Chris, You can do better!

Okay.. Well I'm a hard core X-Files fan and video gamer so I do know what I'm talking about when I say that this game was not 100% satisfying. Don't get me wrong in principle, It has most of the aspects that a good game should have... including that awsome full motion video. The problem was that your Craig Wilmore. This guy kind of sucks. You don't even see Mulder and Scully until the later Cd's in the game. Plus the plot isn't really that strong for it... if your a big X-Files fan you know what I mean, other than the fact that Scully is unbelievabely HOT, I watch the x-files because they have such good story telling. If this game was turned into an episode, I guarantee it would not be one of your favorites. So to sum everything up, this is a fairly decent game, and it was intriguing as well as challenging with all the groovy detective work and following clues, but if your a big fan of the show, don't bother, get Unrestricted Access, if you've played that, sit your conspiracy-loving, mindless zombie butt down and watch some of your favorite episodes

A predictable piece o' crap

I must admit that at first the game grabbed my attention, but after a while it becomes evedent that you have no influence over the story and the only thing you are able to do is find the right clues and sit back and watch as it takes you to the next setting. For example, in one scene you have to find scully's computer. later the mole of the FBI asks for the computer. if you say "yes" the bad guys get the computer. if you say "no" then the next day the bad guys break into FBI headquarters that night and steal the computer anyway. the only thing that makes this game different from watching an eposode on TV is there are long delays between film segments durring whitch you search for the right pixel to click on to initiate the next movie clip.

I'm glad I didn't pay too much for this...

....

The first (and biggest) disappointment is that you have to play a guy named Craig Willmore. I was hoping to play Scully or Mulder. But the video shots of them were very nice indeed, though you have to wait until the end to see them.

Then, I think it is actually very weird to play at some points, because sometimes POV ends up in awkward angles. I can't explain it very well, but sometimes you are not behind your character. It seems as if the POV changes at some points. I didn't like that either.

Even after that, It was too easy. I beat the entire game in one weekend. ...

I recommend it ONLY for rabid X-Files fans. All other people will probably not be impressed.

Boring

I thought this game would be great; I'm a big X-Files fan. But it was really boring. It was just a matter of finding the right place to be at the right time; no puzzles, no actions that would affect the flow of the game. You just wander from one place to the other. It was cool to be able to interact with Mulder and Scully, but other than that, this game was a waste of time.

Very impressed...

I am very impressed with the X-Files games. I actually expected a lot less because of many saying that it was a poor game. So far, I have been impressed. Everything has impressed me, from the innovative and fun inventory, to the wonderfully executed speech menus. The game moves very slowly unfortunately, and you may find yourself frequently returning to places for clues or things you have missed. The game's puzzles never get too frustrating, but sometimes, the game can really drag because sometimes, you just simply don't know where to go next. It's easy to miss valuable information. Besides the slow pace of the game (which isn't that bad, considering it feels a lot like an X-Files episode), everything else has impressed me. The presentation of the cinemas in the game are excellently directed. Many complain that Mulder and Scully don't show up enough, but that's silly because the story of the game is investigating their disappearance! X-Files fan will not be disappointed, and adventure fans or puzzle/mystery fans will also get a pleasant experience out of this. Being an X-Files fans, I am truly pleased and impressed.

Don't get stuck!

The only problem I have had with this game is several times I have gotten stuck somewhere in the game and couldn't continue on. I even tried putting it on easy mode where it gives you hints about what you are to do next. It wouldn't even do that. After starting the game over I didn't have that problem when i reached the place I was stuck at before. Don't save your game until you know that you are not stuck somewhere in the game, otherwise you will have to start it over like me. Other than that, I thought it was a pretty neat game.

No game is perfect!

I may not be the best judge of this game, considering I'm a fan of the show, and a sucker for X - Files merchandise, but I thought it was a great game. But before I get too caught up in praising the game, I wish to point out a few minor design flaws. The game takes place over about a week, and in this time, we don't see our character eat, bathe, or even get a fresh change of clothes! All he does is wake up, go straight to work, finish working by nightfall, come home, fall asleep, you get the picture! Also, on the firsy disc, you need to discover your character's computer password. He should know it! It should be in the manual! Now, let's get to the praising. In the game, you play agent Craig Willmore, of the FBI Seattle Washington Base. Mulder and Scully are missing, and your only lead is a travel requisition for a cheap motel in Everett. The cast includes some colorful characters, and some of the show's cast as well. A fan's must have! (Even if your character isn't always the brightest!) Also, the storyline is very intruiging, and you can manipulate it with your actions. Finally, if you want to learn some fone cheat codes, check out Yahoo! If you search for them, you'll get some to send you on the floor laughing!

A pixel hunt game that held my attention!

I'll say right off that I really don't like Myst and many other puzzle pixel hunt games. However, this game really somehow held my attention. It was suprisingly fun to play and the videos were very entertaining. I do agree with others that more Mulder and Scully would have been a plus but the game was still really fun to play.

If I could live my life on the TV, I wanna be on the X-Files

The Title line says it all (stolen from a song by Danger Bob, a little-bitty but great band). If you watch the show, you will enjoy the chance to be on it. I guess it almost simulates being on the show because you DON'T play Mulder or Scully. It also simulates being on the show in the way of waiting for something to happen, although you aren't waiting for the lighting crew to set up the proper lighting, etc. You are looking for clues, and at times they are annoyingly difficult to find. The only way to progress is by finding them. There are wonderful in-jokes for the fans, and once you find Mulder and Scully, it is very exciting to have them onscreen. The story is okay, pretty much on par with this season of the X-Files. The items you use to help in the investigation make the game much more interesting and fun. The end became pretty draggy trying to figure out what to do. The sequence mid-game with X was terrific, as you get to experience again what a badass he is. Overall, thrilling but a little draggy for fans, probably a bit of a drag for non-fans.

So close yet so far

I absolutely loved this game. It has everything I enjoy about computer games and more. I'm not an X-files fan but the characters and situations were still enjoyable to me. I like the interface and inventory and overall gameplay. The one disappointing thing about the game was the possibility of dying. I counter this by being careful to save before doing anything rash. However, when I was right at the end of the game, I killed someone who, apparently, was supposed to come and help me later on. The game should not allow me to get into this no-win situation! I had come so far and now I would have to start over in order to see the end of the game. Very disappointing.
