forward.finally we come to fun factor, this addition to the THPS series is the funnest(and hardest) one of all. the old boring timer is gone and has been replaced by skating up to poeple who give you objectives, its at that point that the timer will start going. you also don't have to beat it over and over to unlock secret characters and cheats, this is handled by a system of money that you get by completing any objective(or by finding it lying around). completing an objective also gives you a pro point(around 190 in all). There is one other thing that affects the fun factor that is two words Mini-games! There are a bunch of mini games, like playing baseball, tennis, dodging poo, and more!
So all in all this game is fantastic! And if this doesn't convince you to buy it then you are a dumb-[head].Oh yeah one more thing, if you can't figure out how to ride around in a shopping cart like on the commercials, then do this: get I think about a hundred pro points with any character. this will unlock the pro-chalenges, then choose Bam Margera and go to the alcatraz level find the dude that always takes pictures and there you go! you'll be riding in a shopping cart in no time.
What a great game

This game is beyond great, I mean u can do a number of things ranging from doing mission requested by other skaters, bmxers, or just random people. Or if u don't want to do that, u can just skate around and recieve cash to buy new levels, secret characters, clothes, decks, movies, and cheats. U can also be up to 14 characters, which is all the characters + Bob Burnquest. HE'S BACK! Or if u don't even want to skate around u could create a character, and the options or great. Or if u don't want to do that u can build a skate park which is always fun :)...
I love this game and i also recomend it...
some of the missions are hard and some aren't,
just keep trying u will get them completed evintually
THE BEST GAME EVER!!...

This is the best game ever. It takes Tony Hawk 1,2, and 3 out of the compition. There is no more time limit. You skate around the park and find other skaters and they give you their own goals. Also the graffics are outstanding. It looks like real life. There also mini games in each level. For every goal you complete you get money and you can use that money to buy cheats, cloths, secret players, movies, and 2 different secret levels. You can also create your own level and freeride on it. You can create your own skater too. There is also a online play, but I don't know how to use it. If you liked all the other Tony Hawk games I recremend you to buy this. PEACE OUT!!...
