I played this game years ago and thought it was so cool, on a demo disc. I decided to waste $50.00 on this thinking it was obviously worth a lot of money for a reason. Was it? NO! The voices are extremely corny and the music is even more corny. But forget that, the game itself is corny.. You basically just throw barrells at other characters, what's so great about that?

Powerful!!

Capcom is the king of 2D fighting games and this one shows they're well up to 3D fighting as well.

Calling this a fighting game is a bit of a misnomer. It's a brawl between four players, but instead of doing special moves and crazy combos - you have to fight strategically. All you can do is use your punch button. You use the other buttons to pick up objects and weapons around the area to fight with. And you can't block. So there's a lot of running around and shooting going on. You can also pick up 3 Power Stones and turn into this super character with special exploding moves - for a limited time only.

There are plenty of characters in this and it doesn't feature many stages, but the production has been done well enough. The graphics and sounds are both excellent - like what we've come to expect from Capcom. And the craziness surely starts with the levels.

Like the first one: You are aboard of this wooden skyship. After fighting and shooting for some time, the ship cracks and explodes. So you lot fall down the sky and duke it out while falling down. Then you end up in this fortress with cannons and tanks and everything and you continue the fight there. Most of the levels are like this. Like another one with submarines headed to icebergs. And a pyramid full of Indiana Jones-esque boobie-traps... Including the huge ball!

And although the idea and execution is great, it didn't really compell me enough to keep playing it. I've played it occasionally but I never felt like really wanting to unlock all secrets. I think 3D fighting is just not my thing. It's good Capcom aren't giving up their day job. It's a good party game though. This one is a Try before buy.

A New Power Stone That Dishes Out Pure Mayem

Four stars is pretty good when I rate a video game, but low and behold, this game is great. This series started off with the silent Power Stone which was a free roaming fighting game with interactive boards. This aint' no classical way to fight like 2D games like Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom, this is the first of its kind, and its pretty [darn] good.

Everything I hated about Power Stone has been fixed and Iam pleased to say they did a bang up job. To start with the characters would be silly since the selection is sparse and is not relevant to the whole gaming experiance. This game soley relies on using your environment to your advantage. For example, there is a gun turret on the boat, to rid of your enemies best, hop on the turret and blast them out of the water. Fun and a great alternative to fighting. In the game, Capcom added a new feature wich allowed you to buy wepons and items in the Item Shop, just like Marvel vs. Capcom with Secret Factor. The levals have been touched up with a new twist, the environments change. Yes, hard to believe but if your boat is off course, there is a possibility that it can hit and iceberg and the boat could sink and you would be forced to climb onto the iceberg. This all happens and you are still fighting.

This sequal has new characters, new [changing] environments, four-player mayhem, and new wepons and items that will make this a worthy game to buy for fans of the original. For those of you who have never tried the orginal, give it a whirl. I have two knocks on this game, one is no network play and two is its confusing with four players. These knocks are minor and so small, it dosent affect the game. Check it out, this is one not to pass up.

An engrossing title

Say what you will about Capcom's sequal making past (Look! Street Fighter 2 Alpha Plus Omega Edition 16 Squared!), they got just about everything right with Power Stone 2.

Taking a cue from the possibly over-hyped Dead or Alive 2, Power Stone 2 brings level-interactivity in a fighting game to new heights. Using a 3/4 perspective view, one can do more than strafe around an enemy or hop over them. One can do A LOT more. Such as what, you ask? Well, how about hopping into gun turrets on submarines, before they submerge, and blasting away? Or how about uprooting a pole from the ground and making a home run with the nearest enemy? Anyway, a whole new level of interactivity.

Power Stone 2 also has something for the unlocking crowd out there- an item buying and mixing mode. By playing through the game in "adventure" mode, you accumulate items, which can be then sold at the item shop. More importantly, however, is the fact that you can mix them together, and create new, never-before-seen items! You could do this for days! Weeks!

Dishing out the damage against three opponents is entertaining, and leads to some good strategy in what is otherwise a very simplistic combat engine. And it's a good thing that the combat is simple- sometimes it's hard enough just trying to figure out where your damn character is after they've been swatted with a tennis racquet.

And that is my only real problem with the game- sometimes it's hard to figure out what the heck is going on. Well, that and the occasional cheap shot from one of the bosses. Certainly nothing to cry about.

However, with entertaining characters, great gameplay, and an item costing 20,000,000 credits, which you will NEVER have, this game will stay in the Dreamcast for a long time. Certainly a great purchase.

While Power Stone 2 is good, it is missing something....

First, let me tell you about the gameplay of Power Stone 2. Controls are very good and easy to pick up, great graphics, you can combine items together to make new ones, and the levels are HUGE!!!! You can unlock hidden levels, and get new items from single-player. This game makes a great party game. But it has it's problems. On single player, you don't have a lot of fun. You just fight people and it is very easy. In one week, I have unlocked all the hidden characters, and got all the weapons. NOW WHAT DO I DO? I play this game when my friends come over, but when they leave, I usually turn it off right away. In this game, they have the camera view from far above the level, and the camera never zooms in like in Power Stone 1, making the characters very small. What happened to the internet play??? They said it would have internet play, but they decided not to at the last minute. Too bad. I was looking forward to the internet play. Plus, there are only a few levels. They should have had a lot more.

