Not as good as San Andreas

This game is not that good as some people say, the gameplay is horrible compared to previous versions. In my opinion San Andreas is way to much better, the only good thing about this game are the graphics and the story, nothing else

This game is great. Whether you choose to complete mission, or just rampage about town trying out new cars or other vehicles and speeding through the streets of New York (er, i mean liberty city). Definitely not for kids. I think anything less than 16 or 15 is very questionable unless you think it's time for them to learn about the seedier elements of our real world..

Pretty much the same free roam game we've grown used too since GTA 3, Gets repetitive after a while and the shock value has long run out. Needs more new content, this game did not live up to the hype.

GTA 4. I've played this game for about 3 day's worth of time and I'm not even half way through. Just riding around in the streets and causing mayhem is extremely entertaining. The first games were enjoyable. The controls weren't that great, the graphics sucked, but everyone still loved them. this installation in the series just completely blows those other games away in every aspect.

What people judge a video game by is the controls, the detail, gameplay, storyline, etc., and while GTA might fail in the controls section compared to games like dark sector, everything else is just mind-boggling. What the designers of this game did was take every aspect of life, meaning physics, interaction, technology, and put it on a high-capacity disk.

Driving mechanics, human interaction/reaction, environment, they all seem very realistic. While it's true that the game can be a game that parents really wouldn't like, it's really worth getting. When you play, you're not just playing a regular video-game, your living the virtual life of another person. You can date, do activities with friends, and make choices that could really affect the story in the future, all at your own will and when you want to.

The realism of this game is just incredible. The ragdoll physics are the best I've ever seen, but whats really amazing is vehicle damage. The type of damage your car takes isn't preset, dents and damage spots are clearly definable and correspond with points of contact that cause damage. If there's a hole in your tires, they shed, just like in real life.

All in all, this game is a work of art, a masterpeice. GameInformer wrote that it was hard to even put onto paper what the game was like without giving into the erge to play the game again. While that is a little addictive, it is very true for some. I would definitely recommend this game for anybody I meet. It's worth any amount that you buy it for (under $80).

The best of the games lies on details!
It's incredible how Liberty City seems to be alive!. About the missions I won't spoil the fun, besides it's pretty much what it's expected from a grand theft auto game.

Now, the cons: the worst part of the game is the control of vehicles, it's awful. You end up spinning out of nothing, too easily, to the point that the old slow cars are a better option than the fast ones. The same it's with motorcycles with the aggravating that if you fall, you'll lose a lot of health.

I never been a GTA fan because the graphics suck. But after all the hype I must say I'm hook. The graphics are impressive and the story is great. Some people can critize my review because I have played it a total of an hour and say that is not enough time to make review. But its a ten in my book. When they made the GTA for PSP the game was great. So I knew this game would be fun. And it is INCREDIBLE. I turn off the lights when it first came on because I though I was watching a movie. This game so far is great. I bought my PS3 yesterday and this was my first game and I didn't want to play another game.

I never was a huge fan of all the GTA games. Infact the last one I played was the very first one. I just recently got a PS3 and was reading about this game and I was like what the heck! The release date came and I started reading some reviews. I was a little worried about getting the game because of the reviews talking about the game freezing up. Well more 4 and 5 start reviews than 2 and 1 star, I decided to get the game. I turned off my internet option, and the auto save option on the game, and started to play away! This game is amazing! The graphics, the story, the way you have the freedom to do whatever you want. From watching t.v. to getting drunk, (and making you feel real drunk as well the way the camera moves around!) I have only played for a couple of hours so far and just barely scratched the surface of this game. Everyone who complains about the game being too dark or what not, prolly need a new tv. Cause is look pretty damn good on my screen! I can't wait to get deeper into the game, it is almost like you are playing a movie, the plot is great! I will probably buy the next GTA when it comes out. Thank you rockstar for adding a little more excitment to my life as I am currently in Iraq.

Yes, GTA is coming and it will blow away all the competition. This game will redifine the open-world genre. Finally the greatest franchise of all time will take its throne once again.

Not worth the hype

This games has great graphics but I felt like I was doing the same things over and over again. The storyline of this game sucks, it is not creative at all and to me it seems the makers were mostly interested in the graphics and cars, not the game itself. I regret buying this game, I was expecting it to exceed San Andreas but it failed miserably.

Fun game, with excellent graphics; however, lacks an engaging story.

First of all this game is a lot of fun and the graphics are stunning, not to the full capability of the PS3 but the system has only been out for a year...I would be disappointed if the graphical capability was maxed out already. Many have reported glitches however I have had no problems as far as that goes. The controls are much improved over previous versions of the game, the new driving controls are different and require some getting used to but I like them as they allow you more control once you've mastered them. The combat is much improved, it is easy to move and aim. The cover system allows you to slide quickly to cover that isn't close by, and keeping Niko in free aim keeps the camera over your shoulder making it much easier to maneuver tight spaces and combat situations.

The games story falls flat, it is decent but not great, and is the only reason this game is not perfect. Everything starts out well, the characters are well developed and detail and you feel like you can really relate to Niko, but somewhere in the middle alot of the more interesting characters stories come to a dead end and the story gets dull. The mission begin to get really repetitive and you could careless if you complete the game. The game is undeniably worth the money, but compared to the story of San Adreas...this game doesn't compare.

Pros: Great graphics, huge amount of detail, large area to explore, fun to cause mayhem, large variety of vehicles, interesting new features (combat, cellphone, relationship which while not required can give you great benefits, improved driving/racing), bank robbery mission, and many more.

Cons: Missions get repetitive, story starts out amazing...finishes flat, money is worthless except for guns and taxi, no properties to buy

I would recommend anyone with a PS3 buy this game..its definitely worth 50$...anyone who says otherwise is just mad because the game was a little over-hyped and didn't meet every single expectation they had, or they wanted another game just like San Andreas and they loved the horrible controls and cartoony graphics.
