This game's graphics are amazing! There are so many cool cars to choose from like the Mclaren F1 LM and the Lamborghini Murcielago. The handling of the cars are amazing and the tracks are really fun to drive on! This is a great game that you should DEFFINETLY get.In conclusion, YOU'VE GOT TO GET THIS GAME!!!!

Not as good as Porsche Unleashed

I initially tried playing this game without first reading the instructions, and I was very disappointed. The default camera angle is a behind-the-car view, and I couldn't find any options on the setup menus to change it. It turns out there is a keyboard command to switch to a cockpit view, which makes the game much more playable. Nevertheless, the game is not as good as Porsche Unleashed. The game is somewhat of a graphics resource hog, yet the graphics don't seem much, if any, better than those in PU. I can run PU at 1600x1200 resolution with all of the graphics options cranked to their highest-quality settings. If I try to do this with HP2, frame rates are too low and erratic to be usable. (This is with a 2.8GHz P4 and a Radeon 9800 Pro). Also, the game lacks the ability to change camera angle during replay. In PU, you could watch your race from a 3rd-party perspective. This feature was very handy in understanding why the car reacts the way it does when driven hard (e.g. when pushed into a skid). Force feedback is not as good as in PU. You get a jolt when rammed by a police car, but that's about it. In PU, you could feel the road. If you already have PU, then go ahead and get this game. If not, get PU first.

What a great game

I bought this game thinking it would be really cool. Man was I right. This game has really good graphics, which make it really fun to play, along with the haddeling of the cars. The cars in this game handel great. Though the cop chases aren't really relistic, they are realy fun to do. This game actually has good music to go along with it. I suggest that you not skip this game, and pick it up of the shelf as soon as possible.

A nearly perfect Need For Speed

When I first heard that this game is coming out, I was waiting so anxiously, thinking of many new features that would be offered in this game. Having heard positive comments from my friends who own it for Playstation 2 and Xbox, I decided to grab a copy of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 for my PC. Since I am a fan since Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit, I am familiar with the characteristic of this game. However, the very first time that I played it, I started to feel some dissapointments. First, you can't race at night. If you enjoy racing at night (like me), then you don't have an option for that. You also can not set the weather (Snow, Rain etc.) The camera views were minimized down to only 4 views from about 6 views on the previous version. On to the new features, there are so many exotic cars to choose from! The Aston Martin Vanquish, Lambborghini Murcielago, Ferrari 355 Barchetta, McLaren F1 LM, Porsche Carrera GT, Mercedes CL55 AMG, BMW Z8, and much much more. Trust me, there are lots of other good cars. The police units are Crown Victoria, Mustang Cobra R, Corvette, 911 Turbo, Ford TS 50 , HSV Coupe GTS, Diablo & Murcielago and more. The tracks got a whole new look, using the latest technology, EA was able to make them look more realistic than ever. 3D textures and other realistic environment adds to the realism of the track itself. One track that seems to be the best is Island Outskirts. For Hot Pursuit (Bad Guys), you can only play the premade missions already designed by EA, you can't choose a lot of stuff like the "Be the Cop" mode. The Knockout and Tournament from the previous version remains the same. Overall, I'll give it 8/10, shouldn't be dissapointing to most people. One last thing, you really need a nice computer for this, if you want to get the most realistic experience with Need For Speed.

Good gameplay almost makes up for everything else.

The gameplay is pretty good and fast paced. There are alot of different modes and "missions", but they aren't ground breaking. The graphics are pretty good, but the Physics and details are completely unacceptable. THIS GAME HAS NO DAMAGE SYSTEM. No matter how many times you crash, you cannot wreck your car and it will only sustain minor detail damage. YOU CAN NOT GO OFF TRACK. At points you may choose a different path, but you must always follow the direction of the race, even in free run. The cars under detailed. No auto flip up spoilers or air intakes on the Lamborghini Murcielago. On another note, when will EA get over the Mclaren F1 and Ferrari F50? Not only are these cars somewhat ugly, but niether has been produced for almost a decade. There are so many better choices of Supercars. The Koenigsegg CC S8 promises to be faster, cheaper, and better made than the McLaren is in production. The Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo, and 2003 DODGE VIPER should have been standard additions. The NEW Dodge Viper was in Project Gotham racing a year before this game came out with much better tuned handling and performance than the cars game was programmed with. The game is worth [the price]I guess.

Why do there have to be so few good racing games for PC? There are more racing wheels created every year than games. This is a big segment of the PC game market, and it's amazing that how it has been abandoned...

Phenomenal Game

At first I was concerned beacause there would be no dashboard in the inside-the-car-view but I have actually found that it would just be wasting apace on the screen, for I already sit behind a wheel. But even if one uses the keyboard, the view is great, one can see anything and everything. The gameplay is fantastic, everything you do is to attain NFS points, which you can use to select your preference of rewards, in cars and in tracks. The cars center around American Muscle and European Prestige and Power. Cars such as the McLaren F1, Ford SVT Cobra R, Ferrari F50, Lamborghini Mercielago and Diablo, plus MANY more, make the driving itself wonderful, and adapt to the incredibly detailed courses which fit everyone's definitions of "driving utopias." Being the sixth in a long line of performance games, this game fits right in at the TOP as being the best yet. The multiplayer mode is also outstanding, (and you can choose from a selection of cars that you may or not have won yet in single player mode yet! ;-) ) One only hopes that your graphics card has at least 16 MB, and also a competent 1GHZ+ processor to complement, in order to assure a smooth driving experience. Got the Need for Speed? I sure did, and I still do thanks to this game.

A Major Dissappointment

Having enjoyed all the previous NFS games, I had high hopes for this one.But it was not to be.I have a high-end system that has never chocked on a game before, but with this one, I had to lower my refresh rate to 800X600 to get any kind of reasonable frame rate. As you might guess, the graphics aren't so pretty then! The cars all feel like they are on oily roads, and of the five I have driven so far, I see hardly any difference. The AI is a throwback to the days of NFS2 or 3 when all the other drivers seem hell bent on taking you out of the race. They will ram you or cut you off if you get anywhere near them. And once you have contact with one of them, you might as well start over because you're going to the back of the pack! The exhaust sounds fake, and differs little from car to car. This is definately not a sim! If you like playing with toys, this is your game, but if you want some serious driving, look elsewhere. Maybe EA will patch this mess and make it more enjoyable, but in the meanwhile, I'm going to reload Porsche Unleashed and play through it again.

Poor Handling. Not even a good arcade game.

I suguest you skip this game. The cars have very poor handling. There is not much in the way of setup to make the cars handle better. Beside very poor graphics the police chase does not seem realistic. If you can call it a chase the police very often come onto the road in front of your car and seem to be a lot faster.

If you can find it the Jeff Gordon XS Racing is by far a better arcade game.

Good graphic but lack of respond!

I played this game for about 3 hours and still couldn't stand on the slow respond time of steeling wheel. I found out this is not from my Logitech MOMO Force Feedback (USB), it is from the game. Whenever I turn my steeling and there was a 3/4 second lag time from the game. Therefore, I had to turn my steeling before every turns to get a grip on the track. Sometimes it is very difficult to handle especially the track has many turns and a police car behind me. I used the same wheel to play with Rally Sport Challenge and it was find. If the steeling wheel respond time is better, I would add one more star but 3 stars is what I can give to this game.

A great game

My 14-old brother loves this game.
You win point and get new tracks and cars. You can be a police.
The graphics are great and you require a middle video card (ATI 7500 in my case).
If you want a funny time (and cheap) buy it
