This is the only piece of software I've seen that requires loading a specific CD *each* time you run the program. That is a serious defect---all the worse because it is clearly done with malice aforethought. Program CDs are normally kept in a safe place to avoid being damaged as well as the more serious problem of cluttering up my computer station. The MSFS folks need to get a clue!
I may well send this product back for a refund.

I used the first Flight Simulator back in the days of MSDOS. I expected the graphics to have been improved since then. No doubt the graphics are better but all things being equal, time has not helped as much as one would expect. I would buy an older version and wait another 20 years before I bought the latest version.

When I started to play, I got hooked. I also downloaded my favorite plane in the world:The SR-71 Lockheed Blackbird. If you are into flying and defying gravity, then buy this game and take to the skies!

This is the worst flight simulator that I have ever used. I wanted to give it zero rating but was not allowed to do so by the survey software. It is not adequate for children or teenagers, and will be a large disappointment to anyone seeking a simulator that provides quick and accurate performance. Without any add-ons, it requires over 200 megs of hard disk space, which is too much for a good PC simulator, and causes it to bog down too much.

This game is addictive, & has a huge following.
However, I have junked it, as it needs a very powerful computer, and high end graphics card to work well.
One quickly gets bored with the default aircraft, and the scenery is blocky.
If you can spend $3500+ for a good computer, and if you are willing to spend hours tweaking this game, and if you can afford to pay around $400 for add-on aircraft and scenery, go ahead.
I prefer to use stand alone sims such as F/A-18 and Pacific Fighters, which work all the time, and have no bugs.
If you wish to use FS2004 for Flight Training, there are much better options.

Overall I would say it's a good game, but I was disappointed to find out there was FSX which I should have bought instead of this FS 2004. It was presented as the first FS game to me in my search, and I just clicked add to cart in excitement, cos I hadn't played a flight Sim game for over 10yrs. I owned the 1st flight sim donkey years ago, so when I read the review on this one it excited me. I started playing it with excitment and interest till I found out about FSX and read it's reviews. However, FS 2004 impressed me in the almost real details and facts embedded in the training school section especially. I enjoyed it while it lasted (that was before FSX punched a hole and let out all the hot air). I'm restraining myself from spending further on FSX. I only just resumed trying to play games, as I am an extremely busy man. We'll see how it goes.
A great simulator, but needs a great pc

As I started last year with the Flight Simulator 2002 with my pentium 4 processor, 1.8Ghz, and 256 Ram the problems begins with my PC, now I have a 2.4 Ghz 1G RAM, Nvidia Video Card, and a 17" monitor (believe me, I do all this changes in order to have much better improvement with my simulator, and finally now with this F2004 I have a better flying experience.) If you don`t have a good PC you might be in troubles, because you need speed and memory and a really good video card, and I tried to keep away from third party add ons because they always slow the performance. but talking about the simulator, has a little more changes from FS2002, now with Taxiways signs and the More ATC comunication make flying a good experience. I hope that in the next two years, microsoft can finally put real world airlines and try with more detailed sceneries. Overall I like this game with 5 stars but I vote 4 because the performance capabilities from the pc. Anyway, if you love to fly just do it with this simulator, and if you can upgrade your PC will be very helpful.
