Although it's got pretty good graphics, the regular version crashes, Alot! Sometimes I find myself not ending my game because I want to, but because it just crashes. Overall: A pretty good game, but only if you don't mind restarting it every mission or so. Also, the mission editor is really hard to learn if you don't read the manual.

I waited to buy a new computer before getting this. I bought a brand-new computer with what I THOUGHT was enough memory, a good graphics card that ran well on everything BUT this and even a new joystick.
Suffice it to say that I was surprised when this game locked up frequently and one of the flight demos would not even play!
Suffice it to say I was even MORE surprised to air my concerns on the forum for this game to be told that my brand-new computer is too antiquated for this game!
The game got traded-in. If you don't have a dedicated platform for gaming only with a lightspeed processor, a $10,000 graphics card and 3,000,000 GB of memory you'll have problems with this.
I never could map my joystick buttons to even be able to fire a weapon.
And suffice it to say as well that I did not like the on-disk ink-sucking "manual" and "reference card"...a disturbing trend among most games these days.
At least Ubi-Soft still have done well with IL-2 Sturmovik!
Incredible! Clearly requires very fast hardware.

Undoubtedly the most realistic looking and sounding (maybe flying) flight simulation ever. Graphics are a small step from photographic. Add some 3d glasses and you are in the cockpit! My girlfriend doesn't remember me. This game is really designed for the next generation of computers, though, at least in order to appreciate all the eye candy. It still looks excellent at the low graphics settings, at which it will run very smoothly with a 1.6, 128mb card, 512mb ram. There are definitely a few bugs, despite all the delays in bringing it to market. I'm not worried. It's still quite playable, and there will probably be a patch soon.
Wait for the bug fixes before you buy.

I just installed Lock On and tried to make it run on three different computers. One with Xp Home the other 2 with Windows Millenium. All with good graphics cards and 512 memory.None worked. It crashes at start up or gives you a white screen and a partial menu on the left and then it crashes.I checked out the forums at Lock On site and I found numerous complains about the same problem and no date for a patch fix from the people at Lock On.

Although the game has a few annoying bugs at the time of the release, the game is graphically stunning, good flight models, complex AI behaviour, detailed avionics and you get not 1 but 5 distinctly different aircraft to fly. No other modern jet sim of this complexity and detail gives you this. Its the future of modern combat simulations.
I would have given it 5 stars except that it loses a star because you really need to mess around with your system and game settings to get decent frame-rates. Its a shame because i fear this product will lose many would-be fans because of this.
I suggest to stick with it, read the 'read-me' file, download the latest patch and head-over to the official forums to get any problems resolved.
ITS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!

Come on, you don't mean that. THERE'S NO SUCH A FLIGHT SIM GAME FOR CONSOLES as far as I know. Do you like "FRAG and RESPWAN" kind of action? Go outside, buy, and play counter-strike whatever crap.. If you are bitching about this excellent sim comparing to ACE COMBAT 4, you are in the wrong place. Period.
"OMG?" Was not comparing LOMAC to AC4

What an idiot. If you read the whole review (writer from Los Angeles on 12/25/03) you would understand that the review was not comparing LOMAC to Ace combat 4. They are two different types of games. That is the point I was making. One is an arcade and one is a sim. If you read the previous reviews you would see that someone was upset that LOMAC was not like AC4. That is why I made my point. When LOMAC works it is the best combat flight sim known to man. There is no comparison amongst flight sims. By the way I do have other things to do than sit around and read and write reviews. I'm just not doing them:-)

Very realistic flight model and gorgeous graphics. I haven't seen all the sims out there, but this is the best that I've seen.
