As a sequel to one of the PS2's most anticipated early titles, Anubis: ZOE or ZOE The 2nd Runner, as it is known here has a lot to live up to. While the first game looked, sounded, and played terrific, it was also blasted for it's length and cliff hanger ending as well as the repetitive enemies, back grounds and sometimes confusing camera angles. Two years later, Kojima returns with a bigger badder sequel that promised to address all the complaints of the first. Does it succeed? Yep...and no. But mostly yep.
Graphics are amazing. The orbital frames look brilliant and the backgrounds are varied, since this time the game takes place in numerous places, unlike the first game being only on a space colony. Eye candy indeed, with cel shaded explosions against pretty backgrounds. This was one case where cel shading was used as an effect that is well done, and it contrasts nicely against the normal texture mapped mechs and backgrounds.
Control remains the same as the first game, and that's a good thing. ZOE has the most fluid control in a mech game and it's good that they kept the same controls...Jehuty has additional moves and they come in handy against the swarm of enemies that you will encounter. In addition to flinging enemies in numerous directions, you can now swing them around in a circle repeatedly and whip them towards another enemy. Extremely cool.
Music and sound effects are just as impressive as the first game. The opening theme song Beyond the Bounds is incredible, and worthy of a place on your soundtrack shelf. The story is deep for a mech game, and answers questions left over from the original. While some have blasted Kojima for becoming a bit too cinematic, I enjoy his games because they still are better than most of the dribble that's out there. Watching the opening movies will get you pumped up and excited, just as the intro to Metal Gear Solid 2 did. Hideo-san should be making movies too.
Ok, some minor things to mention: Not a terribly long game, but not many action games are. 5-10 hours max. Voice acting: Ok, some of it sounds good, some of it not so good...ADA's voice I have grown to like, but I still have some trouble with the others. Camera: While you can manually manipulate it, some people still complain about the camera angles...it doesn't bother me, because I have seen much worse. Those looking for High Speed Robot Action, as the game puts it need look no further. ZOE is a worthy sequel and improves upon the first in nearly every area. Oh, and two words for Konami fans: Vic Viper. You'll see what I mean.
Insanely Cool Game!

OK, Konami has hit the spot one more time for me. I have been an avid gamer since the NES came out, and I tell you what, this game is intense. The first cool aspect is the graphics. The combination of cell shading, japanimation, and brilliant use of colors make this game both exciting and amazing. The control and gameplay is also intense, with the ability to target many enemies, upgrade your orbital frame, learn new moves and level up, there is non-stop fun from start to finish. I would however recommend purchasing Zone of the Enders first, due to the fact that this story follows closely after that of the first. Konami has compelling stories, and a very good way of keeping gamers buying entire series of games. However, they do give the option for the player to look at the previous story through video clips from the first game, so if you want to spoil the other one completely you can just cheat here.
2nd Runner is a superb game, and even though i have been playing video games for over 11 years, This one makes my hands cramp and my palms sweat. Very intense, very cool. Do not pass this one up

You take on the role of Dingo Egret, a former gear pilot who suits up and pilots Jehuty, an Orbital Frame, to stop a madman from activating a destructive force.
I absolutely loved this game. You have fast paced action, with a decent storyline; I think one of the best aspects is how Konami was able to make the controls so easy to use. You have a limited amount of buttons, but you can do so many different things. Definitely worth the price.
And don't bother buying the strategy guide, I wrote a walkthrough for it. Go to Gamefaqs.com and look it up. :) My user name is FAQsimile. >:)
A superb action game