While Power Stone 2 is a great game, I think that if Power Stone 1 went up to four players, it would be BETTER than Power Stone 2. If they ever make a Power Stone 3, I hope it is more like Power Stone 1, when in that game, you can actually see the level and the characters up close. Definitely rent or buy this game. Even with it's problems, it is a good fighting game.

THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN A GAME IN YEARS

I would recommend that you GO GET a Dreamcast JUST for POWERSTONE 2!! This game recently destroyed a party with friends because of its simplicity and appeal. Er..I mean destroyed in a good way. If you have the friends or family (and yes unlike PS1, you can play this one with Mom or little Jimmy around) then GO GET IT. The multi player is beyond description!! The single player mode is kinda flat and leaves you feeling short changed but to make up for that to can play a mayhem match with the CPU controlling the other 3 characters or collect rare weapons while you try to fight in Adventure mode.

The basic rundown:

Pros
1) MULTI PLAYER ROCKS!!!
2) Even on a rainy day with no friends around you can still enjoy a mayhem match.
3) The graphics are awesome
4) The backrounds are even bigger and badder
5) The sheer amount of weapons to find or create by mixing existing weapons is awesome
6) Two players can team up to go through the game
7) Rogue is seriously toned down to family friendly standards (good move)
8) NO MORE ONE TRICK PONY VICTORIES, you gotta fight for a win here
9) Fighting engine was reworked to make the game MORE FUN and IT WORKED
10) Adventure mode adds replay value to the single player experience
11) New characters (especially Accel) are a welcome addition.
12) Japenese voices are left intact

So why not 5 stars with so many pros? Read on

Cons
1) No character personality or good story or character endings.
2) Small number of stages (less than PS1) and stages do not reflect any character in particular.
3) Single player mode LIMITED except for Adventure Mode
4) The final boss is a waste of game memory and resources. The final boss is pathetic and demonically ugly!! The other short-comings could be over looked but this freak is sickening. My spirit is disturbed every time I see him. We could have seen a better final boss one with style and a rad multi level backround. This brought down the score more than anything else!
5) No Powerstone 3 for Dreamcast

Overall
GET THIS GAME AND A SECOND HAND DREAMCAST IT IS WORTH IT!! Buy a Dreamcast at Amazon now... games this fun that are not sports titles aren't made anymore.

If you liked Power Stone (or your kids did) this is a game you will want to add to your library. You'll like the new, sometimes bizarre weapons which add a slightly demented but fun quality to the experience. It's bazile. Get it.

Okay, I never really liked the first Power Stone. The only thing I liked about it was the gameplay and the graphics but the only thing I hated about it was the short enviroments. When Power Stone 2 came out, I've heard how it had a long replay value so I said to myself, "Hey ! Let's get this sucker !". When I popped it into my Dreamcast, I was thoroughly amazed by not only the graphics and gameplay, but its huge enviroments. These levels are so freakin' huge, it has already beaten the interactive enviroments of Super Smash Bros. ! You get to ride on tanks, shoot a gatling gun, run from a huge boulder, use a submarine's missile launchers (my favorite part), and fight two different. Bosses as huge as a giant mech. Sad thing is, there's only a short variety of levels and only three new characters (two more characters and a few levels to unlock...too bad you can't play as the two bosses). If you're looking for a multiplayer game, I pick this one up if I were you !

Explosive Four Player Fun

As a gamer who despises the split screen form of multiplayer gaming, Power Stone 2 was a great alternative. After being addicted to the first Power Stone for a long time, the next seemed like a sure thing.

The fighting in this game is incredibly simple. There are a group of 4 types of moves which are all the same for each character, including punching, kicking, picking up and throwing. In addition, each character has a super move than can be done after collecting three power stones, which is unique for each character. Although this gameplay is incredibly simple, it is really addictive when playing with friends. All this was included in the first installment.

This second installment adds a whole new level to the gameplay : four player matches. Each player attacks all the others, or you can work in teams cooperatively or against the CPU. This ads a whole new flavor, especialy when you and 3 friends take to the fight.

The arenas are huge and fully interactive with tons of things to throw and weapons to pick up and use. New weapons can also be created by combining different ones you have picked up during gameplay. Poles are everywhere that you can swing around and do more damage to your enemy, as well as a few vehicles of mass destruction. Often, levels change as you fight, such as an aircraft carrier that explodes and the fighing is continued as you plummet to the ground and then mayhem ensues as the battle is taken to land. Another level features two submarines you fight on top of as they each submerge and return to the surface, until thay reach land and the battle continues on an iceberg.

This game is a great addictive fighting game with simple controls any newbie can pick up easily and have a lot of fun with.

Simple Yet Fun

Power Stone 2 is pretty awesome! The graphics look just like the arcade! It's like Super Smash Brothers in 3D. The only thing I hate is it's lack of figting system depth. However you won't have time to notice when your playing with 3 other people!
