The Graffics are cool but the game play sucks.

I have played nfs 2 and up and I would say after three they lost there momentum. The graffics there are no better, but where is the ability to jump cliffs with the car, and hide behind the fence at the gas station. If you want a cool game expirence get Need for Speed 3, they lack some graffics but make it up with the ability to jump off a cliff and land on the police.

awesome!!!!!

Didn't meet my expectations

Having played the PC versions of Hot Pursuit 1, High Stakes, and Porche Unleashed, I had very high expectations for the Xbox version of Hot Pursuit 2. However in my opinion HP2 isn't as good as the previous versions of NFS. If you've never played any version of NFS before then you may like this game. It has great graphics, racing tracks, beautiful cars but that's about it.

There are too many features left out of this version that previous versions of NFS have like:
You can't tune or upgrade your car, you can't download newer cars (Xbox), camera angles when replaying a race doesn't change (unless you change angles while racing), car doesn't take damage when you crash, cops are focused too much on catching you and tend to ignore the other speeders.

Overall I was disappointed. I was expecting something better from EA.

I like this game. It is cool cause the cars. All the Mclarens, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, and Corvettes make this game cool. But if you play it too long, you get a headache. It is worth your money

Great graphics and improvements, horrible physics

This game is by far the most visually stunning NFS out yet. The cars look fabulous and the traks are well designed and fun to drive.

EA made several improvements in the gameplay, the most signifigant being Pursuit mode. The cops are able to call in backup and a helicopter (which will drop bombs that if you hit will send your car flying) and are much smarter than the cops of old in NFS 3 and 4. However, when they fall behind, they are able to catch up far quicker than they should, which a little annoying, but it is one of the few aspects of the game that make it challenging (the AI opponents are very easy to beat).

The only real drawback of this game (and it is a big one) is the physics. The cars are very touchy to control (once you get used to it it's not too bad) and I found my car flying far too high and far when I hit something at high speeds. I also found that when the cops spin you, it is very easy to get your car stuck sideways on the guardrails.

Overall, if you don't mind the unrealistic physics, this game is worth the money if only for the wonderful graphics that they gave it. A must buy for people who enjoy arcade racing games and have a Need for Speed.

Superb Racing Game

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is an awsome racer! In this game, you must, as always, race to the finish line. But there is a twist. There are cops chasing you, and they are capable of pulling you over and arresting you. But if you don't pull over, they will DESTROY YOU.
This game has 4 options of play. Championship, a true racing expierience. Hot Pursuit, which is like championship, except with cops I mentioned earlier. Single Challenge is next. It consists of modes such as Single race, Be the cop, Knockout, Tournament, and Practice. Then there's Quick Race, where the game randomly chooses a car and track for you and soon enough, you are in the race. Great if you are in a hurry and must play one last race.
Oh, and did I mention the cars? THEY ARE AWSOME. You have Corvettes, BMW's, Fords, Dodge Vipers, Mercedes', Lamborginis, Ferraris, McLarens, and many many many more. THEY Are ALL
HERE!
Also: THE GAME IS HUGE! In Hot Pursuit and Championship, there are many races, tournaments, and events to complete. This gives you months of play.
Now for some details on Hot Pursuit Mode. In H.S. mode, as I said, cops chase you. In this mode, when you lose the cops, you get points. But soon, the cops get harder, but harder cops means more points. The cops are on a scare of 1 to 5 stars, 5 being hardest. The cops will also call in roadblocks, spike strips, more cops and...HELECOPTERS! Helecopters drop explosives which send you FLYING. There is also traffic, so in order to lose the cops, I just ram them into a bus or something...Anyway, H.S. mode is a great expierience. It is intense, thrilling, and very very fun!
The soundtrack in this game is awsome. The songs consist of a mixture between rock and rap.
The opening cinematic is awsome! It looks realistic, is action-packed, and has a good song going to it. It makes you jump up and say YEAH!

