Too Hard to Play Honestly

Challenging? No, Impossible is more like it! Just remember to download the cheat codes first before playing this game, you'll need them.

The graphics, sound and user interface are exceptional but those features are over-shadowed by the short amount of time players stay alive in the game. This is not really a serious gaming experience, its more of an exercise in futility. The only time you'll last longer than an alka-seltzer tablet in a glass of water is when you play as the Predator and even then your life span is not that long. The alien can't heal and the marine is the ultimate victim. The game settings should not be "Easy", "Medium" and "Hard"; they should be changed to "Slow Suicide", "Quick Death" and "Don't Bother Fighting Back".

EXTREME CAUTION: this game will run slowly on a computer that has windows xp, most likely because the game is so old in itself. the framerate is very poor, which is confusing, since i have a 1.5ghz pentium4, with 128mb RAM,and and nvidia geforce2 graphics card. did i mention that my computer is a gateway? that might be the problem. i have played this game before, where it ran smoothly. it was a lot of fun,and a little scary at times. i especially liked playing as the alien. another good feature for this game is that it comes with an audio cd. it has 15 tracks, all with in game music. great, huh?

I just bought this game and regret every penney.

1. The game is so hard that you'll have a ton of hassles just getting through a couple missions on anything but the easy difficulty. Then the other people come around bragging about how they thought hard difficulty was too easy.

2. The game doesn't have any trainers for the patched version to make the game's difficulty reasonable.

3. And now for the biggest reason this game is a waste of time, money and blood pressure is that this game is hopelessly laggy. What I mean is this game (and series even) has a very strong reputation of being very slow and jerky on not only multiplayer but on single player mode as well. The lag makes the game virtually unplayable. As of this point, there is no known cure for the lag.

Conclusion: The difficulty is something a person can work with but terrible and uncurable lag isn't. How are you supposed to walk when you twitch from one side of the hallway to the other? How are you supposed to shoot when your target warps from one side of the room to the other? I think you get the picture.

This game rules. For all you wussies out there who whine about it being to hard, I laugh. That's what we said about Super Mario Bros when it first came out. This Game is a fast paced fight for your life thrill ride. What better way to spend the evening getting the crap scared out of you. It may be difficult but that's what they said about Half Live too. For those out there who whine about it being to hard maybe you guys should stick with it and learn how to play in a combat situation. The Marine Was actually easy once you got to know his assessts.

I admit this game was not a walk in the park but that's what made it so much fun. If you want a fast paced, run amuck, and blow the other guy away type of game this is a must have for you.

This is a great game. My comp recently crashed and i need a new copy of this game.. if anyone can sell me a copy i'd be glad to buy. The multiplayer games on this program are excellent! Playing this game in the dark will scare the hell outta you! The Aliens in this game look so real and the Predator combat will leave you breathless. If you are looking for a good Role Playing game for the PC then pick up a copy of this.

I've been into this game since first release and frankly just love it. When the first movie came out in 1979 and I went to see it, alone, at a midnight showing, the whole Aliens universe has given me the creeps, and still does. AVP Gold has allowed me get immersed in that universe, walk in those combat boots. The fellow who rang me up at the store when I bought the game said-- "play it with the lights on," and he was right.

Yeah, some folks give AVP Gold a bad rap, but it has one obvious element that is sadly lacking in AVP 2: co-op play. It good to have a little help when you're in levels like Hive, or Trapped. There are numerous downloadable add-on levels that are anywhere from lame to sensational. There is a downloadable cheat utility AVP launcher that gets you all weapons and God-mode so you can sharpen your skills at shooting instead of respawning. I LIKE getting in there invincible and wasting bugs-- great stress release for me. In co-op, or species deathmatch, it's amusing to discover your parter's strengths or weaknesses. My own teenage son is a positive terror as an Alien; he thinks like them, which is s little worrisome . . .

Great fun for the $$$, and if you like any of the related movies, you'll enjoy it.

Just one thing, though. I wish they had put in some of Pvt. Hudson's lines from movie #2 for taunts! " . . . we got nukes, we got knives, we got sharp sticks . . ." !" " . . . now all we need's a deck of cards." (well, that was Hicks, not Hudson).

In Aliens Versus Predator, to acheive success, you must think like the character, use the movies as an example, juring certain levels, predators will try to stalk you untill your weak enough for them to take a shot at the kill...
But anyway the game was very well done, the effects for the alien movement were state-of-the-art but I Find Them To Hard To Control, my suggestion is to play Multi player rounds as alien first, but start the game alone... The Predators Were ...So-So... But Could Have Been Bettre, and there should have been more of them, but i don't really mind, I hate Preds anyway (Preds short for Predators) And I Think The Weapons Were Well Done But UnRealistic... But For The Year it was made it had very good graphics and controls... Good Luck

2) As Predator Don't Depend To Deeply On Your Energy-Based Weapons, they run out quick

This is the game everyone wanted. While Star Wars is constantly plunged into the world of the cheap cash-in the two most inventive and downright scariest films of the 80's have mainly escaped their development fate. AvP is by far the most scariest and atmospheric game i have ever had the honour to play. It dosen't try to be the best (ala Half Life) or the best multi-player (ala Quake 3) it just tries to be a great INDIVIDUAL game that wants to show what would happen in a battle between the fear inducing alien, the eight foot predator and some hapless marine 'shoulder' cannon fodder and it does an absolutely fantastic jod of it. The game ha been traeted with the ultimate in respect as have our dynamic trio and the game remains at a constant lightning speed throughout although the graphics do suffer slightly but a decent graphics card will do more than compensate. The characters are well animated with the HUGE queen alien made up of 2000 polygons! So with me waxing lyrical over one of my favourite games of all time( 15 years of gaming experience) are there any bad points? Well yes as mentioned in every review on Amazon about this game... the difficulty and by god what a dificulty even on easy the most veteran of gamers will struggle. Especially on the alien and, while being quite cool, the marine because its too go damn unnerving! The motion tracker is great way to scare gamers and usually by the time it bleeps you're either decapitaied (via alien) or torso-less (via predator). The alien survives 2 seconds of machinegun fire. The predator is the best though. Immune to fire, invisible (when still cause you are more visible when running) and the ability to detonate yourself in multiplayer as he does in the original. For fans this is a dream come true as it is just for casual gamers just expect one hell of a challenge.

-Good multiplayer

-You need a 3D card (D3D compatable)
-You're dead too quick as the others
-Maybe TOO much of a challenge for most
So in a few words this is by far the best, in my opinion, 1st person shooter in the world just beware of acid blood use the smartgun and minigun all the time. Alien hates fire Predator loves it, the speargun is best as well as shoulder cannon and avoid fights as the alien. Enjoy.
