I just bought this game from Amazon.com, and I just have to say that this is a GREAT start for Resident Evil type games on the Sega Dreamcast system. Although it is no Resident evil, mind you, it has excellent strong points:
1.) Great graphics! Although not absolutely mind blowing like Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, Bass Fishing (not that I like it), or Sonic.
2.) The only Resident Evil type game for the Dreamcast that I've seen.
3.) Really fun because it's lengthy. I HATE short games! They're a waste of money!
4.) Story line is good, but not WONDERFUL, but hey, neither was Resident Evil's story line.
5.) Swearing adds to the reality.
6.) It's made by Activision. Need I say more?
OK, there are some cons:
1.) As stated above, there can be some awkward camera angles.
2.) Also stated, regenerating enemies suck, but it's not too bad because you get money for every enemy you kill, and they're not hard at all.
3.) I'm not too happy with the fact that the mouths move in Japanese and speak English, causing there to be frequent pauses between speech.
4.) Love blooms too early for reality. The guy just meets her and he's all like "She's my kind of girl, so stay away."
So, all-in-all, a GREAT start! Keep up the good work, Activision, and pump out more games for the Sega Dreamcast!
NOT A FUN GAME

This game was way to confusing and not very nice grapics. I was mad I bought this game sure wish i would of listened to the negative coments on this site. I was disappointed big time. The camera was situated in a weird place. This game was very hard to figure out and the plot and story line just wasn't that great. Save your money and buy a different dreamcast game.

Blue Stinger is the type of game that most people would appreciate if it had been worked on a little more. Unfortunatlly the game isn't as good as expected. The graphics are up to par, but the story is a little iffy here and there. The voice- over for the game is terrible and some foul language is involved. There is a lot of blood, if that's the type of game your looking for, and some parts can be rather eerie, but in my opinion, it doesn't match up to the survival horror genre like Resident Evil.
Gameplay is somewhat difficult as your character doesn't respond that well to the controls, and you can't make the character run or walk. He stays at a slow pace jog which can be frustrating at times. However, another plus for the game is the great weapon designs; but overall this game is only worth getting if you have all of the Resident Evil games and you still want something new to play.
Quality of Blue Stinger is summed up in its initials (B.S.)

I can honestly tell you that getting stung by scorpions until you turn blue is more fun than playing Blue Stinger.
This game is a complete, total waste of time. To list all the flaws in it would easily take up all the data storage facilities that amazon.com has, so I'll try to condense:
First, the story is ridiculous, so ridiculous in fact that calling it a 'story' is an abomination to the word. The game starts of with a ridiculous story (a meteor somehow causing a force shield around an island); takes place in absurd settings (an island with supermarkets that sell guns and missile launchers); and has Characters that are more shallow than a mud puddle composed of a single atom (A man actually named 'Dogs'? What were they thinking!?); all the while some angel-type being follows you around yet never helps and in fact becomes in impediment via clogging your field of vision in many a critical situation. The diologue is boring and repetitive - indeed the game would earn a second star from me if they installed a feature where a specific button could be pressed just to skip the talking. The entire plot consists of running around an island facility and performing stupid tasks, the ultimate goal of which is either to save a few idiotic survivors--who's general character is neither in-depth nor likeable--and to eventually 'find a way off the Island'. A third-person survival-type game where you fight monsters in order to get out of a place your trapped in...gee, where have I seen that oh-so 'original' type of plot before?
Another flaw is the gameplay - the entertainment value is easily outclassed by watching paint dry. Go here, get a key, use it to go get another key, which leads to a better key, yadda yadda yadda BORING! And everytime you kill an enemy they come right back as soon as you leave then re-enter the particular area where they were. This, in turn, causes you to either fight them with close range weapons--which takes longer and leaves a significant chance of you getting injured--or hit them with long range weapons, which uses up ammo. Lose health; go buy more health-regenerating items. Lose ammo; go buy more ammo. Such things take up a great deal of time. There is already enough running back and forth to begin with, but the tediousness of constantly having to get through the re-generating enemies just adds all the more to the immesurably high level of overall absurdity in Blue Stinger.
Then we have the challenge factor, which is perhaps the weakest point in the whole game. Don't get me wrong; just getting through the dreadfully repetitive go get that key and kill an enemy, go get this key and kill an enemy, repeat ad infinitum gameplay is a challenge of patience. But a challenge of skill is one thing Blue Stinger most assuredly is NOT. The enemies are predictable (and, might I add; so consistently identical looking and un-original) and can be defeated with great ease. Early on in the game you have adequate access to fantastically powerful weapons which make getting past enemies so easy that its obvious why the creators made them re-generative and densely dispersed. Virtually nothing in this game is difficult or challenging save for keeping your sanity by playing it.
... Don't buy it; check outResident Evil: Code Veronica if you want a good game.

Now whether or not you will enjoy this game depends probably on how much you enjoy Resident Evil. Blue Stinger is very similar to Resident Evil, which is why i like it. The weapons are awesome, the graphics are great, and it makes you think. I haven't completed the game yet, but when I rented it I spent about 6 straight hours playing it. So it does take a while to beat, which is a very good thing. Many people complain about the fact that the characters mouths are out of sync with the sound. WHO CARES! If thats what you are really looking for in a game, then you got problems. But on occasion the camera angles do mess up like when you are in a corner or something. Then you may not be able to see your enemies or it may spin and get you feelin quite queasy. All in all, this game rox.
I enjoyed playing this game.

I would recommend this one. The plot kept me interested through out the entire game. It's set up like a mystery/sci-fi novel. You have to solve puzzles or clues before you can move on. When you finish it you feel quite satisfied. I gave it four stars because I hear that the Dreamcast is capable of better graphics. It took me around 20 hours to complete and I recommend this title to all those who enjoy action/adventure games.
Really good and adictave game

O.k. so the game has its weak points, but it is somthing to keep you busy. It only takes about ten minuets to get used to the control of it. It is also one of the games that you have to play about 15 minuets to get into. once your into it you'll never stop playing it.

Keeping in mind that this is a first generation game for DREAMCAST I found the game playable and informative as far as the capabilities of the dreamcast. Comparing it to other first generation games it is very good. Though slightly simple for todays gamer it is still great as far as control, and gaming fun goes. The graphics are great as is the story line. The monsters needed a little more variety but still a good game for DREAMCAST.

This game was a complete waste of time and money, don't even rent this game.I have to admit that the graphics had something going there, and that the enemies were original. I thought original meant that it had to be good, obviously nobody figured that out when they created these teenagers with four arms. The game is slow and time consuming, don't waste your time or finger energy.
Probably not worth your time

Rented this from my local video store, and after playing for about 30 minutes, I have no desire to continue playing. Please keep in mind then that this review reflects that kind of knee-jerk reaction and not an in-depth experience. Coming from playing games like Soul Reaver and Resident Evil, I find the graphics in this game sorely lacking. The dialogue in the intro borders on terrible. The music is way too melodramatic, and sets the tone for thinking this game is a bit of a joke. The locations were none too compelling. About the only interesting thing about the game was the ability to switch between two characters on the fly, but even that was a bit counter-intuitive, in that the other character is with you all the time, yet you don't see him running alongside you.
This game may appeal to children. If you are over 15 years old, though, you probably won't like it. If you haven't bought this game already (one of the first to be available), there are much better titles out there.
