hello all,
The game FS2002 is a classic game ever I have played. Even u all know that its not a game but a great flight simulator which has great sceneries, aircrafts, realities in aircrafts behaviour, that means, in takeoff, landings etc. This simulator is really based on realistic actions, specially I like the take off views and ILS system which further uses Approach holds. By this game now I can Fly and land the aircraft more accurately. The weather and clouds are realistic ones that I sometimes feel that I am in a real plane and flying it. The plane I like most is the Boeing 747-400. But something that I ever want to know that how i can change the design and color of the aircraft so that i can make the aircraft relating to a specific airline in any corner of the world. Secondly, ewhen i am flying in night, there are no Airports lights means this isnt realistic because at airports, there are dozens of light. But in this Simulator, there are only runway lights( that are very rare)and its very difficult to land. Else is alright. In the end I want to congratulate the Microsoft team that made a really anthusistic game ever.
The perfect flight

Just got a chance to test the new FS2002. Its a very big jump forward, graphics are like Combat Simulator II. The sensitivity of the controls are also upgraded. Auto pilot controls are a bit difficult to find quickly but the online manual is great..
Great - Matches Actual FAA approved Flight Sims I have used!

First - my sytem - AMD 1.2Gig; 256 Meg DDR ram; 30Gig ATA 100 5400 RPM DD; 32 Meg Video; good (but not great) sound card, Wingman Joystick, and oh yes - Windows XP O/S.
Next - I am a private pilot with an "instrument rating" and regularly fly Cessna 172s/182s.
This is an absolutely superb piece of software - particularly for serious aviation enthusiasts who want to try out instrument approaches to many different airports. I love using the multiple VORs, Localizer/Glideslope for ILS approaches, the ADF, and even the GPS, etc. I regularly practice such things as holding patterns at "waypoints" - and I make the weather match real instrument conditions. I use it to find small airports that I have never been to, to give me practice in locating them before I go!!! The ATC voice traffic is pretty well done and (as any instrument pilot knows) that is almost (but not quite) as important as the aviating/navigating part of flying!! I fly out of a very tiny private airstrip (3400' long x 50' wide) and it's actually in the FS2002 library. There's a nuclear power plant about 4 miles from the airstrip - and sure enough, as soon as I clear the trees - it's there in front of the plane!!! My wife is already threatening to destroy my computer (I argue that she now always knows where I am!).
To keep my instrument rating current, I must spend a certain amount of time in an FAA approved simulator each 6 months, and FS 2002, actually approaches the quality of training I get in the FAA approved sims!!
I do agree with others who have noted that the more "horsepower" you have on your system, the more enjoyable FS2002 will be for the user!
But - when all is said and done - it's a great piece of software!! The only thing it misses for a real pilot is rudder controls!
Finally just to let everyone know that I also use FS2002 to have fun (my fantasy flight???) I have used it to fly among the skyscrapers in downtown Manhattan - something you could never (ever) do in real life without getting put in jail/losing your license/shot down, etc!!!
The best ever!!

I bought this two days ago, and I am impressed! I own FS 98 and FS 2000 Prof. as well, but this one is just so much better. I used to get bored with FS 2000 but with FS 2002 it won't happen easily. The reason is the extreme realism. The virtual cockpit views are awesome, it makes it look and feel like being in a REAL plane. The ground scenery is also much more realistic. Grand Canyon for example. Also, there are trees, never before included. Only problem: No manual like in FS2000. However, i think it's all included in PDF. Verdict: BUY IT if you love planes or flying.
MIGHTY FLIGHT

I find it a truly astounding fact that lesser companies actualy want to disband the company that made this highly impressive product. Microsoft are contuinualy producing the most cutting edge-games and this is the gem in their crown. The graphics alone are a work of art and the intellegent and professional programming is even better than i have come to expect from Microsoft. Buy this product(i say product as it would be wrong to refer to this avation tool as a game)
this is a simulator

wow, what a game. Buy it, but...before you buy your cpu needs..
at least 256 RAM, nvidia video driver, joystick, 10GB Hard disk, and recommended internet connection for downloads. If not the game will not work very well.
For the serious game enthusiast.

If you liked the previous games made by Microsoft under the same name, you will love this one. I really recommend the Professional Edition as it gives you more planes and realism than the Standard Edition.
I also recommend buying the Force Feedback 2 in conjunction with this game. It makes it more realistic when you're taking off or stalling.
This is a good choice for the serious flyer. If you want to pull G's while fighting enemy aircraft, I suggest Combat Simulator II.
Learn to fly.

As a student pilot, I found this game to be an absolute must! If you want to learn to fly, or are learning to fly, get this game and lower your flight hours! I practice my local airport and cross-countries on this game. I soloed after 10 hours of actual flight time, and my instructor is still impressed with how fast I'm going through the school, infact I did my first cross-country before I hit my 20 hours of flight training!
If you want to fly, or if you want to seriously practice, get this program. Oh, and ILS aproaches are great if you set the fog deep.
Too Real to be labelled as a Game.

I started flying with SubLOGIC, and Bruce A. Artwick's Microsoft Flight Simulator back in the early 1980's. As Microsoft has so accurately said, this game is "As Real As It Gets". Flight Simulator 2002 is sure to live up to all the expectations of not only being another great game, but also a great learning tool for any flight simulation enthusiast. Microsoft's Flight Simulator game also serves as a primer for anyone wishing to continue their studies in the field of aeronautics. With the release of each updated version of Microsoft's Flight Simulator, more exciting features are added not only for your enjoyment but also for further accuracy and realism. Flight Simulator 2002 will no doubt be another Benchmark Flight Simulation Game.

Flight Simulator is in some aspects way better than flight simulator 2000, but it also has its cons.
Pros:
New Aircrafts with a much more detailed virtual cockpits.
The Grand Caravan Amphibian can even land on water.
Graphics are excellent.
You can plan your departure and arrival airport which makes it easier to travel from one place to another unlike in Flight Simulator 98 and 2000 where the player has no clue where to go.
Cons:
Needs a very good computer system with a minimum of 32 Mb of Video Texture.
Takes ages loading and takes a lot of space on the hard disk.
Overall it is a fun game to play and you will cherish every moment of it.
