Resident Evil: Dead Aim (Gun Survivor 4)
Introduction - I want to start of by saying this more than a gun survivor. It's one hundred times better than all the past gun survivors fit together. Crisp graphics, nice sound, and an overall great performance. Let's round it up....
Graphics 9 out of 10 - Very excellent and crisp. You could put all the resident Evil games on the sony consoles together and they still wouldn't be this good. The graphics on the Playstation 2 are really pushed to it's limits. The only flaw in graphics is sometimes you can see zombie's heads go through walls and you can tend to walk through dead zombie bodies, but besides that there is no real flaw in the graphics.
Sound 8 out of 10 - It did lack some music. At some parts it would be too quiet. I think some heavy metal music thrown into a resident evil game would be pretty sweet. The footstep sounds were right on time and you could here the zombie and monster groans from around the corner and you could tell they were coming and all the weapons sound sounded authentic enough for me so sound was not all that bad.
Controls 7 out of 10 - I gave this one a lower score because at some parts, you can't aim correctly, but thats probably on my part because I use an analog controller and I need to buy a Guncon 2 because I've heard it's better and it's a whole different experience with the Guncon 2. Overall the controls are decent for a gun survivor such as this.
Gameplay 6 out of 10 - This one got the lowest score because of the big flaw of not enough gameplay to go around. This game is really great to add to a big resident Evil fan's collection but at some parts, you might get bored and the other big flaw is that its WAY TOO SHORT. The storyline is okay and all, but I mean come on wheres the hours and hours of gameplay you could get from Resident Evil 2 or 3? This game only took me 56 minutes my first time playing it to beat it. This game doesn't have many puzzles if there is any at all. Yes, you got to find keys, but the keys aren't even that challenging to find. Even the hard mode isn't even that hard.
Overall 8 out of 10 - The game is good and replayability is very good since as all resident evil games, certain ranks will give you certain cool prizes at the end such as infinite ammo for guns and so on. If your a hardcore resident Evil fan, then buy this. Otherwise, rent it because you can beat it easily 4 or 5 times within the 5 day period of returning the game. It's replayability is even better with the guncon 2.
SEPERATE REVIEW FOR GUNCON 2 ACCESSORY:
Introduction - Since the Guncon 2 is an essential part of experiencing Dead Aim, I've included a review for the GunCon as well.
I give GunCon 2 10 out of 10 - A perfect 10 for a perfect control. You might be thinking "If I have only a gun in my hand, how in the world am I going to walk around and stuff." Simple, the GunCon has a stick that makes it easy to manuever your character and pick up items and so on. The GunCon 2 in a great addition even though there isn't that many games that need a GunCon 2 yet, but they'll be coming soon. Time Crisis 1, 2, and 3 all can be played with a guncon and Assault Ninja can also be played with a Guncon 2.
PLEASE NOTE YOU DO NOT NEED A GUNCON 2 TO PLAY RESIDENT EVIL: DEAD AIM. YOU CAN PLAY IT WILL AN ANALOG CONTROLLER OR PS2 USB MOUSE.
A cut above "Resident Evil: Survivor"

This is the second "Resident Evil" first-person shooter I have played, and (In My Humble Opinion) it is much better than the previous one (the above-mentioned "Resident Evil: Survivor"). It blends RE's traditional 3rd-person action with the 1st-person shooter style of "Survivor", which is very handy. "Survivor" was all FPS, all the time, which can get nerve-wracking, especially when you're fighting multiple enemies. In "Dead Aim", you only enter FPS to fight. Tap the trigger (R1) once to aim, and again to fire. If you don't like the odds, you can turn and run away, or fight back if the bad guy has grabbed you, then turn back and resume the battle.
Since it's for PS2, both analog sticks come into play; the left one for movement (if you're "old-school" like me, you may prefer the D-pad), and the right one for changing your aiming point, which is represented by the crosshairs on the screen. You can use the Right and Left buttons on the D-pad to strafe, but using Forward and Back will move *you*, not your aim point, and you'll revert to 3rd-person action.
Carrying stuff is a little different in this game, since the only limit is on the amount of ammo clips you can carry; a total of 6 slots are available, and that space has to supply *all* of your weapons. You get 3 different types of 9mm handguns, one .50 caliber Magnum handgun, one shotgun, one Assault Rifle, one Grenade Launcher, and a Plasma Rifle. Handgun ammo is plentiful, and the save areas carry an infinite amount. Otherwise, conserve whenever possible (especially Magnum ammo), and also keep plenty of health items in reserve.
There are only two really tough boss battles in this game; the rest of the action is pretty standard. Just be careful not to get too close to the really huge boss, and be patient when fighting the really fast boss (you'll see what I mean).
This is a good game for "Resident Evil" enthusiasts, and the learning curve is not very steep. There are three difficulty levels (Easy, Normal and Hard), which allow you to familiarize yourself with the game without getting killed too often. Overall, I give it: 10/10.
1000 X better than Veronica!

