My 10 year old loves this game, and unlike other video games, he has a pleasant disposition after playing this game. If you have a child that plays video games, then you know that after an hour or two, some games affect the child's personality. This game seems to have the opposite effect, and does not bring the kid down when he puts the game down.
He wants to get the game for the other breeds, and plays this game more than the others, and believe me, he has every game known to the universe.

Well, here I am 47 yo and I'm hooked on a cyber pet game!
I think Nintendogs Labrador Retriever and Friends is not only fun but, a learning tool.
What's fun is that you quickly see that your dog develops idiosycracies as you interact with it. Even if you and a friend have the "same" dog, depending on what you do, it will differ in abilities, based on your input. I know, I have a dog that is still in the beginner stages(my fault). Someone with the same software, "same" dog is one the upper levels of show.
A tip for Novices: Pick a dog that has "even tempered" and "patient" as part of the description. "Curious", "nervous"
"shy" is not bad but, difficult for a first timer.
What's difficult: Be sure to enunciate the voice commands in distinct and unique way and remember it. This is the most frustrating aspect of the Nintendogs software. "Roll over" and "Lie" seem to be the commands dogs always understand. "Sit" and "Shake" can mix up the dog. A real bummer because your dog has to execute these commands to graduate.
Another thing to keep in mind: The dogs have to be fed 2x a day, bathed 2x a week, and walked everyday(a good way to get Puppy Swag and money). Some players may not like the aspect of having to care for a nintendog. But... if someone is bent on having that real life cute puppy...Nintendogs will educate them. I have a real life undemanding house cat and it is 10 times more demanding than any virtual pet. The demand of a puppy to house cat are the power of 10 greater. Nintendogs if nothing else is great learning tool.
Oh my god this is the most fun DS game ever.

Hi, once again back to rate your toys (...), the (...)old toy expert. This game is awsome, it lets you pick which breed of dog you want then you buy it food, toys, water, shampoo, brushes, collars, bows, and much much more. You get the dog then you teach it its name which takes quite awhile like it took my boy black lab like 20 minutes or something but it only took my girl black lab not even 5. So you walk it, clean it, brush it (etc). Its all the fun of having a dog with no mess. Once its good at catching frisbees enter it in a compotition. It can meet other dogs play with other dogs any thing a real dog can do is in this game. If your trying to play catch with your dog in the park don't go there when there are other dogs there they try to steal your frisbee. I really recommend this game.

This Nintendo DS game is by far the best game out so far. You start out at the kennel where you pick from 6 different breds of dogs. You take your dog home and then can train him, take him for walks, enter him in contests, play frisbee with him and give him baths. It doesn't really matter which version of Nintendogs you buy because all dog breds are unlockable in each game. This game is very fun and enjoyable for all ages.

Recently, i decided to buy this game. I wasn't sure about it, because i also REALLY wanted Zoo Tycoon. I'm so glad i picked this game, because it is absolutly perfect in every way. Educational, because it teaches kids the resonsibility of owning a pet - fun! - durable. This game is fun and the puppies are too cute! There are many breeds in this game. You can also get the other Nintendog games and get more breeds! I started playing this game a few days ago, so my puppy isn't the greatest yet - but i am training her! sHe is a Labrador named Libby! You can feed, brush, and play with your Nintendog! Remember to feed it, because it will egnore you! Make sure it gets alot of attention or your Nintendog will be very lonely (sounds weird, but it's the truth) When i first saw this game i thought it was amazing, and it really is! I love the idea of this game. It is not very challanging, a great game for the entire family, nothing like those other games out there with all the guns and violence! This game is perfect for everyone especially dog lovers! It's not boaring at all! I play with this game all the time now. This game requires a system called DS which has a screen on it. It comes in MANY colors like: Blue, pink, silver! Everyone in my family loves it, and my friends ADORE it! You can create MANY pets. They can be athletic pets, or show dogs. Mine will be athletic. You can win money and buy your puppy treats, toys, and clothes! The animation is adorable! it looks so realistic; it's almost like 3D!!!
As for everyone that is saying this game is going to replace REAL dogs - - grow up! I have a real dog that i love, and this one! It's just a fun, entertaining game! This is one of the best video games i have EVER played (and ive played ALOT OF THEM!!) This is truly a remarkable product in this world of video game creations! If you want a fun, friendly, totally cute video game, that everyone in the family will love - GET NINTENDOGS. The game is a card and comes in cardboard packaging. I absolutly adore this game! I just love my cute little puppy. this makes an exelent holiday gift for a pet/video game lover!
No wonder this video game is so popular! everyone at school loves this game! I love how it comes with so many adorable breeds - - - from big dogs to small dogs! This game is not TAHT expensive (it is worth EVERY penny) I KNOW youll just love this awsome cool video game if you get it! It is definetly worth five stars, but probubly worth 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 stars!!!
And this game is not just for little kids. it's for everyone of every age to enjoy! Pick your puppy, pick his name, he can even cruise around the neighbourhood and look for a friend to play with! (yes i know my review is long im just trying to add every little detail...)
I asked a few of my friends what they thought of nintendogs.
Friend 1: i LOVE nintendogs beacause it's not only fun; you can learn alot from nintendogs. This is a great way to learn how to take care of a pet before getting a real one!!!
Friend: It keeps younger sibblings (and grandma!!) entertained.
Friend 3: It helped me learn how to train my dog.
Friend 4: It is easy to play and just a ton of fun. I so recomend it!
Friend 5: **********~~~~ If you cant have a pet it's an awsome alternitive!!!!!**********
This will make an exelent gift for the holidays! Everyone always talks about nintendogs, it's very popular right now! It's a popular, fun, entertaining video game your ENTIRE family will probubly enjoy playing for HOURS every day! I have the other two nintendogs on my wishlist!
Teachers opinion of Nintendogs: I think Nintendog's is an exelent choice because it not only teaches; it is fun for everyone. It's just good plain fun that everyone can and will hopefully enjoy.
Parents opinion: Neat!
Sisters opinion: oh.
This game is sooooo much fun to play, i play it every day now! i love it! enjoy nintendogs.

