Cops Good. Customizing Bad.

I really enjoy the police chases, blasting through the roadblocks, etc. What I miss from NFSU2 is all of the customization options. I want to be able to mix and match tons of parts like before. The sound system could have been improved rather than eliminated. And where is the neon underglow that looked so great at night?
I don't like the new city nearly as much. It's gritty and industrial and seems to all be kind of the same. The color and life of NFSU2 is gone. NFSU2 also had some very distinct areas, from the rich suburbs and winding mountain roads, down to the glitzy city of lights, the airport, the grungy harbor area. You could go wherever you felt in the mood for. It felt like a real city along the lines of a GTA.
It didn't bother me that parts used to be located in different shops. That just made it seem more realistic, and when you could find, say, a visuals shop right next to a body shop, that was a place you wanted to come back to. Perhaps one-stop shopping was invented to make it less obvious how little customizing there is this time around.
The police chases were a great addition, and take it to a new level, but I feel that the time was just not taken to create a vibrant city that you'd want to spend any time just looking at. Drifting was also far too much fun to be left out. Even small touches like the visual of driving onto a dyno track to adjust your ride added realism, where now it's just a quick dropdown of sliders.
Hopefully the next attempt will combine the best of both worlds. I can see a lot of potential for the series.
Great fun. Make sure to play it with Force Feedback Wheel.

I have played many of the NFS series. This one and NFS Hot Pursuit 2 are the best. To me, this game would not be very playable with a regular gamepad. I purchased the Logitech Force Feedback Pro wheel and it makes ALL the difference. Precise control. The game takes on a whole new level of realism. You get a much better feel for how the different cars react. The game does get progressively harder. Getting on the Blacklist is easy, getting to number 1 is not. Some of the milestones can be ridiculously hard, but it is awesome when you finally get past them. I do wish I had bought the Black Edition, but the regular one was good for hours and hours of fun. I would say there is a decent level of replay-ability to it too.

I have been enjoying playing this game. Once you get used to the speed brake and the nos button, your on your way to mastering this game. This defenitly beats Need for Speed2: Hot Persuit.
1.I think the game could be better if they had us race at night through the city streets with the buildings aglow like New York or Las Vegas, in a couple of the races.
2. I am getting my cars pretty fast as I try to win the game, my last wish for this game was, to bad the roads have to end before you can really see how fast your car can go, whether your racing or on free time. I always seem to have stop or brake sooner than I'd like to as the road curves as the race track keeps going along.
I am having fun with the game anyways. The milestones requirements give the game a nice touch as it adds more fun to the game as you try to accomplish the task and avoid getting your car impounded. Good game !

While my love will always be with EA'a Underground series, I found Need for Speed: Most Wanted to be the refreshing break I've been needing with all my videogame playing as of late. Some of you might look at Most Wanted as being Need For Speed Underground with Cops but I'm here to tell you that it's something more. First thing you 'll notice when starting the Career mode is that this one actually has a storyline set behind it. The story is told with a mixture of CGI & FMV blended together. It's a style that seems to fit this game quite well. Yet don't expect to see neon lights and wet city streets in this game, it ain't gonna happen. I think the one thing you will notice, without a doubt, is the fact that the cars actually feel like cars. They're heavier and react more like real cars when crashing into things. Unlike in the NFSU series where the cars seem lighter & defy the laws of physics at times. In Career mode, you work your way up the blacklist of 15 drivers to reach number one(Razor) who took your ride by cheating but, make no mistake, you'll have your work cut out for you. For every driver you go up against, you'll have a set number of wins & things you have to do to challenge them. Thankfully, the cops that chase you in the game may be agressive but they are-I'm afraid to say- the dumbest cops I've seen in any NFS game. While there are times when they provide a good challenge, most of the time they can be beaten. The list of cars in the PS2 version is pretty huge with favorites like the Toyota Supra, Corvette, Mustang GT, Dodge Viper, and the Cadillac CTS all making an appearance. The sense of speed in the game is good as well, although you're not going to find the kind of speed you see in NFSU. There is enough speed to please the speedfreak in you. Musically, EA tapped talent to give it more of that 'Most Wanted' feel to it &, for the most part, it works in the game.
Overall, Need For Speed: Most Wanted is an enjoyable game with alot of replay value. Definitely one of the more fun NFS games presently out there.