Pros:

1. Good Graphics (but not exceptional)
2. Good Sound (vroom, vroom!)
3. Great Music and Soundtract
4. Lots of stuff to do
5. Very VERY Smart AI (and I mean smart!)
6. Humorous Cop Lines ("This guy blew my doors off!")
7. Hot Pursuit is INTENSE
8. A whole lot of fast cars
9. Cool Tracks

Cons:

1. The lap announcer's voice sounds a little goofy
2. No weather levels (rain, snow, etc.)
3. Physics are o-k, not great (but it doesn't make a difference)

Overall, an awsome game. Whoever likes racing games, or, actually, whoever likes to HAVE FUN buy this game. Highly recommended. A Must-buy.

Great game . . . and yes you can use a wheel

First off let me say, yes you can use a wheel, I have a USB wheel and it works fine. Secondly there are more than just 4 tracks. I counted 12 in the game (and I'm not talking about mirrored tracks). And there is a cheat to unlock them . . .

Now let me say, I have played almost ALL of the latest driving games, F12002, Rally Trophy, Nascar, etc., and when I bought this game I thought I would just give it a try to see what it was like because it was discounted. I was not disappointed!

The track graphics blew me away! The best I have seen in any driving game. Great textures, great originality, awesome little touches like leaves falling off trees, water falls, lava, etc. And some of the tracks are really long and original. Like I said, the best I've seen in any driving game.

On to the driving . . . ok, this isn't a simulation like F12002 . . . it's arcade. No realistic damage, you can crash into walls with little or no effect. The driving is a little loose and arcade at times, but once I got used to it, I actually really liked it. You have to drive by the bumper cam to really drive well in this one.

I usually only go for simulation racing games, but this is one arcade style game that I really recommend.

Oh, and you can use some cheats on the cops, but you have to edit some of the ini files . . .

Hot Pursuit is really HOT!!

I absolutly love this game. I play it for hours a day. If you've played the demo believe me you haven't seen anything yet. This game is 100 times better then the demo and about the best racing game i've played. Sure the cops are hard to beat and there is no way to cheat but it's like real life!! No cheap you can out run the cops in 2 seconds this game takes technique amd skill. If you want a racing game then choose this one and drive one of those expensive cars you wished you had.

Disappointed from a dedicated NFS fan

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 1 / 1

I have been a big fan of the NFS series since the original NFS. I have every one of the editions in my collection. NFS 3 Hot Pursuit has always been my favourite and I still play it today, so my anticipation of Hot Pursuit 2 was huge. It sounded like it would have everything I wanted - improved graphics and sound, lots of great cars, over 20 tracks, the very fun hot pursuit mode and multi-player over the internet. Aside from the improved graphics and sound I have been disappointed on every one of the other promised features.

The cars - the game comes with a reasonable number of cars but you can't add any more. All you can do is customize their paint jobs. I have over 100 NFS 3 cars installed, everything from F1 racers to Golf GTI's. And when you play over the net, the only cars you will be playing with are the McLaren F1 LM and Merc CLK GTR and maybe the Ferrari F50 - so end up with 3 cars that you actually use.

The tracks - There are 4 locations in the game and all the tracks consist of segments of those 4 locations. It seems like a lot for the first hour or so but then it soon becomes just 4 tracks. The tracks themselves are rather uninteresting too. The only good thing thats new is the proliferation of shortcuts and alternate routes. This has been very well implemented into the game.

Hot Pursuit - I think EA should be ashamed to have even called this game Hot Pursuit. It's pathetic. Way worse than in NFS 3. It is so easy to avoid the cops in this game, and when you're playing the cop the only way to catch the speeders is to slam into them at high speed and knock them over. This is a big step backwards from NFS 3 where you got a genuine thrill avoiding the cops. And to add insult to injury you cant play Hot Pursuit mode on multiplayer.

Multi-player - on the plus side, the game ships with Gamespy arcade, which detects NFS6 and in no time you will be connected to an internet server and thrashing it out online. The downside is that it's only single races that you can play. No hot pursuit mode. Not even any traffic. Worst of all to me though was that you can't change the keyboard controls. You are stuck with the defaults which frankly don't suit me. This is basic stuff. I can't believe EA couldn't have even got this right.

All in all I would say this is a big step backward for the NFS series. I hope that EA will address some of these problems with a BIG patch, and not an expansion pack that we have to shell out more money for.
