All I have to say is that the expansion polishes up an already great game. It is worth getting if you have age of kings and love RTS games.
It'll be amazing- if it ever gets out!

I have been waiting for this expansion set since July. The first time I check the release date, it says July 25. Next, I hear August 25, ok.. I can wait another month. When I check today, I find out that AOE 2: The Conquerors is delayed AGAIN, I'm starting to wonder if the expansion pack will be out before AOE:3 comes along. Don't get me wrong, I love Age of Empires.I have also played the demo version of The Conquerors, and I thought it was absoultely amazing. But enough delays already, release the fool thing!
THIS is a must have for AOE2 gamers!!

I rated this a 4. The prior AOK I would rate a 5. Why a 4? Well, because when I installed it, even after downloading the patch, it wouldn't run. After doing a FULL INSTALL (sucking up 300MB of space) it ran fine. Be forewarned (I never had a problem playing the original Age of Empires or AOK.) You must own AOK to use this expansion. I like games I can tinker with. It's even more addictive than The Sims in this regard for me. I love the scenario/campaign editor. It's great devising your own scenarios, and you can even record your own sounds and taunts to include in these. The game play itself is also marvelous, and it's a well planned and designed game. Even without going to "the zone" to challenge human opponents the game has so many options for game play that it's hard to find it boring. I wish more games were as customizable as this. If only I could replace the game's music itself with my own I'd give it five stars anyway.

This is a great game that will hold u fast in front of your computer for hours upon hours. There are very few games like this one in the fact that it is very exciting to play and you control every action. The one promblem i have with this game is that the AI is not extrodinary, this is because it does not try to find the glitches in your strategies. This leads to a low replayability. Though with its custom scenario creaters and open play games you never really can get to that point where you have to replay. Also you can play this game on the internet and this just adds to the excitment. I would recomend this game to anyone who enjoys startegies games, especially ages 10-15

This is an icredible expansion for an incredible game! There are no real flaws because it's all based on Age of Empires 2, which is allready a great game. There are 5 new civilazations, and they are all different. Every civ. now has a unique technology, and more. The thing the expansion adds the most, is balance. And this is a good thing too! Ever noticed that most people are always Byzantines, Tutons, or Persians with a few eceptions? Not any more! It's been all balanced out. Just the other day I was playing a 4 on 4 game online. What's so amazing? Out of eight people, there were 7 different civs. being played. That's a big change. 2 of the new civs., the Aztecs and the Mayans, are very different from every one else. They have no cavalry, but better infantry and archers.
If you didn't like it in the first place, you won't like this one, ohterwise, BUY IT

This game is absolutely THE best RTS game around. Buy it. Play it. Then come to the Microsoft Zone online (it's free) and play against thousands of real people 24/7. It rocks.

It's fun, it's addictive, it's well worth every single penny. Also, which game series was able to teach so much about our planet's recent civilization's warfare history and make it stick to your brain? (If you have played AOE-The Rise of Rome, all the formations and weapons used in the Gladiator movie's opening sequence will be very familiar to you). This game is the culminating benchmark for all RTS games. Ensemble Studios clearly knows their craft. This game executes so well and transparently, you come to expect that level of overall gameplay from other games. Don't believe me? 6,000+ online players worldwide on the Zone playing each other at any time can't be that deluded!
