Amazing. Beautiful. Phenomenal. Great. Wow...words cannot explain my feelings towards this game. It would be an injustice to not explain how great of a game this is. Areas are enormous. Graphics are exquisite. Story had me at the edge of my seat from beginning to end, but the ending pissed off the living s!#! out of me. F#@!ed up! A recommend buy and a keeper.

This is a great game. I gave it 5 stars yet I would really make it about a 4.8. Minor glitches take away from the overall experience in single player. Online deserves major props. Smooth as butter with no lag. 5 stars for online. Great game overall. A must have.

Great game but do not buy it here! I ordered one day shipping on November 9. I can understand if amazon is backordered but at least inform the customers before they buy it. Instead of recieving the product on the 10th, I will not recieve it until November 16th. I was still charged for 1 day shipping and handling instead of 7 day! Great game but don't buy here!

i just got done beating this new title from bungie called halo 2. now i have some mixed feelings about the whole thing. i just bought an xbox for this game today, and now, a short time later, i've already beaten it. on normal difficulty, yes i know, i'm a wuss. sue me. anyway, the whole game felt rushed for something that has been in development for three years or so. some of the beginning levels are fun, like the city streets one. then they start to get bland in the middle of the game, but toward the end they get better again. and a lot of the time i spent in levels from the first halo, or ones that looked exactly like them. i know it's a totally different halo this time (sorry if that ruined anything for anybody), but c'mon. same type of planet or not, take me somewhere that i haven't been. take me to a desert, or more stuff on earth, something. i got kind of tired running around a building that looked the same over and over. it gets a bit repeptitive after awhile. but, the new character you get to be brightens things up. his stealth is fun and strategic, seeing as how it lasts for only 10 seconds or so, and the swords are fun to kill enemies with.
the story was okay for a game like this, but why the hell did the freakin' developers decide it was okay to end it like they did? that was crap! it felt like the game had just got going then, hey, it's over. wait for halo 3. god damnit. i don't want to wait another frickin' decade for a game when they could have just added another five or six awesome action-packed levels where you get to be master chief and kick the rest of the brute's and elder's asses. it's like reading a book, and the last page cuts off halfway through a sentence for no reason. i don't really understand why they ended it so short. granted, i still have to go back and play it on hard and legendary mode, but that's not going to make the game end in any different spot. it's like a barber stopping halfway through your haircut and telling you, "that's all for now."
what? why? these are the questions i would like to ask bungie. if this game was in development for three years, what the hell did they put all their time and effort into? the game looks pretty good, but i've seen a hell of a lot better. sure, everything is shiny and new-looking. so what? i would definitely take a graphic downhaul for a longer game.
as for the multiplayer, i've heard it's great and all, but i have yet to try it. the first halo was a great multiplayer game, so i'm sure this one will be too.
but overall, i still have to give this game a 5 star rating. because it's still one of the best, if not THE best fps for the xbox, or any system. well, until half-life 2 that is.
as for the game's a.i. well, that's also a mixed bag. sometimes the enemies would be hiding behind a box and not move, so i just walked up to them and bashed them to death no problem. other times, and most times, they would react quite intelligently and stay behind cover and not come out until i was dead or they thought i was gone. the vehicles handle much tighter this time and it's quite a relief that i didn't have to do all the driving. the npc guys can drive, too. also, you don't have a health bar anymore, just an armor meter that recharges quite quick so long as you can stay out of the gunfire for a couple seconds. i liked this new armor meter much more than the traditional health bar. and i love the energy sword and dual guns. although having two guns really sucks when you're in a crowd and you can't seem to remember that you can't throw a grenade when you have two needlers in your palms.
the one thing that i really hated about this game, besides the crap cliff-hanger ending, is the freakin' mutated guys from the first game. the enemies with the little floating things on their faces, i hate them. they are really annoying and poorly designed, why the hell are they there in the first place. i know it all ties in to the story of the first game, but still, those enemies have been done before. i wish there were more new enemies in halo 2, like the flying bug creatures that shoot at you, or the wookie lookin' guys, though i didn't really favor them either. but that's cause they are so freakin' tough and kept kickin' my ass. but they were still cool. i'd like to see more things that crawl around on the ceilings and stuff, faster enemies, so you can't just walk into a room and shoot one after another until you're the last one standing.
well, i think i've rambled enough about this game. so i guess the choice is still up to you. but be warned, this game is not revolutionary, it's just more of the same. it's the original halo with super-shiny graphics and some new levels, that's all. and the dual wielding, sword...etc...but those are minor changes that have all been done already in other games.
so, this is a good game. not great, but it's worth the purchase. i just can't wait to go back through it with a friend in co-op mode and keep getting him killed.
i'm just glad i haven't been eagerly anticipating this game like everyone else, because if i had been, i would have been really pissed off.
I must refute the nay-sayers about Halo 2...