My top reason for buying this in the first place was the presence of the police- the thing that had drawn me to Need for Speed in the first place. The story is not the cliche "build your reputation by winning loads of races for no reason." In this game, you start out with a super fast car, but it's sabotaged by your opponent, and so you lose the race and he gets the pink slip (ownership of the car). Now you must work your way back up to where you were before- on top of the Blacklist, the most wanted by the police. So basically, you have 15 rivals that you must beat by participating in and winning stock races and completing "milestones", challenges in where you outrun the police while causing as much damage as possible, totalling as much PCs as possible, blasting through roadblocks, etc. You gain money from races, which can be invested in performance upgrades, or the useless visual upgrades to make your car look cooler. There's many different visual upgrades from real-life brands, with options such as rims, spoilers, hood/roof scoops, body kits, paint jobs, etc. And of course, cars galore, with around 40 to choose from. Here's the lowdown:
PROS
-fast-paced, action-packed gameplay as you try to race ahead of your oppponents and outrun police- or both at the same time
-real-life cars and real-life upgrades with countless combinations to suit your style
-little learning curve with a great control setup
-your car is no longer so ridiculously fast you're driving circles around the police. nor are the police so stupid, bumbling, and slow they can't keep up with a car doing 80 (pretty slow by NFS standards)
-GREAT AI AND POLICE TACTICS: the police employ roadblocks, spike strips, helicopters, and even heavy SUV rammers in a ruthless attempt to stop you dead in your tracks. the police don't just chase you around any more, they may try to box you in or get into formation and then suddenly hit the brakes on you. backup comes periodically, instead of just 5 police cars in the entire city at all times. in fact, NFS Carbon has MW cop-AI.
CONS
-REALISM: you can get into huge crashes that will only slow you down, and the most damage you can ever receive is broken windows and flat tires.
-sometimes there are little invisible barriers along the sides of a road. for example when driving along the guardrail on the freeway sometimes the car seems to crash and then suddenly stop.
-DIFFICULTY: in later points in the game where you must achieve massive feats against the police (i.e. dodge 10 spike strips or damage 22 police vehicles), it is VERY FRUSTRATING. because even after you achieve this, you must evade the police by staying out of visual contact with the police (takes a few minutes), and this is almost impossible with police cars that are fast as you (avg speed around 120) and..HELICOPTERS! in fact, MW cops are in NFS carbon, with less equipment to bust you with. but don't think that'll be easy!
-IN-GAME MUSIC: mild lyrics at worst, though i never paid much attention to the songs or understood the lyrics, but i easily noticed how about 10 different songs were recycled throughout the entire game. however, i recall a reviewer saying there were over 30 in the game.
NOTE: The "T" for "Teen" rating is simply for the lyrics of the songs that play while you're racing. Nothing too vulgar, in fact, I'm not quite sure because I never paid attention to the song, nor do most songs have lyrics that are easily understandable at first listen.
great game but it leaves some stuff out

This game is great. here are some things about it.
Pros: There are tons of nice cars.
great graphics
cops
you can destroy stuff on the street
tons of stuff to tune your car
new race events
if you beat a boss and you get a pink slip you get that boss's car
you can destroy cop cars.
cons: almost immediatly after beating a race, you have to try to not get caught by the cops.
there are some stuff that is not on this game than the last game like spinners, neon (but who needs it in this game, because you are driving during the day time), split hoods, custom doors.
after you beat the game you can't do free roam in quick race where you can drive your cars in My Cars.
well i hope the cons won't keep you from buying a really fun game.

My son recieved this as a Christmas gift and after watching the chases that he gets in I'm convinced that he better not ever ask for the keys to my car. It is action packed, but what I like the most is that there is NO bad language. It's a game my older son can play with his 5 year old brother in the room. Thanks need for speed.
Get this game!

NFS Most wanted is just about the best racing game combining cool cars, countless pursuits, and neck to neck racing. There are very few problems with the game. For starters, no Ferraris. I know, I know it sucks, but you still get to tear it up witha SLR Mclaren, ASton Martin DB9,Viper SRT10, Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago, Porsche Carrera Gt, Corvette C6, Ford Gt, and Mustang. Did I mention thats just the top cars? Also, you can't be the cop, but by the way the game appears its practicly the point. Carreer mode's the meat of the game, with hair raising persuits, neck to neck races, and blacklist challenges (where you can try to get the pink slip, favors to get you outta trouble with the cops, and special upgrades). Pursuits are AWESOME. The cops flip far and it's unbelievable to watch your car run through a roadblock, and continue (unlike Hot Pursuit). Ocasionally you can watch or start a crazy stunt witha traffic car or cop car. It's a very organized way of playing. t's easy to learn, hard to master. The longer you play, the more rep you build and te more fun you have. If you don't like to keep on having to do redo your paint jobs, you'll like this alot. Although paint on street racer cars scrapes and windshields crack, their all auto fixed, no charge, when you enter your safe house, a ride dealer, or part shop. Good thing is traffic cars and cops do get damaged. Theirs also challenge series, where you race and actually get to drive a few other cars like a garbage truck or race the police corvette deeper down into it. It came out in November, so what re you waitin for? If you want a bit more, check out the Black edition.
Oh, and if you start to have problems, you might need to clean your PS2, which requires a kit, but yu wont need to open your PS2, it's a cleaning disk. And if you get any blacklist pink slips, remember, you can't get that paint job ANYWHERE else. Trust me I tried.

When they said 'most wanted' they weren't kidding. Milestone or Bounty mode can have dozen of cops on your tail..shaking them off it's the most challenging and fun part of the game. I love the game over all but decided to write a review b/c I there is a major problem with the game which is from time to time it freezes w/o a reason. Especially when you are playing milestone or bounty race. It happened at least 4 times so far and usually after near completion of the milestone the game would freeze. Just a minute before the same thing happened again. Hence, I'm writing this review. If you faced the same problem plz post your review so I know I'm not the only one.
