Best game ever

I love this game. It is almost impossable to find games that DON'T have CGI in them. I don't want to play pixelated characters from a computer screen. I want to see live action actors that you can manipulate and have talk to people. This game really is a great deal of fun.

Do do DO do DOO dooooooo

Okay, you're NOT Fox or Scully, BUT they make their little appearances throughout the game as does Skinner. This was one of the first adventure games I ever played so at the time it seemed pretty difficult. In retrospect, it might seem a bit easier but still the same engrossing game. Lots and lots of investigating, searching for hotspots and all that.

Good things:
1. lengthy with strong story the whole way
2. good brain challenge
3. excellent visually and fab soundtrack
4. it ran great on win98
5. you get second chances, and thirds, fourths, fifths......

Not so good things:
1. not enought fox and dana
2. there's a shootem' up part and I'm not a fan
3. no follow-up game? what gives chris carter?

Overall, worth the effort as long as you have patience and LOVE to explore.

A good mystery game for X-Philes

This was not the best mystery/adventure game I've ever played, and I'm not even a big fan of such games to begin with, but I am a serious X-Phile. Despite the seven CDs full of Full Motion Video than make up the game, it wasn't a whole lot like being in an X-Files episode. Instead, it was more like being one of those "other agents" who make brief appearances two or three times per season. You actually have to do some of the tedious legwork to collect evidence instead of having it conveniently handed to you after the commercial break. Of course, the up side to that is a more immersive, believable feel to the game and a feeling of accomplishment when you finally do spot the crucial clue.

Fans of the series will find plenty of references to themes, conspiracies, events, and trivia from various episodes, as well as the familiar faces. While it's not strictly necessary to recognize all the references to the series in order to solve the mystery, it does add quite a bit to the game.

If you're not a fan of The X-Files, there are better mystery/adventure games out there. If you find mystery/adventure games frustrating, you probably won't like this one even if you are a fan. On the other hand, if you do enjoy both this type of game and the series it's based on, you'll have a lot of fun with this game.

A game that every X-Philo must have...

After a few seasons and a movie, Fox and 1013 Productions have decided to create a game, which keep everyone who played it, inside the paranormal-freaky-and-lovable trama of The X-Files. Filled with high-one-of-a-kind FMV, oustanding soundtrack and a more than credible history, the search for the truth wasent so fun until now.

Love the game

I really enjoyed this game. I could have used more Mulder and Scully in it. Also Skinner could have played a bigger part. The ending was a bit of a letdown but I really had fun getting there. I love this game.

Excellent !

From Start to end I couldn't stop playing this game untill I was finished. The atmosphere that the game sets makes you feel like your in the game. It's an excellent game to play in the dark. I would suggest this game to those who like and dislike X-Files. I haven't been able to find a game quite like this...

I'm glad I didn't pay too much for this...

....

The first (and biggest) disappointment is that you have to play a guy named Craig Willmore. I was hoping to play Scully or Mulder. But the video shots of them were very nice indeed, though you have to wait until the end to see them.

Then, I think it is actually very weird to play at some points, because sometimes POV ends up in awkward angles. I can't explain it very well, but sometimes you are not behind your character. It seems as if the POV changes at some points. I didn't like that either.

Even after that, It was too easy. I beat the entire game in one weekend. ...

I recommend it ONLY for rabid X-Files fans. All other people will probably not be impressed.

So close yet so far

I absolutely loved this game. It has everything I enjoy about computer games and more. I'm not an X-files fan but the characters and situations were still enjoyable to me. I like the interface and inventory and overall gameplay. The one disappointing thing about the game was the possibility of dying. I counter this by being careful to save before doing anything rash. However, when I was right at the end of the game, I killed someone who, apparently, was supposed to come and help me later on. The game should not allow me to get into this no-win situation! I had come so far and now I would have to start over in order to see the end of the game. Very disappointing.

The best game i've played in 5 yrs

Hey man, i've played a lot of strategy-games such as Full Throttle, Sherlock Holmes and stuff like that but XFiles, this game scares you, it's more thrilling. You need to make the right decision at the right time. You have only a few dialogues, but event that, you have make the right choice. For Example, you could say a dialogue that could Upset Astadourian or comfort her. You could show ur anger on Cook or make peace with him. And in the last part, you have to make a right choice when cook confronts you, you have to walk the place carefully, if you get into a room you shouldn't have, that's it, you're history. The NSA Agents, when they confront you, it will be tough for you to decide what you're gonna do if you play the game for the first time. This game, you need to use your brains to play this game man. It's not as easy as you Indiana Jones or anything. This game is hard to play, spooky and needs your brain to get involved. If you're an XFiles/STRATEGY-GAME fan, this IS THE GAME FOR YOU

Fantastic Game

Wassup, the game is the best game i've ever played. And u know what? I still haven't got bored of it. I still play although i've finished playing the game a thousand times. Another reason why i like the game is that 'coz Willmore has a lot of habits like i do as i observed in the game. Besides, the game has live environments, which is good, the Character Cook was great. The game would have been even good if Mulder had a better part to do. I mean like, i wanted to work the case with Mulder. That wasn't possible. That's the only dissapointment. Willmore Character was great. John Amis was good too. The last part of the game was just FANTASTIC. Scully was a damn irritating character in the whole game. U'll feel that if u've take a closer look at the game. Whatever. What's important is the graphics, the plot, the scary music, and the spooks, ALL OF THEM WERE JUST PERFECT. THIS GAME IS MORE THAN JUST FANTASTIC.
