Best thing to happen to a Hawk game since... Hawk!

When you first boot this game up, it seems like it will be just another one of the near-identical-yet-somehow-great-every-time Tony Hawk games. But if you delve deeper than the main menu (which you undoubtedly will),you will find many significant upgrades to the definitly-getting-old Tony Hawk series.

The good:
Some very bold acts have been taken in the newest rendition of the Hawk series, from the inclusion of many different controllable vehicles, to the ability to get off your skateboard and run around in the levels. But perhaps the biggest difference is the mega-fun Story Mode. It turns out to be very interesting, instead of a gimmick like I thought it would be, with much needed additions such as cut scenes, and actual characters.

Another plus is it's overhauled Create-A-Park Mode. While it remains nearly the same as it was in previous Hawk games, it also has plenty of new items and additions to keep it interesting, and its so easy to create a goal, that this Create-A-Park mode makes it into my favorite-things-to-do list in this game.

The bad:
Oh, but this game is not all wonderful. As you will see in this section, there are also many flaws in this game.
The first one is the cars. Just because you can drive cars doesn't mean you'll have a great time doing it. You see, since this game was developed as a skateboarding game, it's physics just aren't suited for driving cars. As your car leaves the ramp when going off a jump, it seems as though it has just entered a zero-gravity zone, which is fine if you're catching big air on a skateboard, but isn't OK if you happen to be driving a car, since it slows you down a lot. It also seems like kind of a gimmick, because the steering is stiff, and in many instances it just doesn't turn quick enough or sharp enough.
Another annoying plague is the camera while in walk mode. You have to constantly keep readjusting it to be able to see in front of you.

And the ugly:
The ugly would be the people that you place around parks in Create-A-Goal mode so you can talk to them to activate a goal. The game randomly selects 1 of 2 dudes that look like rejects for the default character design selected when you enter story mode.

Overall:
All things considered, this is still a great game even with the minor faults, and deserves a place in any Plastation 2 owners' library of games.

A friend of my brother lent me tony hawk pro skater 2 and of course I had to go out and buy Tony Hawk Underground. I'ts a good game. It's really good cause you can create your own skater, like I've already made a pirate! The graphics are the best I've seen for PS2, It's very easy to skate around your city, which there are lots to chose from like New Jersey, San Diego... And the multiplayer is great, with lots of different games(I always beat my bro). It's really a game worth buying.

This game is not good for chidren under 12 or 11

This is a good game playing 2 player but the missions are not good for 11 year olds and under because in the mission are bad in one way: there is kids that are drugged up and they are in the game alot.(In the first place) The good thing is thst they don't show them. Overall the game is good except with that part.

Same old Tony, More Mature Audience

"THE NEW TONY HAWK IS HERE"...and boy, what a let down. This game looks AWESOME in the commercials, but after the first 15 minutes of gameplay this game gets extremely boring.

I mean, there is a great idea behind Tony Hawk's Underground, escaping you're hometown the become a skating star. But it's got poor follow-through, Activision added all of this stuff that's unnecessary. I mean what's riding a lawnmower have to do with Tony Hawk skateboarding? And what's the reason for putting in all of the strippers and people for a mature audience, This game is not sutible for anyone, it should be rated mature.

Overview:

Fun- 7/10 Kind of cool, but gets very old.

Gameplay- 5/10, It's hard to do all of the tricks, (o,x,^ to do a heel-flip...that sucks)...Always doing the same thing.

Graphics-8/10

Difficulty-4/10 WAY too easy.

Overall- 24/40

As I've sid before, this game was a great idea that was carried out poorly. If you think you would like this game, you should RENT IT FIRST, really this game is average, if not below average, it's one of those games you beat then leave it on the shelf to collect dust, or trade it in for a better game.

Get another skating game, this game is not like the same old Tony Hawk, it's not worth the $50, and it has nearly nothing to do with skateboarding.

plus many more i dont feel like listing........
if u dont have this game get i!!! u can play it 8 times over and still have a blast with it this is a amazing game that can only be matched by another tony hawk title....

This game when you first start it is awsome how your guy works with the story moded is awsome. But after 4 times playing the entire story it gets boring. But still it is an awsome game while it lasts!

I like that you can do your own career, but you can't choose yes or no, good or evil! It is pretty cool that you can create a park, but the create a trick is not so good. The career is good, but disapointingly short. Yet I do recommend you get this game.

This game is almost too good to be true! I bought it and once I started playing I couldn't stop. You create your player, then go skate. You can download your face into your player. You can get off your board for huge combos, you can only get off your board for a limeted time to stay in a combo. You can create a trick. You can create a park and put goals in it. Beware some goals are a magnet to frustration. But another cool thing is, you can decide how hard the game is. You can choose: Too Easy. For people that are playing for the first time and have no idea what they're doing. Beginner: For people who have played a couple times and at least know what they're doing. Normal: A fun time for avrage Tony Hawk players. And last, Sick: Really hard goals for really good players. Great game! I suggest you buy it! If you like THPS4, you'll love this game.

Tony Hawks underground is very wicked. You can do things! Cool things! Hi! Tony's Underground is also called thug. You can get off your board, and into buildings and cars. You can ride on motocycles and bikes. I want it very bad. On gamepro, I saw a car on fire

If you liked the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series you will love the next and newest game. This ends the THPS series and starts a new series where you, yes, you get to become a pro skater. You can also do things off your skateboard like walk, run, climb, shimmy, and drive various vehicles. You can also fix your skateboard. I have NOT played this but have merely read about Tony Hawk's Underground on Activision's website. You can also send in a digital picture of yourself to one of the companies that helped produce the game and your pic will be in cutscenes and will be seen while skating. You will also be able to create tricks and various other things. With the extended park creator this game will rock even more. Once again, I say that this game will be AWESOME!!!
