I rented this one (thankfully) and all I can say is I understand the people who completely hate it and the ones that like it. Everyone is right and for today's standard the graphics are pretty bad though by no means make the game unplayable. As for the voice acting....personally I think it may be the best part. I have been laughin' my butt off for hours and hours thinking about it. Then again I am not sure that the makers really intended it to be joke, even so it is freakin' hilarious. Yes the inventory system is just barely tolerable as everyone has reported and I will be honest after 5 minutes of playing this game I turned off my system and never planned on playing it again. Thanks to a rather boring weekend, I picked it back up and played for a while and all I can say is despite its many many many shortcomings this game does kind of grow on you and almost becomes fun to play. I think the reason for this is the story. While not engrossing, it is at least a tad interesting and seems to move along at a pretty decent pace. Honestly to me the story here is better than Oblivion, which I found to be very slow and boring. Though if comparing the two(as everyone seems to want to do) that is definitely the only place where this game is better than Oblivion. Though I have never completed Oblivion I still play it occassionally just to walk around and enjoy the breath-taking world Bethesda created......you definitely won't find yourself doing that with this one.
Overall my suggestion is rent this one to see if you like it and definitely give it some time. It takes some getting used to without a heck of a lot of guidance (tutorials). If you give it some time I think you will find that even though it isn't a great game it definitely isn't as bad as a lot of people are making it sound. And DEFINITELY don't comapre it to Oblivion because you will more than likely be really really let down.
It's.. ok

I'll admit that going in I wasn't overly enthusiastic about Two Worlds, but I'm trying to leave that out of this review.
I had to knock some points off since you can only play as a guy. It seems odd to me that a game of this genre wouldn't allow for play as a gal.
I knocked HUGE points off for the voice acting. It is BAD. Also they use words like "mayhap" and "me thinks" to give the game a medieval feel, but it just comes across as forced and strange.
The graphics are kinda, enh. Especially compared to Oblivion which (rightly or wrongly) is the first game that comes to mind.
The item stacking system and alchemy system are very cool. They're easy to use and give a real boost to your player.
The way you build up skills is smart. The fact that you can undo past training is very helpful.
Combat has been good so far. It isn't very complicated, but it's a step up from just button mashing.
The world is HUGE, which is a big plus.
Overall I'd say don't pay full price for this game. Or better yet get someone else to buy it for you. You'll probably enjoy it but it isn't going to blow you away.
Definitely Not as Bad as Everyone Says

If you read the other reviews you'll see on Amazon, you'd think this is one of the worst games ever made. As a few other reviewers have stated, I believe this is because many people are trying to compare this game to Oblivion. If you compare pretty much any RPG to Oblivion, you'll feel disappointed because Oblivion raised the bar for next-gen RPGs in so many ways. The bottom line is this game is middle-of-the-road. It's not going to wow you in any way, but if you are an RPG junkie looking for a game to sink your teeth into on Xbox 360, there is a lot to like in Two Worlds.
THE GOOD: The world is huge and very detailed. Once you get yourself a horse and go galloping down the road to the next town, it will feel a lot like Oblivion. The forest areas look very lush and vibrant. There is a lot of area to explore and you will feel like you are adventuring when you explore the world.
The game borrows a lot from Diablo in that there is a ton of loot to find. There are tons of different items in the game and just when you think you've purchased the uber-item you'll find something even better to save your money for. The game also features a unique "stacking" system where you can take multiple copies of the same item and combine them together to make an even more powerful item.
The game also has a decent sense of humor in certain cases. Just wait until you enter a lake to go swimming for the first time. Your character will say "Hmmmmm... wet!" Or if you run across a group of orcs, your character will exclaim "Looks like my inlaws!"
THE BAD: The character models look very generic, especially when compared with Oblivion. The character models just look weird, in general. Their mouths don't really move when they talk, their expressions are not lifelike, and they seem really strangely proportioned. Thankfully, you get a lot of cool armor in the game and when you equip it on your character it improves your characters appearance dramatically.
The voice acting is really bad, especially for your main character. It actually sounds like he is reading from a script (i.e. totally unnatural). He doesn't use voice inflection at all and it will not take long before you are sick of his monotonous, robotic voice. Not all the characters in the game are this bad, but none of them are very good.
The game also isn't very intuitive, in general. If you start the game expecting to pick it up on the fly via some in-game tutorial, think again. There is no in-game tutorial. The inventory system is especially mystifying. When you first start the game, you will spend a decent amount of time just trying to figure out how to pick up items from chests and place them in your inventory. Also, when you are stacking items, it is not just as simple as drag and drop. Who would guess that you need to press the "Y" button first and then press the "X" button to enable the stacking mode? The game doesn't really tell you on-screen. Also, when you are scrolling through shop-keeper lists of items, you use the left-stick, but if you want to move down to the next page of items, you have to use the right-stick. Why the need for two sticks? Wouldn't one stick be more intuitive? The developers didn't think so. You'll find lots of stupid little things like that that will annoy you.
Overall, this game isn't even close to the worst game ever, like many people are touting it to be. I've been playing it for about 10 hours now and I am really enjoying it. You will enjoy this game if:
1) You like RPGs
2) You temper your expectations before buying it (it is definitely not an Oblivion-killer)
3) You spend a little time going through the manual before you get into it (it will save you some frustration of trying to figure out things on your own)
The game is genuinely fun to play if you give it a chance. If you follow this approach I think you will find a lot to like in Two Worlds.
Played it for 5 minutes on the demo

