This is probably the best linear, platformer, "buddy"(even though Ratchet & Clank hate each other in the middle of the game)game.

I played this at someone's house once upon a time, but since R&C 2 is already out and R&C 3 is just around the corner, skip this. It's not that the game isn't cool, but it's old (although graphically, they're almost identical). On the other hand, you can "import" weapons you buy in R&C 1 into R&C 2, so there is SOME value here. Not to mention the nicely-done plot.
This game is really, really amazing

I love Ratchet and Clank. I especially like Ratchet. The graphics are awesome. Clank is one of the best characters I've encountered in game playing. You should definitely check out this game.
_Going Commando_ is definately preferable...but this is fun!

I do think this is a good game, and it's lots of fun and crazyness, but it's incomparable to _Going Commando_. My only real beefs with this game are that you can't quick select and freeze the game; everything is in real time, so you have to make sure you're either far from any danger or quick with your fingers. Also, there are no weapon upgrades, and as for Nanotech, there are only four units that can be lost before you die. If you want to upgrade your Nanotech, you have to *buy* upgrades, and not just earn them. There is no strafe, which can be quite useful with multiple targets.
But this is not to say that I don't LIKE this game; on the contrary, I think it's quite addictive and fun. Some of the weapons are pretty cool (I'm especially fond of the Glove of Doom, with the four mini-robots which jump out and destroy closeby targets), and some of the gadgets are pretty nifty. All in all, I'd give this game 3 1/2 to 4 out of 5.
One of the best platformers ever made

This is a great, well rounded game. It has been a lot of fun for our 9, 7 and 41 year old players. The levels are challanging, but you can achieve all the goals. The graphics are incredible. There are a lot of interesting equipment and weapons to use. This is an awesome game that I highly recommend to kids of all ages.
That's cool! ... Oh, that's cool!

That's what I keep saying as I play. That's cool! It's so much fun! My husband and I like platform games, but I'm usually the one playing, and I'm pretty picky about what I like. Rayman2 (for N64 or PS2) is one of my all-time favorites, for example. Spongebob Squarepants (PS2) is another really good one, although it's obviously meant for a younger crowd--still fun, and really funny (booty figures prominently toward the end). If you have played those and like them, Ratchet and Clank fits into this same category, I think, and if you like Ratchet & Clank, you might consider Rayman and Spongebob. Anyway, it's really fun, it's funny, and you get really cool gadgets with which you can smack, bomb, torch, and crunch your enemies with. Clank, Ratchet's little sidekick, reminds me of the Iron Giant and David Hyde Pierce (that's a compliment, by the way). Anyway, lots of fun! Can't wait for Ratchet & Clank 2!
Amazing platformer

Let me tell you, I am addicted to this game...If you buy it, be prepared to be amazed. The graphics are amazing, the worlds are enormous and full of surprises, there are dozens of crazy weapons to choose from, a storyline full of twists and turns, a relationship between Ratchet and Clank, special helmets, gloves, boots, hoverboard races....probably more I can't remember right now. If I haven't convinced you out there,...something's terribly wrong.....
Like Playing an old Warner Bros. Cartoon!

You know how those rascally characters in the old cartoons could do anything? Now fast forward to the far-flung sci-fi future, become Rachet, a mammal of undefined origin, strap a little robot to his back and take off to save the solar system!
This game is spectatcular. I love it! It has massive 3D environments that are tottally interactive. You can do anything in them! It has great powerups! The guns and gadgets in the game are as good as any first person shooter but with the benifit of COMEDY! Good times! And the animation in the game and in the cut scenes is on par with those mentioned Warner Brothers cartoons! I got intro the characters. The acting is supurb and the writing is great!
All in all, this game is well worth it's modest price. It's fun for all ages, and the violence in the game is all cartoon violence (against robots). I play a lot of games. This game is solid.
Great Game

This is a very good solid title. Ive read other reviews even from magazines giving this one a great review. I myself have hardly moved from the couch for hours upon hours playing this great solid title. The camera angle can be bad but luckily can be adjusted. Overall this is one of the best for PS2 and hope for a sequel!
Insomniac Games is back, and better than ever!

One of the first PS2 games that I definately wanted to get was Spyro 4. My reason was because, of course, it was a Spyro game. However, it ... so much, it wasn't even worthy of that name. Ratchet and Clank, however, is THE game for Spyro fans to get. It has tons of worlds, funny characters, and an enjoyable plot. Oh yeah, and it's fun to play, too. You can choose from 15 awsome weapons, including a rapid-fire homing missle laucher ( A.k.a. The R.Y.N.O., or Rip Ya a New One), a taunting machine to lure your enemies into traps, and a device that turns enemies into poultry. The game is fairly difficult, yet it has tons of replay value, and even a few unlockables. If you want an action/adventure/platformer/shooter/ just plain fun, look no further (farther?) than Ratchet and Clank.