1. People keep complaining about the length of the campaign, and frankly, i'm sick of it. For one thing, it has about the same amount of levels as the original. Also, when I played the first Halo, I really wasn't that good to start with, but by the time Halo 2 came out, I was a veteran, and the familiarity of the controls allowed me to fly through it with near-ease (much like I do with the original Halo when I play through it now).
Suggestion: If you've beaten the first Halo on legendary (single player), then you have to try it on Halo 2. It is MUCH, MUCH harder on Halo 2.
2. Other people have been complaining about playing as the covenant too much. Personally, I like the variation, especially when you fight alongside the huge blue guys (I forget their names). You can also turn yourself invisible, which comes in handy quite a bit. It's also pretty cool to have the energy-sword wielders slashing for you.
3. Finally, some have complained about the ending. To this I say... GET OVER IT!!! I know it's a cliffhanger, but all it shows is how everyone wanted the game to go on longer because it is so unbelievably fun. I know I wanted it to go on for at least another 50 levels, but there's only so much they can cram in there.
Halo 2 is unparalleled, despite the negativity coming from people who expected the "best-game I ever could have possibly imagined ever in history!"
If you don't have it, buy it. If you don't have the money, rent it, then ask for it for Christmas.
Even better than the original

When the sequel to the greatest XBox game comes out, naturally every reviewer will compare the new game to the original, as is the case with Halo 2. The most important thing to know about Halo 2 is this: it has a lot of great new additions without losing any of the punch of the original. In fact, Halo 2 seems to have stepped it up a notch with the following:
* Opportunity to play as the Arbiter, a sort-of Covenant special warrior working for the Covenant top hierarchy. When hearing this, some may think "But Halo is all about the Master Chief, right?" The answer to that is "Yes", but I must say that playing as the Covenant warrior was one of the best add-ons in Halo 2.
* Combat on Earth, in space, and on another Halo (there are supposed to be many of them).
* Use of more vehicles for longer periods of time.
* Ability to use more Covenant weapons and vehicles.
* More firepower & weapons availability. You might think that this would make the game easier, but it seems like the combat is tougher and more intense to compensate for this.
I played the game straight through, which made it seem a little short to me. But, if you look at the list of completed missions after you complete the game, you will realize that the game is not short at all - it's so good that it seems to move pretty fast. The game ends with a sort of cliffhanger - while you will complete the Covenant mission, the Chief is last seen heading back to Earth to battle the Covenant forces there. This seems to point to the release of a Halo 3 - hopefully that game will be released faster than Halo 2, though.
All in all, I would say that Halo and Halo 2 are the best games on XBox, and they are reason enough to buy an Xbox.
You Can NOT Deny This Game !!!!!