Zone of Enders 2 is a vast improvement overs its disappointing predecessor and wonderful game in its own right. Not since the original Devil May Cry have I been so impressed by an action game. Its a 3D giant robot (aka mech) combat game which does not feature the slow, tank like mechs one finds in most other games, but rather a agile, quick mech that moves with what can only be decribed as grace. The combat is dazzling. In the beginning one faces off againt a swarm of tiny robots (100 at once!). As you chop through them, bigger robots (your size) will come to challenge you, while dozens of small ones are still flitting around. And things get more hectic from there.
The gameplay is cool because it mixes shooting action with melee combat. You can lock onto a foe a fly around them, shooting from all angles. You can also lock onto dozens of foes, than unleash a storm of laser beams (an effect borrowed from the Panzer Dragoon series). If you have a couple of free seconds, you can charge up, generating a massive ball of energy which will do massive damage to the target (and anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby). You can block (for a limited period of time). You can wind up getting a frantic swordfight with an opponent, with both of you flying around looking for an opening. You can grab an opponent, use him as a shield against the lasers a second opponent is firing at you, then swing him around in a circle for a few seconds, gaining momentum, then slinging him into your 2nd opponent, which might knock both of them against a wall (which might partially collapse) or a building (which might fully collapse) doing them both extra damage. Also, one can also pick up stuff lying around (steel girders and suchlike) and start beating opponents with them. Furthermore, as one progesses the the game, one uncovers subweapons (decoys, hyperpowerful lasers, homing missiles, etc) which help keep the game fresh. Classic stuff.
There are a wide variety of game objectives. In one scene you are flying alongside a giant train, taking it apart piece by piece (and destroying all of its bodyguards in the process). In another scene you fight one on one with an opponent who alternates between fighting you in giant robot and Vic Viper (Gradius) form. It uses all of the old weapons from Gradius. That may not mean much to those who were not gaming during the 16 bit days, but its is a nice touch for those of us who remember. In another scene you are on a battlefield, trying to save and patch up wounded allies. In another scene one is trying to minimize the harm two contending forces inflict on civilians. That entails destroying one side (the bad guys) and incapacitating the other (the good guys).
The audiovisuals are as superb as one would expect from Hideo Kojima (the Metal Gear Solid series) and his team. Unfortunately, the story is also what one has come to expect from Hideo Kojima and his team, but the segments are mercifully brief and not nearly as frequent as they are in the MGS series. The well detailed graphics (they are cell shaded but still very well detailed) feature loads of little touches for players to appreciate. Lines of power glow on your robot (an effect present in the original that has been 'borrowed' by many other games since) and while the environmental is not fully destructive, much of it is, and most of those parts that are not destructible reflect damage (case in point being the fleet of massive air ships you take down at one point). The character designs are gorgeous (one is going to have a lot of flashbacks to the mechanical type enemies of MGS such as the Ninja) and the are loads of lighting effects, particle effects, and smoke clouds. Gorgeous character designs, brilliant graphics (to have such a brilliant lightshow going on as dozens of robots clash sans slowdown is a brilliant technical achievement). I also own Panzer Dragoon on the X-box, which has a much easier time of it because it is an on-rails shooter, not a free flying one as is ZOE2, yet ZOE2 boasts more impressive graphics. These guys ought to win some sort of award for technical wizardry. Of course, the music and sounds are also quite impressive, but I daresay that one will be so focused on the action that the music will not have a chance to imprint itself upon one's memory.
Downsides? ZOE2 can theoretically be completed in approx ten hours, though the is an important caveant to that. Something to keep in mind is that high intensity action games like ZOE2 derive length of gameplay from the challenge, rather than from vast worlds (think GTA3 or Final Fantasy X). Some people might find getting killed over and over as they strive to master a level frustrating. Aside from that, I can think of nothing wrong with ZOE2. In summary, Zone of Enders 2 is as compelling action game which should have a place in the library of any gamer that ocassionally just likes to blow stuff up.

This is the best game yet. 1. it has new types of jehuty's including version 2 which looks so cool and can teleport like anubis, i think version one can 2, but anubis can teleport because of tha tail he has, if you can destroy that he cant teleport. Anubis is powerful though. 2: it has new features the grab has been upgraded, you can pick up pieces of buildings poles etc. 3: SPACE BATTLES!!! finally you get to fight in space. Also Leo Stenbuck (that evil kid who was in zoe1) makes his appearence and he has his own orbital frame (vic viper) leo is also grown a little (he looks different), Ken is new and her orbital frame (Ardjet), then there is this ugly creepy guy names lloyd and his orbital frame (Inhert). Viola A.I is also new, its based on the character viola. Viola A.I is a cyborg and her frame (Nephtis) is the same. Jehuty also has a scencing mode (the cockpit turns red) where it can scence anubis. I think they are equal matched too because they are both the same (it depends on the player). Also you can pilot an ice breaker too which is slow because it is a heavy machine, but you can make it faster by dashing etc, it can't hover like jehuty can. This game is a keeper and its worth the money, so get off your chair and stop reading my review, GET IT TODAY!!!!

