First NFS thats failed to deliver

NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 is basicly a PC to console NFS: High Stakes and all the unrealistic qualities of a console game to go with it. But HP2 is not all bad, its somewhat fun to race in career mode and unlocking cars and tracks is fairly regular which helps to keep the game moving. I would say that this game is more multiplayer then single player. The Hot Pursuit mode is really fun, but the lack of car realism when driving is maddening. Corners come pretty smoothly and usually you can take them but when hitting a side rail your car will merely bounce off. I'm not sure that the cars all handle realistically.
In the Hot Pursuit mode you are a cop trying to stop speeders, through ramming, speed blocks, and spike strips. Personally I don't think I would buy Hot Pursuit 2 because there are better buys out there. Look into the GT series or any other car game with more emphasis on the cars and part upgrades, but if you want a quick jump into a nice sporty looking car and to evade the local smokey (or be one) then I guess HP2 is your ticket...I guess

How Much I Like NFS Hot Pursuit 2

I like NFS Hot Pursuit 2 because of the cars but I don't like the Hot Pursuit races. They make you stop your racing often because the police throw spike strips, bombs, and other obsticals into the road. I do like the cars though because they are all fancy cars for example Ferraris and Porsches.

Impressed with the graphics...

I'm impressed with the graphics in this game. EA has outdone itself. I'm addicted and can't put it down. You get past the cop cars as long as you floor it and if you can force them into objects. They'll give up if they can't catch up with you. Also if a cop car forces you into a guard rail you can do a 180 and go around them. I've had plenty of escapes in reverse with 180s back in the right direction. Get the game if you like to race. It is fun.

Best Racing game ever

When I heard Need For Speed Hot Pursuit would come out I was pretty excited knowing that EA Games was finally making a Need For Speed game for the Playstation 2. When I went to buy the game it was sold out. I thought to myself "This must be a really good game," Next week I buy and boy I was right. The graphics are incredible. The cars are nicely detailed. Cops now have a helicopter that shoots down bombs that really affect your car by making you lose control. They also drop bombs that turn to spike strips(very effective) The enviroment is really nice. The soundtrack is good. Nice Techno in it. 49 cars 30 tracks can't ask for any more. This will be one of the best Playstation 2 games ever.

The version to buy, and the best NFS yet.

Since this is the first Need for Speed game since the PlayStation One days, it is leaps and bounds ahead of the former games. I have always been a fan of the series ever since the original on 3DO(!). I started out buying the XBOX version, but swapped it at the store for the PS2 version (I heard the PS2 version was better, and believe me, it is)!

This version of the game brings a lot of great cars and new elements into the game, borrowing from games such as Project Gotham (style points, unlocking cars with points), and Spy Hunter (helicopters firing explosive barrels and missiles at you in Hot Pursuit mode). The PlayStation 2 version is exciting and fast, the XBOX one plays like a beta version, slow and sloppy, and doesn't have as many features or the same level of polish.

kick ass!!

This game definately has really good graphics and sound. But like special effects in movies these days, they are no substitute for substance.
Essentially this game is Pole Position with good graphics. 90% of the time I played (and I played it for maybe ten hours) I was pedal to the floor... braking was not required. I won 95% of the races the first try. There's just no skill required to holding the gas wide-open, and that started to bore me after about five hours. (I kept playing just to see what cars came next... definately some impressive ones. But all of them could be held full-throttle almost all the time.)
Also, what is up with the loop-tracks? With traffic?! Aside from making no sense, the tracks seemed to lack point. If it's a race track, make it a race track. If it's a street track, make it open-ended. Driving on a three-mile circular street with traffic?
Finally, I really wish NFS would bring back the good in-car views like NFS1. I like seeing what inside of the car looks like, and to feel like I am driving it when I free-ride.
If being floored non-stop and not having much challenge is your idea of a good game (and you believe graphics rule over gameplay) then this one will make you happy. If you're looking for a good racing game involving skill and realism, look elsewhere.

Is it just me???

Am I the only one who didn't like this game???
The control is terrible. The cars neither turn nor brake.
You slide around the track, if you can even stay on it, that is.
Also the racing is boring, with very dull scenery.
Oh, and the graphics aren't all that great, with a very grainy appearance and a funny framerate...
Oh well, I can always play Burnout or Burnout2 instead!!!

same old thing

this is just another racing game. like most games, it starts out fun and then gets so difficult so quickly that the whole experience is ruined. i like the first couple of levels, then it's just too hard. buy this if you really need a racing game, i'm not saying there's a better one out there. i played it maybe 5 hours total over the course of 2 weeks. i threw my controler at the tv so many times i can't believe it didn't break. i'd gladly trade this game for a 12-pack of Coors in bottles. (...)

better than GT3

For those looking for a game involving high-end, detailed, monstruous cars, and non stop speed, then there is no other game to recommend except this. It is not incredibly realistic which, to be honest, is the sweet part about this game. It is unlike GT3, which I regret buying, because this game is pure speed, easy controlling, and has an amazing selection of cars to choose from. It has nearly the same amount of cars as GT3. I was surprised there were no porsches, but the amount of Mclarens's compensates for that. I am not sure if the perfect El Nino car is in the game, as there are no cheats published yet, I think. But that doesnt bother me and I hope it doesnt bother anyone else. Another thing, having some experience with the previous Need for Speeds will obviously help, apart from High Stakes because that game was atrocious! Lastly, Im just in love with the wrecks and crashes. It is far superior compared to the lack of damage in GT3, I recommend flipping the car, because pieces of the car go soaring up, trust me its fun. Therefore, order now and try and stay calm it will eventually be released, unless you are me and get the Japanese/bootleg version. You will have fun beyond all other racing games.

p.s. As I am English I highly recommend the Vanquish
The Z8 is nice but nothing compared to the Murcielago