Okay, First off, thank everything that is holy that it is FINALLY HERE !!! Now, just in case you have been living in a cave and never played, or God forbid heard, of the first halo, this is THE gaming series to get totally wrapped into. It is everything you could ask for in a game, on ANY console !! I see NO reason why everyone that playes console games can skip this one over. How could anyone give this game less than 5 stars ? I don't care if you were even let down a little bit, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ???
This game is everything you could possibly want in a shooter. Take everything you like about any shooter game you have ever played, then multiply 10 times..... Then you will get the sum of what the FIRST halo was all about. So I will leave it to the imagination on how much you will love the second chapter.
BUY IT, LOVE IT, SHARE THE EXPERIENCE WITH ANY CAVE-DWELLING FRIENDS THAT AREN'T PLAYING IT ALREADY, GET ON-LINE AND KICK SOME !@%
easily the best game of the year

definitely one of the best game I have EVER played in my 20 years of gaming.
there are some very minor glitches, but these are rarely even noticed, and most had to be searched for.
It's a direct continuation / progression from the first game. This game picks up shortly after the first ended.
The cinematics, the graphics, the gameplay itself, everything has been greatly improved.
The story is much deeper...
it's an excellent game, well worth the wait. Some people are upset that it's not exactly the same as the first game, but that's just stupid. They are BOTH incredibly great games. Oh, and dont even compare it to Half Life 2. They are both good games, but Halo 2 has MUCH better action, better, more intense gameplay, and the presentation of the story is much better in Halo 2.
oh, and the online multiplayer completely rules.
I've cleared the campaign twice, and am going through a third time, this time on Legendary difficulty. Normal was a little too easy (just a little), Heroic was perfect, Legendary is just insane, but it's doable.
Get this, I gaurantee that when it's over you'll be begging for more.
The best game ever and more

The best game ever has just got better. The limited collector's edition has the same halo 2 game in a collectable tin case plus a bonus DVD containing the making of halo 2 deleted scenes and characters Halo 1 and Halo 2 cutscenes and more. It may not make a difference to some people but it is generally up to you whether you want to pay the extra five bucks to get the limited edition. Copies of these are strictly limited and are likely to be sold out after christmas. So you can get it before christmas and you can get one of the last ones at your local game store. Good luck
Vaguely Unsatisfying

Let me square this away:
Halo 2 is a good game. It's the best xbox live game to-date. However, it's not perfect. It's not the greatest game of all time. Most importantly, the only mark it has made on history is single day sales.
That said, let's get to the bottom line about Halo 2.
The Good:
-Graphics
-A good online multiplayer setup
-Fun
-Sound/Soundtrack
-Dual Wielding is pretty cool.
The Bad:
-The Ending.
-Weapons are still unbalanced, just in a different way.
-Levels are still repetitive.
-Some Xbox live players are, for lack of a better term, annoying as sin.
-No tanks in Multiplayer (in optimatch, at least).
Some Elaboration on the Bad Points:
I will not discuss the ending, as to not spoil it. It's just bad. Really, really, really bad.
The weapons are kinda irksome. If they had left the pistol as what it was in Halo 1, it might have balanced out what they've created. The problem is the energy sword. Most of the maps have 1. Short of the rocket launcher, or a well placed grenade (and that is assuming they don't hit you from behind), good luck getting off enough shots to kill someone with the sword. Granted, if you can keep your distance, sniping is an option. Or if you're lucky the shotgun will do it, but for the most part, it's pretty unstopable. Which is annoying.
Equally annoying is the lack of tanks in the multiplayer. The tank balances out the warthog, ghost, and banshee. Without it, the only balancing item is the rocket launcher. Just seems lacking.
One big complaint in Halo 1 was the levels you had to repeat backwards. While this never happens in Halo 2, the levels themselves are internally repetitive. For example, big room, corridor, identical big room, identical corridor, slightly different big room, slightly different corridor, etc. There could definately be more variety.
Finally, while I like xbox live and the rank/optimatch system, there are a lot of annoying people on xbox live who you'll run into. It's unavoidable, and there's no real way to fix it, but it's there, so be ready for it.
Bonus DVD: While cool, it's not essential. Pretty interesting to watch, though, and makes a lot of sense of the news and delays we saw waiting for this game. But, don't watch it until you finish the game, it has plot spoilers.
Bottom Line: Good game you should probably have if you have xbox live.