Ok this is way better then the first one. You can grab a guy and fly with him in your hands or use him as a weapon. The graphics are so good I thought I was playing Xbox. The storyline is actually good. With also surprising charcters like Viola. There is much more to do and the battles are much more harder. Even the little enemies are a pain. The boss are harder than ever and you actyally have to use your sheild to make it alive. What I am trying to say it is way better than the first and should be game of the year. I would say more but i don't want to ruin it for you,BUY IT AND FIND OUT.

It useless to describe this game because is SOOO popular and COOL!! but I will say the basic stuffs witch are: IMPROVED action sequences, weapons, graphics, anime, settings and intro. The bad things are: Girl not so cute, blood was tuned down and when you finish the game you will be like "Thirsty for more".
This is the kind of sequel that makes the action more important than the story!! Let's not forget the movie sequel RAMBO 2. The story is not so touching as the fist one except for the ending witch is the only part that was kind of "deep". In fact! the whole story is about improving Jehuty to be STRONG enought to beat a WHOLE army and his powerfull enemy Anubis. But anyway! this is only a videogame, this sequel is SOOO ENTERTAINING that you will play it over and over and again!!!
P.S: If you like improved action-packed sequels like this then you will love: Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 3, Tenchu 3, Contra 3, Soul Calibur 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Zelda 2, Megaman X4 and Mortal Kombat 2 or 5.
One last thing: I never understood why this game is rated "Mature" intead of "Teen", but I guess is beacuse the game contains many innocent masacres.
Exceeds the original in almost every way! A must have!

The only word I can think of after playing this game is "wow!" It makes the original Zone of the Enders look positively awful, and personally, I liked the original game, however short it was. The sound, action, effects, difficulty, and even voice acting has been given far better treatment than the first. Where Jehuty was piloted by a kid who was given the horrid voice of a whiny, stuffy-nosed brat, we now have it piloted by a hardened veteran, who is nowhere near as preachy as the first. Even the in-between scenes of this game are a marked improvement, as they are now cell animated instead of cgi, as they should have been. Still, I think that one thing that would have made this game (as well as the first) better is if the original japanese dialogue was retained. It seems to convey more realistic emotion and convictions than the english dubs. But overall, this game just flat-out rocks! The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that while it was given a better dubbing job than the first, the translation looks like it was done by a couple of monkeys who were strapped to a chair and had elementary Japanese dumped into their brains. I just had to shake my head at some of the ridiculously disjointed conversations the characters had. But it's easily dismissed, and comes out as passably comprehensible.
So overall, I highly recommend this game, especially if you've played the first. The plot is involving, the action fast-paced and challenging, and the visual effects more jaw-dropping than the original. Though it's not necessary to have played the first game, it's recommended because of the plot tie-ins. It's one of the best I've played, and I guarantee that you'll love it too.

Z.O.E is a very supreme game for gamers who love action type games. The reason for that is that the controls for Z.O.E are set well enough to give you lightning-speed capabilities.Konami is the best at making action games, in my opinion. The story was very well-sceamed and the music was a great addition to the game. Also, if one of your gamer buddys starts saying he or she can beat you or is better, Z.O.E has a versus mode that'll decide who the real master is.I beat my brother and proved I am the best. And an artistic bonus was added to Z.O.E, some scenes are cartoon animated. The graphics on Z.O.E were amazing, but still not as good as Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty.Well Konami did do a great job on Z.O.E, but my favorite game of Konami is Castlevania Symphony of the Night.Well either way, Z.O.E is a great game.Buy it now!
