Crap Down 2

Compared to WWF No Mercy, or even WCW NWO Revenge, THQ have gone a big step down for these playstation versions.

First off, the controls are stupid, on the N64 they are easy, and you know what you are doing, on the playstation they are confusing and plays more like an arcade beat 'em up then a wrestling match. And I really hate the way you do specials in this game.

The Create A Wrestler was the first thing I tried out, it's ok, but too confusing, the lists are too long and numbered instead of telling you what it is. I couldn't even find a DX shirt to put on. The music is pointless as it only shows about 5 seconds of the titantron before it cuts to the next bit, I couldn't even find half of my fave. moves, yet there in the game somewhere and you can't even pick a height, you just have tall or short instead of the actual stat.

But what really bugged me about this game is season mode. It's confusing to even start one, but it is frustrating to have to have to go through every match of the show either watching it or simulating it, i try to skip them all to the match i'm in, but it takes too long with annoying music and then takes longer to load a pointless scene saying, "whoever, had entered the building" ... big deal, why did they do this? why not just do what has been done with the other 64 games and just go from your matches next to next instead of wasting your time having to simulate every other match, with no way to skip ALL events till your match, or have you spend about 10 minutes simulating through a show that you're character is not even participating in.

this game hit rock bottom and laid the smackdown on nothing but itself. Play the N64 versions cause these games are not down with it and thats the bottom line cause I said so.

This game is better than the first because it has more wrestlers like Rikishi, Kurt Angle, Stephanie, and other players. I used to have this game but i sold it. This game is fun to play. I got this game for christmas in 2001. I sold my playstatiion 1 because i wanted playstation 2 so thats how i sold this game. So for playstation 2 i have WWF Just Bring It and Shut Your Mouth. I don`t watch wrestling as much as i used to.

Okay. But i seen better.

this was a great game. playing as new characters such as kurt angle, chris benoit, or tazz was awesome. plus the addition hell in the cell, casket match, tlc, and ladder matches are great. with a improved season mode, it is a worthy addition to the great line of wwf games.

Wwf smackdown 2 is the best game ever! It consists of over 60 wrestlers who compete in ladder matches, table matches, iron man matches, casket matches, hell in a cell matches, cage matches, and many more. In season mode you decide your destiny be you being able to respond back to the wrestlers that ask you stuff. You can create PPV's and superstars also. You may also fight other matches such as tag-team tornado matches,tag-team, one on one, hardcore, anywhere fall, handicap, king of the ring, royal rumble, triple threat, fatal four way, and battle royals. I guarantee you that this is the best game that you'll ever play.

Some GOOD things and BAD things

I have to admit the game is kinda entertaining. As far as the "create superstar" portion of the game you can do whatever you want basically, and i i like that. The gameplay is very very very easy, so controlling your wrestler wont be hard at all. The only complaint i have is that in the season mode, all the loading takes so much of your time. THQ really does need to do somethin about this with the next game they release. ... If you are a fan of the WWF then of course get the game, cause it is cool, but if you are just looking for a game....i would wait or rent it first before you buy.

Good but far from the best

Smackdown 2 is a decent game for the playstation. Its create a wrestler and its many different match types could almost make it superior to WWF No Mercy. Unfortunatly what this game excels in is lost when you hit the drawbacks. The controls are subpar. When I play with my friends it seems like whover hits the button first will win. Moves can be pulled off when you are standing up after getting knocked down. It seems like whoever gets in the first hit will win when playing with human opponents. The computer is just the opposite. Don't even bother playing in easy mode. They just stand there confused and don't attack you constantly. Watching a match in easy mode is just as excitng. When you step up to "normal," however, the AI increases and there is a challenge level that can be sastisfactory if not good. The next area that could be improved is season mode. Simulating a match is annoying because it goes to a screen to simulate a match instaed of assigning a random W or L. One load screen to get to the simulation, one to get back, and possibly another to go to the story line. All in all you will have to spend 10 minutes per show (RAW, Smackdown, Backlash, etc..) to play a match that won't last more than three minutes for veteran playstation players. The story line I'm still not sure about because I'm only about six months in to the season. Another gripe about season mode is some weeks your character (whether created or not) won't even show up but you still have to watch or skip all eight matches. An option to skip all maches would have been nice. Two more gripes about the game. All moves can be previewed except entrance taunts. It doesn't make sense and I hope that it is corrected in future games. Finally, once you name your character you can't go back and change his/her name. Now for the positive side. The choices of matches are superb. TLC, ladder, table, slobberknocker, HELL IN A CELL!, cage, and coffin matches are some ways to play. There are also 2 on 1, 3 on 1, tag matches, royal rumble. You won't get bored with these options. The create a wreslter is massive. The options are incredible with masks, tattos, accessories, clothes, weapons, and body size. You can even pick three signs to be shown in the crowd when your superstar is competing. Smackdown 2 is very addicting once you get past the problems above. If THQ can eliminate these problems, the next smackdown could easily get a five star rating! But only if they bring back commentary and 4-way cage matches!

Smackdown 2 - The Best Wrestling Game for the PSX

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 1

When I played Smackdown 1 I was pretty sure that it was wrestling heaven. I have been proven wrong.....

Smackdown 2 is not simply another wrestling game it's a game that will appeal to all PSX fans not just WWF fans. The game perfectly incoperates all the sights and sounds of the WWF without losing any of the fun and exitement. With a coice of well over 50 characters and a truck-load of different types of matches this will keep you playing for hours.

Whether it's Undertaker in 'Hell in a Cell' or winning the 'Royal Rumble' with the Rock, its total perfection. The revolutionary create a wrestler mode allows you to mould your human wrecking machine to whatever specification you might have, whether it's an enormous head, fire pants or an injured right knee, anything is possible.

If you even remotely like wrestling or beat-em-up's BUY this game, you won't regret it.

Not Bad, WWF

This game is pretty fun, plus the superstars even look like they do in real life. There is lots of modes, like the I QUIT match, the HELL IN A CELL match, ANYWHERE FALL, and TAG TEAM. There's others of course besides those. There is also season matches where you can earn hidden superstars and watch mini behind-the-scene acts, like when the interviewers ask them questions. You don't usually hear them talk though. You could also create up to about 10 stars and choose their gender, clothing attire, hair, face, moves and that sort of stuff. There's nothing really bad about the game, so if I could I would give it 4 and 1/2. I wouldn't give it five though because the graphics COULD be a little better.