I just bought this game yesterday, and man I LOVE IT!! To be honest I was very disapointed with the last ps2 RE game,Code Veronica.Dead Aim however fixes all the problems that Veronica had and even improves other aspects!
First off,NO ANNOYING 3-D CONTROL CONFIGURATION!Most fans of RE games know what I'm talking about.Up=Down,Right=Left and vice versa.Thankfully someone at Capcom gained some sanity and did away with this horrible concept! If you want to go in a certain direction, then just push the analog stick in the same direction. Also killing zombies rewards the player,as some will drop herbal medicine and diffrent ammo.Of course the odds of this happening decrease/increase depending on what difficulty setting you are playing.
Graphics are great, though a bit dark at times (but hey, this is RE
after all)and the frame rate is extremely smooth.Switching to first person whenever you start shooting was awesome and really makes up for the fact that the ps2 doesn't have any of the House
Of The Dead series. Now I've not played with the actual light gun,
just the analog controller;but I thought that it was still easy and fun to use.Using the light gun must make it even better! There is one thing I didn't like about using the controller though; You have to use the RIGHT analog stick to move the cross hairs instead of the left, which is somewhat awkward. However
you may be able to change this by switching the control set up.
I've not tried myself(so in short you get used to it!)
As for the whole story I don't fully understand what's going on,but I really don't care.RE games have never been based on storyline,it's about blasting zombies/mutants and having alot of fun doing it!Well, basically some terroist group stole some t/g virus and hi-jacked a ship.Something happened and now it's a ship
of the undead;so you and china doll Fongling come to clean up the mess. One thing bothers me though... this Morpheus bad guy...
what's up with his "change"?? Feminine voice, breasts, and even high heel like feet? I guess now we're in the age of gender bending mutant monsters.... well whatever works I guess! LOL
One slight annoyance was that I thought the voice acting was very
very soft/low.It was hard to hear what the people were saying unless you turned up the volume on your tv pretty loud.I put the subtitles on so that I wouldn't miss anything, but the subtitles
do not read exactly what's being said. It's more of a summary which I thought was kind of dumb.Still though this is only a minor complaint.Resident Evil Dead Aim,to me,is the best in the whole series so far.I recommend any RE fan to buy this!
WHAT A GAME!!

this game is amazing. i love this game. i have never played survivor so i cannot compare them. but i will explain about this. the game is all in 3rd person. but lets say u see a zombie, u can press the trigger on ur gun to enter "shoot" mode. this allows u to actually attack the zombies and creatures.IT DOES NOT CHANGE VIEWS AUTOMATICALLY. IT IS MANUALLY, SO U CAN RUN PAST THEM IF U WANT. IT ALSO ALLOWS U TO WALK FOWARD WHILE U ARE IN "SHOOT" MODE. THE THING I LIKE A BUNCH ABOUT THIS GAME IS THAT THE PUZZLES ARE EASIER. the 1st resident evil was good but u had to have a guide to beat it. in this i am able to beat it without a guide. im not saying the game is easy, im saying it is fun because u do not have to worry about have a key with an embleme shape in a room where the pictures need to be rearanged in an order. no none of that. i recomend this game if u love horror games with between moderate-lots of action, and love a cool adventure. THE ONLY DOWNFALL ON THIS GAME ARE THE MODEL GRAPHICS. THEY REALLY [are bad]. BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS GOOD. THE BOAT GRAPHCIC(THE GAME IS BASED ON A BOAT), THE LIGHTING IS AMAZING, THE WATER IS WELL DONE BUT THE MODEL GRAPHICS ON THE 2 MAIN CHARACTERS ARE THE ONLY DISSAPPOINTMENT.
THANKS FOR READING MY REVIEW!

