This game is very cool but it really needs help. For one thing it takes to long for the game to load so that you can acually play it.Also, during season mode you can't skip anything.Even if you want skip a match that your wrestler isn't in, you still have to sit through a strret fighter like sequence. The great thing about the game is the match line-up.Tlc,table,tornado tag table, hellinacell, ladder, special ref.ironman, special ref.1 or 2,1on2,1on3,1ontag,casket,and a whole lot more. All in all the game is great except for the loading sequence, and not being able to fully skip matches in season mode that your wrestlers aren't in.

This is everything you could want in a wrestling game. There are a lot of wrestlers ranging from Jeff Hardy to even Cactus Jack. The season mode is great they have storylines that would fit the actual WWF the have Hell in a Cell matches and they even have TLC matches.Create a player is great to with a wide selection of cloths and moves and you get new moves after you do paperviews on season so it never gets boring. This game is worth a lot more than theyre charging.

I think WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role for the original Playstation console was a really good, influential game. Oh okay, if you want to argue that the first Smackdown game was MORE influential, I can't disagree. Know Your Role is almost identical to the previous Smackdown in every single way, but with more matches and wrestlers to choose from. Normally I *hate* when a game company releases a new game with only extremely minor improvements, but I'll cut the game company some slack in this case, because there were only two Smackdown games around back then.

I can think of another reason to own this game- back when it was released in November 2000, the WWE was at the VERY top of its game in terms of popularity and TV ratings. After this game came out, the WWE began to lose its momentum and the ratings subsequently dropped, thanks mainly to the writing team not knowing which direction to take certain wrestlers and their storylines. People started getting sick of wrestling altogether, I guess. So owning Know Your Role in the year 2007 (the year I'm writing this review) can take you back to a time when the WWE seemed unstoppable.

When this game came out in the year 2000, we only had a few other 3-dimensional wrestling games available for the Playstation at the time. One of them was called War Zone, and the other was, I believe, called Attitude. Oh, and of course we had the original Smackdown. Those were all groundbreaking games, but Know Your Role offered something War Zone and Attitude didn't have- FAST GAMEPLAY. Nothing's worse than having the actual in-ring wrestling so painfully and embarrassingly slow that you just want to take the game out of the console immediately. NOTHING is worse than that. Seeing two wrestlers walk around in the ring like they're 70 years old is the most horrible thing ever. That's what the problem with War Zone and Attitude was. Know Your Role came along and changed all that with incredibly fast and realistic-looking gameplay and graphics.

My favorite match options that are available in this game would have to be the Royal Rumble and the Cage Match. Back in the day, having these matches included in a game was considered a HUGE bonus, allowing fans to appreciate wrestling games back then MUCH more than today. Those matches lost their importance as the years went by because seemingly every WWE video game in the last six years have included those special matches, and this unfortunately has given off the impression to video game and wrestling fans alike that these sort of matches HAVE to be included in ALL WWE games. It's like the only thing wrestling fans appreciate these days is having more, more and more no matter HOW unnecessary most of these extras are (no offense to anyone). Back in 2000 however, we were just happy to have them. It's called appreciate what you are given.

Unlike most WWE games, in Know Your Role you can actually win a tag-team match in a reasonable amount of time. In so many other games you have to keep spending a long period of time in a tag-team match and never really GETTING anywhere with them. Not so in Know Your Role.

The music is really awesome as well. It's fast-paced hard rock with guitar solos. The graphics are so realistic that, in a Royal Rumble match for example, everything appears EXACTLY how it would in real life. That includes wrestler entrances and the way they fight in the ring so determined to throw their opponent over the top rope in any way possible. You have to be careful how to approach a Royal Rumble match. Last time I made it all the way to the end with Chris Benoit, then Kane, who entered the ring at number 30, came in and threw me over the top rope. Sure, this made me upset, but it was all part of the fun. A good trick to winning a Royal Rumble match is to stay near the middle area of the ring at all times, if you can.

The game does have some faults. They would be:

- no commentary. No good ol' JR or Jerry Lawler or Michael Cole.

- the game actually requires three blocks of memory space to save a game. Even if you only make a few adjustments and save them to your memory card, all those blocks of memory are necessary.

- fairly long loading times between, not only matches, but loading simple things like an option screen. It's not a huge deal since this IS a 2000 game after all. It wouldn't be right to expect a flawless game.

- when you fight an opponent in the backstage area, some of the items you can pick up and use on them don't look realistic when you smack them. For example, being able to pick up a couch and throw it at your opponent is really strange-looking, not to mention the forklift doesn't really hit you. It taps against your body, and you fall over. Doesn't look good or believable. Let's ignore all these minor complaints, shall we?

The VERY best thing about Smackdown 2: Know Your Role is that the game is quite simple to play. If you want to put your opponent in a grapple, simply stand next to them and press the Circle button. To deliver a move in a grapple, simply press either Up, Down, Left or Right plus the Circle button and, JUST like that, you will be delivering the move. These are REALLY good controls that hardly ever screw you over. When your opponent is down on the mat, use the same sequence of buttons near their head or feet for even MORE moves. The Circle button is very important in this game, apparently. Running is quite simple, too. Press Triangle and the X button for a clothesline. It's so much fun clotheslining your opponent I could probably spend all day doing it.

Back in the year 2000 video game fans, including me, would LOVE doing certain power moves over and over and just having a total blast basically DESTROYING their opponents. Know Your Role is so easy and fun that you actually can keep doing the same moves on your opponent as many times as you wish, which really does a good job letting out any kind of frustration you might be experiencing that day. Was the boss giving you a hard time at work today? Come home, pick Faarooq, and keep giving your opponent the dominator or any other powerful moves. Sure, this might not be a realistic fighting strategy, but you know what? This is a good example where realism flat-out stinks and doesn't belong in a video game. Good job.

It's amazing how simple the game company made the controls when you consider all the constant fast-pace action, and they deserve a lot of credit for making the controls simple enough for anyone of ALL ages to pick up and play. It's never frustrating. Excellent job.

Oh, and let's not forget the selection of wrestlers in this game is probably one of the best ever. You have Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, Kane, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, The Rock, Triple H, and many more. At least 45, though I've never counted.

Even though I'm not normally a fan of 3D WWE games because they are all basically the same thing, this doesn't include Know Your Role. Why? Because this game is one of the originators and paved the way for the future of WWE gaming on the Playstation 2. It DESERVES to be remembered. Today, in the year 2007, I'm SICK of WWE games. But I can NEVER get sick of such an influential, fast-paced and enjoyably simple game such as Know Your Role. Pick this game up and enjoy. Remember the good ol' days.

I've seen reviews about the game and movies and screenshots and i will be first in line to buy it at toysrus. The game features some modes you could not have imagined on sd2. There is the tag team table match, ladder match, hardcore match,HIAC match, special guest referee, new ppv, etc. I also think that this game is appropriate for kids there is no blood.

THQ's WWF SMACKDOWN2! is a great because of all of the diffrent modes and wrestlers and very, very easy to use controls. Theres only a few minor complaints i have. The biggest complaint is that in Season mode you have to at least see little pictures with health bars. Other ones are just no Voice-taughting. In other words if you don't have (or don't plan on getting) a PS2 buy this game. If you do have a PS2 wait for Smackdown 3.
