It is pretty fun but like the last veiwer i want a cockpit view. It isnt very well built, Lots of errors (no wonder it was only 20 bucks.)

Good, but not great.

I was excited about the release of the second version of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. I enjoyed the first one and had my expectations set very high.

When I first played the game I was very impressed. The graphics were incredible and it had a great selection of cars from the Lotus Elise to the Lamborghini Murcielago. It has some pretty fun tracks, too.

However, I was disappointed with several things in this new, talked about game. For one thing, the engine sound is very unrealistic. It sounds very tinny, making it difficult to imagine a 400-hp engine under the hood. In HP1, driving the Corvette was a blast...at high RPM, it rumbled my sub-woofer and shook the house!

In addition, the cars seem to have arcade-based physics, lacking the realism of racing. And where's the adverse road conditions? I want to race 150 mph through a dark snowy mountain pass in the middle of the night. All the HP2 tracks are either in broad daylight or early dusk. Very disappointing.

Keep in mind, though, that this is still a great game in many aspects. While it seemed I tore it apart, I still enjoyed myself a lot while playing. It has incredible graphics, and for people who aren't concerned with the things that I brought up ought to love it.

A Let Down

Not worth the wait. Game stutters, even on high-end systems. Controls a step down from Porsche Unleashed. Only consolidation is the graphics quality.

what a great game

this is the best game in all of time!! my favorite car I think is probly the Lamborghini Mercilago and its cool its real fast and kinda hard to keep on the road and you can also get a Mercilago cop!! but the ferrari f50 is cool to but the thing is the fastest is the mclaren.

What a waist of 10 bucks!

I bought this game, hoping it would be good.. Guess I waisted 10 bucks! I have an average comp with double the RAM required and a decent graphics card, and this game runs like crap. The graphics are way too choppy and it freezes my computer. I think it's a waste of 10 bucks unless you have an awesome computer made for constantly moving games like this.

A pretty big improvement over PU!

To be honest, it can be a lot improved, but at least the everything but real car control of the previous version is out! PU is just the most aweful game i have played regarding car control... U have just to add some more precious at hi speeds turn and everything will be OK. I'm really amazed what lamers have written bout this game, have u ever drove a racing car to talk such [stuff] and clain PU is a good one? I personally dont like full throttle turns, i like fast ones but not full throttle which is annoying in the track design, the car handling is nice in the slow turn, u can sometimes slide beautifully... But what it lacks are car settings! This was in NFS3 but i dunno y they removed it, there i could tune the car so beautifully so the clk-gtr was going 340kph and had perfect handling apart the brakes problem, dunno y every time i lift off the throttle it broke and when i was using the brake it was like hand brake, anyway to this version the hand brake must be a bit more realistic, i mean it has give the car more spin... Another thing i dont like is that the cars in those classes r pretty the same, trust me, there is no other car like dodge viper, this is probably the world's ill handling car, if they won the GT championship that was because of the french oreca team and the huge engine, but on the road i hate such a car, this one and the corvette is the most untechnologically advanced sports cars, so thanks to EA sports that they didnt put any of the tuning releases, they r just made for straight line "racing" or oval "racing", but they have to include the new enzo, lister storm, pagani zonda and koenigsegg ss or whatever it is written:) ooh and the porsche's handling is not accurate, 4wd drive means power on the front, so such slides are a bit unrealistic, generally the gt3 or turbo model is beating 360 modena on handling and of course the viper which is thought by them to be a whole class over them somehow?! tho it has say at most 500bhp the 911 turbo has 450bhp and is much lighter and way toooooooooooooooooooo much aerodynamicly effective...
SO if u want to have some good fights with ur friends, get it:-) my gf likes it, so its not for pro racers, but its good fun anyway!
I recently tried their f2002 but it has more problems, at the end almost everything with the settings is solved, but the car handling is not real, in F1 u cant ride the kerbs so bravely and w/o a sign of spinning wheels, the braking is not accurate, the game is made that u can easily overdrive the car, and cant brake into the corners which is big pleasure, and the feel u drive on the edge is missing, even when i talk to smb i dont mess it... My solution for F1 racing is Ubisoft games, both Monaco GP Racing simulations are perfect! they r made some 4-5 yrs ago but have all ea f2002 offers now, i mean all the settings and telemetry and better car control, but less impressive graphics, in general EA has to work a lot on the real racing feel, but their titles r the top titles! Only colin mcrae is the best rally, i have just settings remarks there and a bit more realistic turbo 4wd drive feel, oooh and no trees and stone signs on the roads!:-)

exellent game

This is a great driving/racing game on its own, and this racing game deserves merit on its own basis. However, times have changed even during the release of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, and EA should realise this by now. First, the tracks are limited to four, and you see the same tracks with the same traffic and the same environments. True, you do reverse and mirror the tracks, but the tracks are the same nonetheless. Second, I do appreciate that the cops work together and are quite aggressive, but the fact that they only pursue AGGRESSIVELY you for the most part I find kind of cheap. Even when playing multi-player, for example, the first player (e.g., first slot) always gets hunted down by the choppers and spike strips while the second one is always for the most part ignored. "Test Drive" also suffered from the same problem. Next, the tracks should have allowed more freedom via Midnight Club 2. Maybe in the future? Furthermore, there should be weather variants. Lastly, the selection of licensed cars is cool, but there is really no motivation to obtain more cars as you progress because some of the tracks the AI cars cheat, somehow avoiding cops while you are being tracked down and hunted. So ultimately, it's a hopeless quest to obtain more cars, even if you wanted to because the cops are ONLY after you. The game does a motion that the cops are after other cars, but it's a ploy. Overall, it's fun with other people around, but otherwise, stick with Midnight Club 2 for great excitement and actual variance with the tracks.