Okay, so I gave this game five stars all around. Alot of people (mainly the "hardcore" Resident Evil fans) think DEAD AIM is a bad game. That just isn't true. It's a great game and a wonderful sequal to the world of Resident Evil. Although I think it's a really fun experiance, I still consider Resident Evil 4 to be the best game out of the entire series. Heck, I'm willing to even say that Resident Evil 4 is the best game ever made! Period! That said, enough talk about other Resident Evil games. Lets talk about the one at hand, DEAD AIM. Basically the plot is simple. You play as an anti-Umbrella task force member named Bruce who ends up getting trapped on a large Umbrella boat, out to sea. Like other games in the series, something is seriously wrong with the situation from the start. You soon find that the passengers of the ship have been turned into flesh eating zombies and horrible mutant monsters have been unleashed from the labs deep within the boat. It's a pretty cut and dry story which in turns add's to the simple enjoyment of the game. In otherwords, what you have here is NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD out to sea! DEAD AIM is classic Resident Evil horror with a new twist. Instead of trying to move Bruce through set up scenes (like in older Resident Evil games) you get full control of him and the places around him. Although this game was made before Resident Evil 4, you can tell the direction CAPCOM wanted to gear the series in with this game. DEAD AIM is almost on the same level as RE4 but there are some minor differences. For one, this game is actually a sequal of a lesser known RE game called Resident Evil : Survivor, which wasn't very good due to CAPCOM cutting corners while porting it to American PSONE systmes. Anyways, DEAD AIM fixes alot of the screw ups from the past RE:Survivor game and really pushes the limits (in terms of graphics) of the PS2 for DEAD AIM. Playing as Bruce, you must creep through floors and levels of the huge boat, killing off zombies and monsters along the way. The action part is much different than in Survivor or older Resident Evil games. Mainly in 3D, when it comes time for action (shooting zombies in the head) the screen quickly zooms into first person perspective and all the "gun action" takes place that way. So after shooting your way through groups of zombies and monsters, eventually the boat crashes on a island and the rest of the "adventure" takes place there. DEAD AIM is a little on the short side, it took me only a couple of days to finish it without a problem. That shouldn't hold back Resident Evil fans from enjoy this little "side story" while they wait for future sequals in the series. In otherwords, DEAD AIM is a wonderful time killer, nothing more. Beautiful graphics, creepy music, haunting sound effects, buckets of blood and a enjoyable story really makes this game a classic Resident Evil. This game is even perfect for the casual Resident Evil fan. You won't get lost in the plot details (it's a side story after all) and it's short enough to give you an idea of what the world of Resident Evil is. Fans of Horror games should really check this out. It's got enough blood, zombies and monsters to please anyone into the scene. In otherwords, DEAD AIM is DEAD ON!
your aim must be dead on

ok here goes avid fan and player here and own all the games in this series.
graphics are great sound is great feel of the game is great story line so/so.
if you like a shooter game or should i say you like the old resident evil game survivor then this will be the game for you.
i bought the game due to collecting anything that deals with resident evil.
my biggest complaint is the mechanics of this game it took awhile to get used to and the switching back and forth gives me a headache.
that was the biggest down fall to the game as well as a so/so story line.
but the graphics thats what made the game also the sound to it gives the creepinss to the game and they did a great job just like the others in the series.
if you like shooters then this game is for you but if your like me and enjoy the old fashion resident evil games then it is not for you.
if you are collecting like me well then it is a must have for your collection.

