There were indeed some more features in every new Flight Simulator. But also some more disappointments: - First you get startet at Chicago Meigs Field, admiring the highly detailed City. Then you get bored of the void between the airports. - Obviously, other pilots are scared of your flying skills because you're absolutely alone in the sky. - And where's the realistic damage-model???? Have you ever seen wings resisting fast turnings at 200 kts with a Cessna?? In Flight Unlimited 3 for example you get da real crash!;)(FS actually stops the simulation immediately w/o showing any damage in this case...) - And what about the system requirements? They recommmend systems which are only able to provide a slide-show. Have you ever considered to play FS 2000 w/o a 3D accelerator on a P166??? Naw! There are also very nice aspects of the game, of course. But they are already mentioned in other comments, so I don't have to write them here ;) I hope this time, FS's got some REAL improvements(as they promise)! But I also think, system requirements will be far more higher than in the previous version.
Crash! (and I'm not referring to the aircraft)

This software should be one of the slickest pieces of sofware out on the market. If it only ran. I get frequent system crashes, and spend nearly as much time rebooting (from a cold start, every time) as I do flying. I'm running almost new hardware, way beyond the listed system requirements, and this is the only program that hangs me up. What a disappointment!

WoW! This has definetly been the best one out YET. I have been a flightsim enthusiest for quit some time now and this sim tops the lot.
The frame rates are great but depends what type of computer you have. There are some false descriptions of what type of system is needed to run this program and the manual does not give a large aspect off the game.
The graphics are excellent and are definetely the best out at the moment. Game play is overall great, the flight dynamics are really not any better than FS2000 except for the 747-400&Caravan.
Another great aspect of the program is the ATC chater.
At last you are not alone in the skys. Microsoft have done great on developing this function wich is very easy to use and understandable.(you would definetly have a ball with it)
My advice for those Flightsim enthusiest who are wondering if it is worth buying, if you have a fast computer with alot of space on your hard-drive, besides frame rates, FS2002 is definetely WORTH A BUY!
Expected too much

First of all this software seems to have bugs. The game causes PC to freeze constantly. Can t use the game / am depending on Microsoft's tech support to get the game functioning.(?)
However the main issue, after all the enthusiastic previews, I expected much more. Apart from the new ACT communication features, nothing really new in comparison to FS 2000. Still one and the same generic engine sound for the B737/777 and the 747 - sounds like a vacuum cleaner / not like a jet engine! Exactly the same engine noise as heard on FS2000.
I have a Computer with Pentium III / 450 Mhz Processor and 128 MB Ram, that s by far not enough power to run a software like this and they should make this clear.
Much-used product

Although my fiancee has not purchased any other flight simulators with which to compare this product, he loves this flight simulator. Very realistic.

This has to be the all time best game/simulator ever created. I can't imagine what Microsoft will have for fs2k4. One of the best features of the game is that off variouse web sites there are over 100 additional planes you can add to it. Now that is what i call a game.

Excellent game! I think that the graphics are fantastic, and cloud effects and also other special effects are brilliant, such as the smoke from the tires when you land.
The autogen feature makes the scenery much more realistic although it is quite repetitive. Frame rates remain quite high even with full graphics, although that is easy for me to say with a powerful computer!
Although there are some things which could be better, such the crash effects, for instance, crashing into a tree just stops the plane dead in its tracks.
Also it would be nice to have a working FMC.
But even so, a hardcore flight simmer I have seen the highs and lows of many sims and I think that this one is the best!

I got Flight Simulator 2002 a couple of days back now and i just want to say that i love the game. When I first played on FS2002 i was hooked for hours. The whole game is excellent so i can't possibly choose my best thing on the game. However I did love flying past the World Trade Centre (GOD BLESS AMERICA) and seeing what a beautiful building it truely was. The amazing graphical detail is completly stunning and I love it.

This is the ultimate in simulators. The scenery is so real it is awesome. It also has a very good selection of aircraft from trainer planes to the big 747. I purchased FLY! before the Microsoft 2002 came out and there is NO comparison. My only regret is that the regular version of '2002' came out first. I bought it, then the professional version came to the shelves. The professional version is much better, but Microsoft didn't give us a choice to purchase it first. All-in-all though, it's a winner!