Like many girls my age (12), I got the Nintendo DS mostly for this game, but let it be known that I also like games that aren't just taking care of the cute wittle puppies. I love FInal Fantasy, Zelda, and other classics. Anyway, the review:
For the first two weeks I had this game, it was heaven. The graphics were absolutely amazing, especially the realisticness of the Labrador Retriever, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi models. At that time, training wasn't hard, they usually understood the voice commands, and the agility competition wasn't hard in the least. It was fun seeing what all the new items were like, and finding out which ones your dogs were afraid of. Taking care of them wasn't hard either, except when you had to take what seemed like hours just trying to get your dog clean if it had reached the "filthy" stage.
That was then. Now, I notice that the dog's behavior is repetitive and robotic, training is hard because they get so many commands confused, it takes forever to unlock new breeds, the competitions are all impossibly hard at the championship level, and you only find like one new item a week. The dogs are still cuteish though, and it can get fun just to go on for a little while everyday.
I like the "Bark Mode" feature a lot, especially how it can store information about all the people I have connected with. You can turn your DS into an address book! Bark Mode is also helpful as it is an easy way to unlock breeds, and your comrade's dogs can teach your dog new tricks. Now my schnauzer handstands randomly!
Overall, I say this game is good if you want to play it maybe 30 min.- an hour a day, otherwise it will get boring. If you don't know anybody who owns another copy of Nintendogs, I'd really think over which version you want and which dogs are in which, because it takes a long time to unlock dogs.
Astonishing.

This is one of the most inventive and sohpisticated games to come out in years. The sheer brilliance of making the microphone on the DS the primary interactive method brings an entirely new level of immersion to gaming. This game is enjoyable, and extremely satisfying, and it is completely open ended, with no defined goal to reach. The game is both complex and simple in many ways.
The little touches, such as the variety of items that can be found, the remote control toy cars for the dogs, and the fact that the bubble blower toy works by the user actually blowing on the microphone, give the game a feeling of being so alive and vibrant.
One of the best titles of 2005.

FIrst off, that's just not going to happen. the only thing that makes nintendogs possible is the touch screen and the microphone. psp has neither, so they cannot even make a sucesful immatation of it. end of story. nintendogs is an amazing game. the graphics are GREAT and its really cool how lifelike the game is. I got the game the day it came out. I was NOT dissapointed. I think that the game would be to complicated for kids under 7, but everybody else would love this game. My parents even like it!
Surprisingly playable

I honestly thought my seven-year-old would tire of playing with an electronic dog after an hour or so. (Remember Tamagotchi -- those creepy electronic pets that we all killed a few years ago?) But he now has three dogs that he walks, trains and plays with for a few hours each week. He runs over to show me the latest trick and buys them toys while managing his money.
We recently went to a game store and participated in a Nintendogs promotion where he received a new free toy for his pets. He was thrilled!
My only complaint, which isn't really a complaint, is that we don't find many people in "bark mode" so our dogs can play together. Probably a consequence of living out in the middle of nowhere, but not a reflection on the game itself.

Ode to Nintendogs
I fell in love at Walmart
I'd heard about this game
And ever since the demo
I've never been the same
The dogs were oh so cute
The dogs were oh so fun!
And from the start I knew in my heart
That this was #1!
I saved and saved and saved some more
My weekly 6 bucks cash
Until buying DS and game separatley
Was laying in the past.
The bundle came out, I wanted to SHOUT!
The game was almost here
But punishment took its toll
and pushed it to next year!
(well, really to January 2006)
But Mom, the sweet soul,
she bought it in advance
in case supply-and-demand
never gave me the chance
So now I wait for 2 more months
(I hope that I can add!)
And wait, and patiently wait,
for the best game ever had!
