OK, I'd like to start off saying that I haven't bought a PC game in well over a year. Just nothing out there that I would want. However, LOTR: BFME might just be a game that gets me to break my game buying hiatus. Well, there's a couple coming out between now and then that I may buy if I can afford to. But anyway, there's a few issues that I worry about with this game.
Yes, the graphics are good, based on a up-dated version of the Command & Conquer: Generals engine, which is supposed to be able to support thousands of 3D animated troops on the field. But what about replayability? Being that this game is based on a 25 mission campaign as such, what will be the replay value? Will there be "skirimish modes"? Or once you're done with the campaign, you're done? Let's hope not. In fact, I'd like a random campaign generator that allows you to use the main Middle Earth strategic map to cruise around and fight your own battles. I wanna fight a battle at The Shire, darn it! Imagine an Urak-hai ransack of The Shire! Dead little Hobbitt'sis every where....
But anyway, this game, at least for its graphics and revolutionary RTS control features, should be a good addition to any RTS fan's collection.
Not as good as I was expecting

To be honest, I had high expectations, and I was disappointed. The construction aspects of the game are not very customizable or in depth, and therefore not very fun in my opinion. I expected to feel more like I was in the midst of these epic battles, but the camera, and the controls, and the construction did not give me this experience.
OMG!!!!!!!!

I cant believe it!!! The game's release has been pushed from 11/15 to 12/6! Two more weeks of waiting is awful!! I've heard 11/15 since March and now its pushed back. The game looks amazing and having to wait like 3 more weeks is complete and total tourture! (Cooling down)...But I guess if we have to wait this long they have a good excuse for it. If it makes the game more amazing then its ok with me and my friends (hopefully...).

I can not wait to get this game... I thouroughly enjoyed The War Of The Ring as a RTS... but I have one problem.... it says that It is based off of the Movie Trillogy... now I hate to gripe but why not base it off the books? The movies were a little out there (the stupid Elves at Helms Deep is enough to make a true J.R.R. Tolkien fan go mad... and Bombadil... ho! Don't go there!) But otherwise... the idea of mounting an attack of over 500 troops at a time gives me the feeling that this is about to be a bit of a power trip!

The graphics are amazing The effects that come with the graphics. It's very intense, yet with strategy. It's playable for a long time. It has a relatividly good AI. There are a few bugs, but most of them are fixed with the patches.
For better gameplay, download the Elvenstar mod when purchased. This makes the game bigger, and adds better graphics.

I had always espected great things from this game, but it greatly exceeded my expectations! It is tons of fun, a game you can play for hours on end. It's easy to get used to the new style of the game, but the strategy is so deep and complicated, that it takes a while to master.

I strongly recommend this masterpiece of a game to anyone who likes The Lord of the Rings. I'd give it a 10 out of 5 if I could.

This game sports impressive visuals and captures the feels of the movie perfectly, but, as a game, it is a total failure. The gameplay is repetitive and boring. The only challenge comes from dealing with the AI of your own units, which has a tendency of refusing to follow your orders. This will keep you busy re-issuing those orders, but it is not what I have in mind as fun.
The game of a lif time.