AT FIRST I WAS A BIT RELUCTANT ON GETTING THIS NEW SURVIVOR GAME BASED ON RESIDENT EVIL.. DUE MAINLY TO HOW BAD THE FIRST RESIDENT EVIL '' SURVIVOR ''GAME WAS..BUT IN ALL IT WAS A LOTTA FUN TO PLAY .I LIKED WHEN IT CHANGED TO FIRST PERSON MODE WHENEVER A ZOMBIE OR OTHER MONSTER WAS NEAR..BUT THE BOSSES ARE FAST AND YOU GOTTA BE QUICK TO TAKE THEM OUT .THE CRITICAL HIT IS A REAL PLUS , TO NAIL A ZOMBIE JUST RIGHT IN THE HEAD TO HAVE THEM FLY BACKWARDS TO SMASH AGAINST A WALL !!WOW ! THE GAMEPLAY WAS OKAY , BUT CERTAIN MOVES WERE QUITE HARD TO DO . THEY SHOULD'VE BROUGHT BACK THE 360 DEGREE SPIN FROM THE EARLIER GAMES.IT WOULD'VE HELPED IN BOSS BATTLES A LOT ..BUT THE ONLY BAD THING WAS THE GRAPHICS , THEY WERE NOT GREAT JUST OKAY .FOR THIS BEING A PS 2 GAME IT SHOULD HAVE HAD BETTER GRAPHICS.BUT THAT ASIDE IS IS STILL A GREAT GAME , AND EEERIE IN MOOD LIKE '' SILENT HILL 2 ''.AND THE MOANING ZOMBIES - ESPECIALLY THE WOMEN , ARE AS CREEPY AS THE ONES THAT MOANED IN THE POLICE BACKLOT IN THE SECOND RESIDENT EVIL GAME..SO IF YOU ARE TIRED OF BORING RPG GAMES , HO HUM SPORTS GAMES , WRESTLING AND FIGHTING GAMES THAN GET IT TODAY.AND YOU WILL PLAY MORE THAN ONCE TOO..LET'S HOPE THE NEXT GAME WILL BE OUT REALLY SOON..MAYBE MAKE ONE BASED ON THE MOVIE VERSIONS OF THE GAME .IT CAN'T BE ANY WORSE THAN THE LAME PS2 '' SPIDERMAN ''' GAME...HAVE FUN, AND LEAVE ALL THE LITES OFF. IT CAN ALSO MAKE A COOL '' HALLOWEEN '' GAME FOR ALL YOU AND YOUR PALS TO PLAY TOGETHER...HAVE FUN AND LONG LIVE
'' RESIDENT EVIL '' !!!
THE BEST RESIDENT EVIL EVER!!!!!!

This game is awsome! The graphics are amazing the best in the series aside from the Gamecube versions. You can see,and hear bullets hit the ground.Zombies now move and sound more life like. Even though I've never met one personaly. The gameplay is great! unlike surviver you now move around in third person veiw and go into first person when you want to shoot(go for head shots). You realy need a guncon2 or a blaster for this game though, because it's more real and accurate. At first it will seam strange walking around with the thumbcon, but you'll get used to it very quickly.Overall a very solid game that you should buy right now.
AWESOME

I LOVE THIS GAME. YOU PLAY BRUCE MACGAVIN ON A HIJACKED CRUISE SHIP. OTHER PLAYABLE CHARACTERS ARE FONGLING. THIS GAME HAS PRETTY GOOD GRAPHICS ON THE MINI MOVIES AND OK ONES ON THE REST OF THE GAME, THE WEAPONS ARE AWESOME AND THE CREATURES ARE RLLY COOL THERE A BOSSES WHICH ARE RLLY COOL EXCEPT THE FAT GIGALIY THING. SOME OF THE CREATURES LOOKED KIND OF STUPID BUT IT WAS A GOOD GAME. I WOULD RECOMMEND GUNCON2 OTHERWISE THE GAME ISN"T MUCH FUN.
!! Superb If you own a guncon

The guncon makes this game bad ass. Scary, Scary, Scary. the gun i have is the desert eagle .50 ae. Just like the cool gun in the game, but any guncon2 will be fine. Move around isn't to easy with the d-pad on the lightgun but resident evil games have never been much control. Graphics aren't as good as the Gamecube resident evil zero, but trust me their fine on the ps2. I highly recommend this game. you might think of getting a guncon just for this game it will be worth it if you pick up a game like time crisis II with it.
