It doesn't deserve a 10, but it is an accomplishment.

While dozens of websites claim that GTA 4 deserves and undeniable 10, I strongly believe that they are simply avoiding some major draw backs that would detter such a score. #1. Getting from place to place to do a 5 minute mission is very annoying. The city is so gigantic that driving at top speeds from one end to another takes more than 5 minutes. Add on constant traffic disturbance, sensitivity of the wanted level, it takes to long and it gets boring. #2. While its hardcore and all, most missions are repetitive. Kill the snitch there. Chase him down. Beat his brains. Take out the gang. I mean, they could add some puzzle element or SOMETHING. Maybe having to get through a trap, or trying to untie yourself from embezzlement by your aposing adversaries. I mean there is often little veriety. #3. Camera is aweful at times especially in tight areas #4. Nico's moves are unresponsive and slow in the most desperate moments which can end in failure of a mission. Weapons cycling is confusing and it takes too long. I'd like to stress the unresponsiveness of the controls, because it makes the cliche missions even less enjoyable.

Now the pros: #1. there is a startling level of detail in the city. It is absolutely incredible how the developers managed to make the city so beautiful, and so gigantic (which isn't always a good thing, but nevertheless.) Everything from gorgeous day cycles, weather effects, respectable textures, vehicle shine and collision rendering, the maticulous physics behind everything and anything in the game, being it a trash can, water or a helicopter. #2. There is a great bit of civilian humor, from hundreds of diolouges developed for just the insignificant civilians themselves, as well as interactions. The voice acting is often top notch, which makes the average story more than tolerable. And the radios are fun, especially the talk radios which are hilarious. Again, the appreciatable humor. Great sound effects from everything in the city. #3. There is actually alot to do in the city than people think, with shops and food stores and internet cafes gun shops, all these fun little things that give life to the city. #4. More importantly, its fun to cause havoc, and you have a great arsenal to do so with. Of course it's nothing new to GTA, but I'd say its a little more fun this time around with the amazing next gen. graphics. #5. There is alot too unlock, an immense veriety of secrets to discover. This will keep you hunting the city even after the main game.

wanna steal a car go for it, a helicopter sure, kill groups of school children with a sub machine gun, no problem. you can even suicide bomb people and places. now you can even drink get drunk and drive around. (its hard)pick up [...] at the strip club.

and thats just in single player mode. you can do all these things to real people online :) or team up with a buddy and do them together.

and we can all thank rockstar for making a game which will piss off more groups of people then any other. this game has been criticized and protested from many organizations such as MADD, and many other "pissed off parent groups" who would rather legislation raise there children then do it them selves. it costs $[...] dont buy it for you kids [...]. and if they steel the money they you have bigger problems then this videogame.

The graphics are awesome, and the game overall is terrific. Being able to play online with others is really a cool feature too!

If you don't have this game ........get it... its worth it

So GTA4 finally came in lastnight and i finally got time to play it today. i must say for someone that hasn't played any of the previous GTAs i was really blown away. i only had like an hour to play this game today (try playing this game with a 1 year old running around) but within that 1 hour i was already hooked. the cut scenes were really nice i think niko's cousin roman is kinda annoying but thats his character. i really need to sit down for a few hours and actually play this game. i am not a serious gamer so i think i won't be breezing through this game anytime soon. at time during the free roaming i found myself just stopping right in the middle of the street and just looking at all the detail this game has. the driving i still got to get use to, i mean i ran over quite a few people haha. but i know once i get to play a little more it will be alright. really do think this game is just crazy good. the detail alone in the graphics and what u can do in the city is reason enough to get this game. if u don't have it .... go get it .. its worth it

This game is fun but really disapointing due to the fact they game states that you rarely ever see the same people twice which isn't true. the cars are limited that you don't have much of a selection and you can't fly a plane which is a huge disapointment not only that, you can't even go into the airport. you can't enter most bulidings but grand theft auto claimed you could. it doesn't live up to anything they said. they still have a long way to go.

The best way to sum up this game is "it is what it is." That may sound rather short and empty, but to me if you've played GTA games before then nothing here is going to surprise you. The main character goes around stealing cars and "working" for crime bosses in different parts of the city just as in all three previous versions. The differences are limited, and that's a fact whether you want to believe it or not. The graphics are better, they offer some different weapons and cheat codes, and there is a decent multiplayer aspect. However, at the end of about 10 hours playing it, you'll definetly get the feeling you've "played this before". I'm not saying its a bad game, it is a solid installment of GTA series, but don't buy it expecting it to be anything more than that. Enjoy.

It's Nice to be back in the world of GTA, Pickin up Ho's and Killin Cops has never been so much fun! If you havent bought the game, then do so.

I really do not understand what was the big deal about this game. IT WAS SOOOOO SHORT!!! The only thing really different and somewhat helpful was the new taxi option. I Think the story sucked bigtime. When I reached the final mission, I was just like WTF?! The game is really short. I enjoyed playing it however and the graphics are somewhat better than San Andreas. San Andreas had a much better story than GTA:4 though. It seemed as though they tried to be like the Scarface game with many parts of the game like the wanted level thing. You can't even talk to the people around you.The Cheating in the game is HORRIBLE!! You have to enter cheats by a stupid cell phone and its difficult to use because if you're being shot at you cant pick up the phone to enter a cheat. That was the biggest problem I had with the game because I use the health and weapon code a great deal. I expected so much more from this game. I'm not saying its a bad game, just saying its really not worth paying 60 bucks on. If I were you, I'd wait until the price dropped to get it.

Es muy buen juego pero para esta entrega esperaba mucho mas.

Esta vesion es mas interactiva muy real y le agregaron muchos detalles pero tiene menos armas que las versiones anteriores, no tiene aviones (no se pueden pilotear), menos modelos de elicopteros, menos modelos de motos y a decir verdad demasiado corto, pudieron haber aprovechado mucho mas el espacio que brinda el Blu-ray.

Es buen juego y tiene muy buenas graficas ya que esta hecho para 1080p, pero esperaba mucho mas.