Now i've heard alot of crap about this game... Well those people who don't think this game is good should go play Oblivion and have fun with themselves for awhile.. anyway, right when i started this game i knew i liked it, mostly because im into mmorpgs although this is not an mmorpg this still has the class of one. ive played guild wars for a long time and soon got bored of it and wished that it was on a console. This game is guild wars on a console. clearly put out so anyone who likes guild wars should definetly buy this game. who cares if the graphics arent top notch? well many people do, no matter
the people who will buy and play this game will be the people who are not only interested in the graphics but also interested in the storyline and how the game just feels!
i seriously just downloaded the demo and played it for a max of about 5 minutes killed a couple of goblins and was hooked although i did stop playing after that (computer crashed) i didnt want to play it anymore.. only because i dont want to spoil what the rest of the game has to offer me when i buy it for the xbox 360!
i seriously recommend this game to anyone that is hooked on guild wars or WoW
Have Fun!
not bad at all

Like most people i expected two worlds to be a great game. Most people were dissapointed that it wasnt as good as oblivion and wrote bad reviews. Others played it for the first hour(most boring part of the game)and wrote bad reviews. The secret to this game is patience.
The game has so so graphics but they should be better than the pc version (don't know) Also the sound is great. The gameplay is top notch (two weapons= mass wastage). There are hundreds of weapons and armor and more towns than oblivion. The world is massive but could use polishing up. Also I like the fact you can fight things 20 times your size! Then fighting on horseback: ok, and easier to control on 360 version. The main character sounds monotone but there are some better actors in the game. There are many quests to keep you busy. Leveling up is fast too. Just because it is not an oblivion killer doesnt mean it isnt a good game.(Try demo or rent it first just in case)
Give it a try for more than 3 hours, and you'll like it...

At first, this game was really hard to get used to. Being familiar with Oblivion, it was hard to stop comparing the two. And the narration is REALLY cheesy sometimes. Once you get past that, and you get into the game more, it actually is fun. If you're going to play this game, you can't compare it to Oblivion while you are playing...that just frustrates you. Now my husband and I are fighting over who gets to the XBox first after our daughters are alseep for the night....We're having a lot of fun with it.
Overhyped and just plain terrible...

I was really excited about the idea of a multiplayer "Oblivion-like" game for the 360. I had it preordered and the day it came out I got it home and was very disappointed. The graphics were not next gen, all the character models were horribly rendered, and the voice acting and story just seemed awful.
Overall, worst next gen game I've ever played.
Can I have my money back??

Games like these should not be sold for 59.99, its ridiculous. Sure it has nice grapics but what on 360 doesnt? I will admit that I only played for one hour and did not get very far into the game but when something doesnt grab me from the begining then its NOT good. It might ok or Meh but I sure wouldnt pay 59.99 for meh.. Horrible voice overs, even worse lipsynch, and very bad combat control.
If Oblivion is Lord of the Rings, then this is definently Chronicles of Narnia.

If Oblivion is Lord of the Rings in the 360 RPG world..then this is definently Chronicles of Narnia.
I heard about this game a few months ago and then when I found out it was released in Europe already, I got a bit anxious because the reviews were glowing.
About 2 weeks ago, I got my hands on the PC version(ask no questions I tell no lies!) and that should have been my first indication that all wasnt good in this so called Oblivion killer. I am running a PC with a 512mb Nvidia card, dual core AMD processor, 2gigs of Ram and I was wondering why this game still looked crappy....I played for a day or two and patiently waited for the Xbox version...which looked like the PC version....
Well I won't bore you all with everything that you have heard already heard about the game so let me just highlight a few points
- Graphics: not up to par with next gen graphics so don't go into this expecting this to blow out Oblivion. It has too much pop in as well as draw in and lag and it can be annoying at times especially in combat
- Horse Control is simply out of control it may be easier to simply just walk
- Mapping: One of the things I loved about Oblivion is that the map is detailed enough for you to find whatever it is that you need and get to where ever you have. This game it's difficult and the quest log doesn't help much either
There are other things to be considered which other folks have covered (such as bad camera, shoddy voice acting etc) but moving on...
There are a few redemptive qualities of the game.
Item stacking - how many times have you had to carry 5 duplicated of "the short sword?" this is a great idea that lightens the load and keeps me from running back and forth to a merchant
Making your own magic - just toss a few ingredients together a viola! You get something new! A new power up or new potion and best of all you can do it right out of the gate.
Tons of enemies to fight - This may be one sore spot I didn't like about Oblivion is that there was just too much time between fights where you can just roam at will and not find another character. On this game works almost like an MMORPG where if you have a mob you have to aggro it to get a response and there are plenty of mobs out there.
This game will be a hate it or love it with most RPG fans because altho it fails in a lot of technical areas for the system that it's on...it may be good for some in other areas.
The game isn't 'bad' but it's definently not great either.
This game could have used another couple of months in devlopment and I feel that if it had that time, then yes, it would have been a legendary game. It doesn't help either, that the Euorpean PC release has had 4 patch updates since it's release in late May early June and one could only wonder if the 360 version will get one (and hoepfully it doesn't start a trend of patching console games)
I haven't tried the multiplayer yet so I have nothing to say on it.
My final score on this with be 3 out of 5 stars
A fair game but not Oblivion

I must first admit the whole time I played this game I found myself constantly comparing it to Oblivion ( which I loved ). This might not be fair and is biased on my part. The only conclusion I came to was that there is no comparison between the two. If you like role playing games you will find some measure of enjoyment from Two Worlds although small. The multi player is weak and that is due to server lag. Single player is also weak and repetitive. I was able to finish this game in its entirety in just two weeks. Taking into consideration it took me 6 months to finish Oblivion, Two Worlds is short lived. I would suggest renting this game before purchasing it like I did.
