I was blown away by the first tekken installment years ago and since then I have been a loyal follower of the series. I've been playing the arcade version of tekken 4 lately, and learning the fighting system in tekken is a wonderful vocation if your a novice and if your a veteran fighter you will love the tweaks on this latest incarnation.

This is my first Tekken game and i will say it is great. The best parts are tekken force which is fun and story battle. I played this game at a freinds house and had to get it. I have had it for a little while, but it is kinda gets boring. My advice:
1)good game-good graphics
2)if u like Tekken or fighting games u will love this 1
3)it kinda gets boring, so if it is your first time getting a tekken game, rent it first
Hope my review was helpful!!!!!
A WHOLE LOT OF FUN!

Tekken 4 is the best fighting game on the market right now.
Good Things
Once in a lifetime Graphics
Pretty good soundtrack
Bangin' opening cinema
Some returning characters from T2
No more back and fourth landscaping. Use the whole thing, plus its surroundings to your advantage. Murk your opponent up against the wall. My favorite returner is Bryan Fury, cause I can unleash the fury on my brother.
There isnt anything bad about the game. The only thing I can think of is that all characters have the same moves, with only a couple of new ones. That's it. This game is a must have or must rent for all ps2 owners especially if you have a sibbling to compete against.
Any true Tekken player knows this one can't get any better

I've already wrote my review of this game and I said how good it is and I'm sure that true Tekken fans agree with me. Now what I wanna say to some reviewers that keep whining around because this version doesn't have a Tag option is simple: Tekken is NOT a Tag game and never was meant to be. Tekken Tag Tournament was released because Namco wanted to try something different and quench the hunger that fans had for Tekken 4. In other words, a Tag option is definitely not in the plans of Namco staff because they were never a part of Tekken. Ultimately, you whining players stop bugging and asking for a Tag option because Tekken is not that kind of game. Period.

This is the fourth instalment of the awesome Tekken series. This game's story is this - Hiehachi anounces the 4th tournament 2 years after the 3rd. The prize, the entire Mishima Ziabotsu(I think that means the entire company Heihachi created). He uses this to lure out his son, Kazuya, and grandson, Jin, because he wants something with the devil gene, or something.
Pros:
*Finally, good graphics for a REAL tekken game.
*Christy.
*The return of my favs(see tekken 3).
*Interactive backgrounds.
*Fun game modes.
Cons:
*Hiehachi wears a thong like diaper.
*There is too much devil gene stuff in it.
This is the second Tekken game on the PS2, but the first one with a story to it. This is a great buy.
Lives up 2B Tekken

Since I didn't feel like waiting till September 24, I got the Tekken 4 import(By the way I did have a MOD Chip),and it worked. Despite the Japanese language, I saw what was comin' 2 America. Great Graphics, great moves and combos, nice end movies, and I love Tekken force mode. The easy PS2 control makes the gamplay very high in alot of ways. I got this game 2 weeks after it came out in Japan. Now what do I have 2 buy the American one 4, no reason, or to understand what the heck they sayin'. When this game comes out I recomend it to anyone who's a big fan of fightin' games, and anyone who has a PS2. I always say good comes 2 those who don't wait.
great

There is nothing special about Tekken 4. Sure, the graphics are nice and there's some new stuff, but seriously, nothing about this game is impressive. The character selection includes 3 new guys who are NOT all that wonderful, a couple of guys from Tekken 2, and the rest are all fresh from Tekken 3. Everyone got a few new moves (most of which are pretty cool) and new outfits, but I would say that is not enough to warrant a purchase. Story mode livens things up with drawn story scenes and CG scenes for each character. Tekken Force mode is simply annoying, nothing more. Beat the $h!t out of a bunch of mindless fools who come running at you... beat up some more guys, and so on and so on. The new sidestepping, wall obstacles, positions changins stuff is also rather irritating; the computer knows how to do this far too well and when it uses it, the match is all but lost. I've always enjoyed Tekken, but a better fighting-control-sceme-thingie and more and better new stuff would've made this worthwhile. This is a rental at best.
Tekken loses ground, Virtua Fighter gains.

Fanatical hard-cores aside, most fighting fans agree that Namco's brightest gem is now Soul Calibur. And as AM2's Virtua Fighter 4 is, quite possibly the best the the series, being released on a non-Sega console for the first time, was heralded as a legitamite claim to "best fighting game ever." Knowing Tekken could quick become stale and left in the history books, we get THIS: a newer, evolved Tekken. But is it any good?
To me, most of the ideas sound good on paper (and still do). Enclosed area, walls, uneven planes, easier side stepping; all sound good by themselves. But when you look at the end result was an unbalanced, unelegent mess that screwed up elements that made Tekken good in previous entries. It simply needed more work, even though the ideas were innocent, heck, on track.
Taking away the extra copies of characters with the same move DID NOT bother me however. What kills this game is lack of one-player experience (especially after the core gameplay isn't as balanced as usual). With the high-name developers making lots of modes to extend playability and/or putting in awsomely long and rewarding career-like modes (i.e. Edge Master, Kumite, Quest mode) having neither is very stupid and/or lazy. Movies do little after the first time. Also... there is a bad vibe this game has that makes you tired of it quickly. Tekken never had great sound but... yuck. Hopefully Namco will return in top form for Soul Calibur 2, which also dangerously closer to being rehash. Sorry Tekken, Virtua Fighter now rules.
