I loved Onimusha most of all the cool character Samanoske. A couple of months later, It was annoused Onimusha 2 was out ! I ran to the shops bought Onimusha 2 and turned on the PS2. The first thing I noticed The graphics are amazing. Then I see a man that I've never seen before, Now I'm playing I finished the first level then noticed The only guy I knew in this game was Nobunaga.I said to myself wheres Samanoske ? wheres Kaide? wheres Prinsess Yuki ? Big mistake Capcom you've taken out my favorate Onimusha character. Everything else is cool exept the fiddlely contrls. Well, I'm glad Samanoskes in Onimusha 3, I looking foward to that.
Kind of first one, but ending is bad!!!

People always said the Onimusha role is more handsome than the second one, but it's not the problem for me. However, I sill like first one more than second one because the item exchange process is [bad] and unstable in this game. The ending is [bad], too!!! You will feel to fight with final boss like demon may cry, but with less challenges. You only need to do the stupid shoot for the final boss, and wait for the ending. If you like such game, buy the first one or demon may cry. Dont' buy this!!!
Greatest Onimusha game yet

This is one of the best games to play and buy. Onimusha 2 continues the story from the original Onimusha and features a new hero, Jubei, who tries to defeat Nobunaga.
Although the graphics have improved and there are now more character interactions, Capcom still hasn't fixed the control problem. Players are still stuck using the directional pad only. That said, that is the only real problem that plagues the game.
I have played both Onimusha 1 & 2 and they are both great. The story and characters are derived from actual Japanese history and works great. Xbox's game "Otogi" tries to copy the Onimusha series in retelling Japanese history while trying to offer gameplay. Don't be fooled though, Otogi is sub-par compared to Onimusha. In fact, the developers had to re-invent Otogi's final demon boss into a "bad-guy" which in reality is based on the Japanese God of Education. Given the choice between Otogi or Onimusha, purchase the Onimusha series instead.
Really fun and branching stories. What's it worth?

First of all I'd like to say cheers to Capcom for bringing another good game to my collection. Now onto the good stuff!
Story:
A cliche for a story, a village is attacked by demonish soldiers, killing everyone they see. Who's leading them? Nobunaga, the baddie of the first Onimusha. Jubei, the hero, finds his village destroyed and promises revenge. Like I said, a bit cliche but it works.
Score: 4/5
Graphics:
Wow, these are sweet! The character models are very well done, each of them with well done movements. The background graphics are like that of Resident Evil, looking kind of like paintings than actual graphics, but actually I find it better. All together, it's not quite an MGS2 in character models but better than FFX models. As for the backgrounds, I just love them!
Score: 5/5
Sound/Music/Voices:
For the sound, the games got your good old slashes, whacks, shots, and screams. Nothing really special here but nothing at all bad. Music wise, I found it to be very nice. Each NPC (Non Playable Characters) have their own "tune." The music in the CG movies are great, and I thought were worth noting. Now for the voices. Please note I'm not really a big complainer on voice-overs. Here, I thought most of the voices were actually pretty good. Ekei (the bald monk) was suited well, and Kintaro (the ninja) and Oyu (the Western Sword Fighter) were also done well enough for my tastes. The only guys that got me thinking "This could be better" are Jubei and Magoichi (the Gun Expert.) Magoichis voice was kinda fitting but didn't quite sound like he should've. As for Jubei, the same as Magoichi. I'm a fan of David Hayter as Solid Snake, but as Jubei he didn't quite fit.
Score: 4/5
Controls and Overall:
The controls are simple, although some will have to get used to them. You can't use the analog sticks to move, just to let you know. Killing and sucking up souls is still easy, so no problems are evident. As for the game overall, I think it's worth a buy, or at least a rent. The branching story lines are what makes this game great.
Later.
Better than Onimusha: Warlords, but is is worth it?

This game is a good game, much better than the first game. While the game started out promising thinking to yourself "this is only the first part" I cant wait til later on in the game. Unfortunatley the later part feels like a rehash of the first game with the same old Capcom Survival Horror elements. SUre the new companions, weapons, Lenght, Replay Value, and graphics are a added plus but the overall feel makes Onimusha 2 so stale that you really consider this game all that great. I can recomend this game for people who are hardcore survival horror fans. (especially people who likes the first Onimusha)

THE GOOD:
great visual effects of lighting and water.
character design is just unbelivable.... i have never seen such well designed characters they seem so life like and real i just want to go up to oyu and kiss her *wait bad thoughts bad thoughts*. Allot of challenge hard mode will give you a run for your money and if thats not enough critical mode will surely push you to your limits, good luck my fellow samurai not that you just might need it. the new issen flash move not only looks really cool but makes those annoying repeditive random monster battles go allot faster. The trading game is just pure fun not only can it help make the game easier but its just fun to mess with people by giving them odd items like love poitions parrots maybe even a drug (i'm talkin about the pipe but everyone but magoichi gets offended if you give it to them). lastly the CG is once again stunning. After beating hard mode you'll get ultimate mode and thats really fun ( infinate bullets/ fire arrows, start off with rekka-ken with infinate special oh yeah dats fun)
THE BAD:
the control could definetly use some improvement.
i think they should have added in some more button combo moves.
THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF OYU.....or atleat make the game longer....
SUMMARY:
well i think this far surpasses onimusha 1 but samanosuke will always be sam da man in my eyes
i love onimusha2
