Couch potatoes beware

I bought this after reading some of these reviews, and I have to admit I was not disappointed. My husband and I had just returned from eating too much out at a restaurant, and I was feeling fat. I came home and hooked it up for the first time, and was moving in no time. The menuing is a little klunky when you first start, but the secret is to get off the mat and use the wii remote until you become more comfortable with the mat and the menus. Needless to say after a full meal, I danced for two hours, and guess what - no indigestion.

Great songs... but seriously lacking features.

First of all, DDR of any kind is amazing, and this game is no exception. I also love this music compared to previous versions--tons of new songs, and wayy better remixes of old ones. The pad included is much higher quality than pads that I have seen for PS2 versions of "Supernova" etc. However, even though I love the music and DDR in general... this edition is missing a ton of features. The normal pre-play options menu is GONE, and you only get to choose really basic options, such as turning off gimmicks and hand movements. There is no way to change the speed multiplier for the steps, which makes doing songs on "difficult" or "expert" extremely confusing because the steps are basically overlapping and hard to read. Most people I know that play DDR or ITG change the speed on every song they play... and you can't do that with this version. So, if you have a PS2, I would say DON'T GET THIS, because the options available etc. on the PS2 make it better (even if supernova is older). But if you only have a wii (or some other system that has no other dancing options), then go ahead and get this, because it is fun. I'm just saying that true enthusiasts probably won't like it that much, but it is great for beginners. Oh, and the "hand movements" are completely stupid, but luckily you can turn those off... but you have to turn them off again every time you restart the machine, because for some stupid reason, it does not save your preferences. Really a hassle.

Best Game Ever!

I knew this would be a hit with my kids, but it's way beyond my expectations. We've had it a week and my daughter has not stopped dancing. Seriously, she dances for hours a day. Last summer (different school year where I live) she was running around playing soccer/football with her friends. This year, my 12 year old has sat on the couch - too cool I guess. I certainly don't worry about her activity level after getting this game.

Another comparison, my son was desperate for Mario Galaxy. He had FINISHED the whole game in 2 days. Dance Dance has so many levels and options, I don't think they'll ever finish it.

The songs are great - all excellent and personal favorites. Even overweight Mom (me) and Daddy-who-doesn't-dance got on and had a go on beginner's level. I plan to try the 'work out' feature when the kids start school again, to save me from the inevitable mocking.

EXCELLENT GAME. Excellent value for money.

This is my first DDR purchase, we put off buying one until we had a Wii then waited for the game to come out. This has been great fun for my wife and I (both in our late 20s) and our Wii mooching friends. Not only has it been a lot of fun but its a great work out, be prepared to start sweating with this game. My only disappointment is in the very odd menus and the game settings. I really wish that the high scores could be associated with a real name and saved to the game. I mean really how much more time would that have taken to code? Over all still worth the purchase, if you got some lazy kinds this is a game for you.

We have never played DDR before, but my family is fighting for turns to this high energy, challenging dancing game! Adults are just as addicted as kids! We did turn off the hand signals and have only tried the feet. Even at the basic level, it's a challenge for all of us! We are on our 5th straight day of playing no other wii games but this! Check it out!

This is a great "game" for the Wii. It has lots of dance choices for the beginner right up to the expert! This game provides great exercise for young and old alike. You can work up a sweat and burn body fat!

This game is great at parties. Difficulty ranges from super easy to impossible. Team and competitive modes, workout and single modes. The hand markers take some getting use to.

This game is a lot of fun. It's for the Wii. I had previously played the DDR game for PS2. It's actually a little bit harder because it involves hand motions.

I would definitely recommend this game to other Wii users.

You need a nunchuck with it. I do like that the songs are songs that are on the radio. Though, the challenges are a little hard to unlock the different songs. But I'm still getting used to it.

I am a long time veteran of DDR and was excited this morning when I opened my present -a Wii DDR. The song list looked good, and the hand movement idea seemed promising. But when I started playing, I was very dissapointed. All of the songs had been DDRified, and I could not find the menu to turn speed to my usual 1.5 and the strange arrows off. There were arrows that spun, funny ones in ice, and ones that looked like bombs from previous DDR titles. To use your hands, you just sort of twitch. Not dance. I would give a more in depth review but I only played it for so long before I got annoyed with the DDRified music and the seemingly unchangable speed. Get the PS2 one if you can. I recommend DDR Max 2 or DDR Extreme. Supernova is OK too. I think this might be a good option for kids though, but for anyone older than 11, its a big NO.

This is great for your party too!

I bought this game a while ago and I love it. It is lots of fun and syill challenging at the same time. It has some great songs and whether you are a new or old player, it will still be fun for you!
