Exceeds the original in almost every way! A must have!

The only word I can think of after playing this game is "wow!" It makes the original Zone of the Enders look positively awful, and personally, I liked the original game, however short it was. The sound, action, effects, difficulty, and even voice acting has been given far better treatment than the first. Where Jehuty was piloted by a kid who was given the horrid voice of a whiny, stuffy-nosed brat, we now have it piloted by a hardened veteran, who is nowhere near as preachy as the first. Even the in-between scenes of this game are a marked improvement, as they are now cell animated instead of cgi, as they should have been. Still, I think that one thing that would have made this game (as well as the first) better is if the original japanese dialogue was retained. It seems to convey more realistic emotion and convictions than the english dubs. But overall, this game just flat-out rocks! The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that while it was given a better dubbing job than the first, the translation looks like it was done by a couple of monkeys who were strapped to a chair and had elementary Japanese dumped into their brains. I just had to shake my head at some of the ridiculously disjointed conversations the characters had. But it's easily dismissed, and comes out as passably comprehensible.
So overall, I highly recommend this game, especially if you've played the first. The plot is involving, the action fast-paced and challenging, and the visual effects more jaw-dropping than the original. Though it's not necessary to have played the first game, it's recommended because of the plot tie-ins. It's one of the best I've played, and I guarantee that you'll love it too.

This Game RULES!

I got the first Z.O.E and it was so good. Although the first one had some downsides, it was still a great game. In the first one u have the worst possible idea for a boss of a game. You run away! In 2nd Runner get all the great stuff and more from the first one. For example, new mechs! If you dont agree with the new three deseighns for Jehuty, then you will definetly love the Vic Viper. Remember that kid from Antilla? Well he grew up and the Vic Vipe is his new orbital frame. I went crazy over its ripple beam. It's a hard game, so if you really like blowing things up, good luck.

My brother borrowed the DEMO version from his friend, and Im glad he did because the only word that came out of my mouth when I played it was-WHOOEY! This game is action packed, the camera angles capture the battle scenes, which are fast paced, zigzagging everywhere, and what made the game even better was the outstanding music, which sort-of sounded like Middle Eastern. The graphics are lush with vibrant colors COLORS...the storyline is interesting...

Hideo Kojima strikes again

This title is one more brilliant video game coming from the genius mind of Hideo Kojima.
Few things have changed since the first title. For start, Jehuty has now a new runner. I found the new runner even more likable and intriguing than the last one. The cutscenes are made in fashion of anime (japanese cartoons) witch is, for me, a big plus. The graphics have also changed (improved), looking more as cell-shaded game. Gameplay is similar to the previous game so it should please the players of the previous game and the newcomers. Also, I would point out that the story has also improved. I found myself more connecting with the characters and story in this title than the last one. Only flaw I could point out is the duration of the game, but then again, that might have spoiled the game in terms of the story.
But there are vs mode and unlockables for those that seak more from game.
All in all, this game is great in every aspect. If you are looking for action packed game that revolves around fast gameplay and mechas, that comes along with interesting characters and story, I think that you should pick up this title and enjoy it.

Best Game Yet

ZOE: 2nd runner is an excellent pick up for fans and noobies to the series alike. It features awesome graphics and amazing special effects. The game itself however, is only 4 hours long. If you get a lot out of it you may want to play the extra for the story again. Other than that I reccomend you rent it first. It's M rating is meaningless. There is one cut scene where you get shot, and that's it. There is no blood or gore when you are actualy playing it. No one should miss out.

don't pass this game up!!

this game rocks. the first one was ok, but this one goes way beyond. the graphis are superb. the music is great, and the action is non-stop. you really have to be creative in this one. you could button mash your way through the first game, not this one. you can engage more than the usually 3 enemies at a time. i think it turns into a kung fu flick at some points cuz you just get surrounded. the one downside this game has is the voice overs. they start to get annoying. i have yet to finish this game, but still i recommend it. a definite buy. well worth the 50 bucks. i'd like to give this game 4 1/2 stars but no such rating exists.

Best Fast-action Game

Let me say this is one of the best looking games on PS2, if not the best looking. This game in its core is a 3-D shooter/slasher game. Yes, there are good amounts of close quarter combat. The control is this game is nicely done. The music is great. This is a fast-action mech game. Do not expect any heavy slow robot action like, MechWarrior or Mobile Suit: Zeonic Front. You will attack or be attacked constantly throughout the game.

The story of the game is very good, but slightly choppy. For people who enjoy Japanese animation, you will love the cutscences. Some players believe the animation cutscence is too much, other believe the story is not detailed enough. Well, they are both correct. How? This is a very short game 5-7 hours. The animation cutscene make up a good portion of the game. Yet, the game is trying to tell a 2 hours story in 1 hour.

The only downside of this game is its short length (5-7 hours). Personally, I find good replay value in this game.

Another great game by hideo kojima

This game improved the bad stuff in the first game and further added new features. this game by far got amazin graphics especially during - beleiev it or not- gameplay. Th plot of the games is perfect and is definetly the kind of stuff you expect from one of the dierctors of all time, hideo kojima, creator of both games the metal gear solid series and his new innovative game bodakai (GBA). Even after u finish the game u can use all the robots and bossses u faced to play the versus mode. I suggest this game for everyone even those who don't like robots such as ZOIDS. It has tight gameplay, that's all i can say

Jehuty's back and more powerful than ever!

This game is two times better than its predecessor! The story is certainly better (in fact it rather resembles the type of story you'd see in a Metal Gear Solid). The story of the first game was not nearly as in depth or informative as this one. You find out exactly why BAHRAM (the bad guys in part 1) is trying so hard to capture the two Orbital Frames called Jehuty and Anubis. In the first game, the only thing you know as Leo Stenbuck is that the BAHRAM forces are the enemy and you have to stop them from acquiring Jehuty and destroying the space colony Antilia. And ofcourse, the fact that ADA plans to self-destruct Jehuty inside BAHRAM's military fortress called Aumaan.
In the second game though, you find out more about BAHRAM and its plans for the super fortress. You also find out more about the leader of the attack force that was sent to attack Antilia in the first game; if you don't remember who I'm talking about I'll tell you. I'm talking about Viola's boss, Nohman. He's also the guy who gains control of Anubis at the end of the first game and nearly kills Leo while he was in Jehuty. Nohman is far more evil and ruthless (and not to mention, ugly) than you'll expect. And just in case you Leo haters are wandering, no you don't take the roll of Leo Stenbuck in this game. Instead you take on the roll of a Dante look-alike (from "Devil May Cry") named Dingo Egret, who strangely enough has his own past history with BAHRAM and Nohman. With all that stuff put aside, I'll tell you about the more interesting stuff: Jehuty has even more abilities than he did in the first game. Now, instead of just firing four homing lasers at his enemies when performing a DASH shot, Jehuty can fire up to 100 homing lasers in one blast and destroy just as many enemies in that same instant. Also, the grab and throw ability was greatly enhanced. When Jehuty grabs and enemy he can use it as a shield to protect him from enemy attacks( even BURST attacks) or spin the enemy around and throw him at another enemy, causing devastating damage. This also goes for other grabable objects such as poles and pieces of walls. In addition to that, Jehuty now has a sub-weapon gauge that provides energy for his sub-weapons (like Gauntlet and Geyser) and it steadily runs out after each use of a sub-weapon, but it gradually returns each time you destroy and enemy. This game is also much more challenging than the first one, not to mention twice as long. The game also has Japanese anime cut-scenes, better music, better voice-acting, a battle-scene, and much bigger battle zones. With all this said and done, go get the freakin' game now man! You won't be sorry.
