I love this game. Graphics are amazing. Game was 3 years in the making. They are still in the process of ironing out some bugs. The patch will be out soon enough. Plenty of things to do in the sim though until the patch comes out.
But be forwarned this is a high fidelity flight sim. It has very high system hardware requirements and a very high learning curve. And you need to patiently learn how to fly. Probabbly will take you 6 months at 3 hours a day to learn everything in this sim. This sim is not suited for kids. Adults only who have the patience to visit the lock on online forum every day and ask questions in a nice way. Don't be rude or you will be banned from the forum.
My personal congrats to the Eagle Dynamics Team and UBI on a wonderful sim that breaks new ground. I love the effort they put into this game.
If you just want a shootem up flight sim this is not your game.
If you want to be a fighter pilot and fly in an online squadron that takes alot of your free time this is your sim.
Be forewarned this sim could make you get a divorce, lose your job, fail out of school, and lose your friends. It is very addictive.
Better have alot of power

Just tried to run the demo on a machine with a 3.06GHz P4, 512MB Memory, and a 64MB/Radeon 9000 card. It was completely unplayable. With minimal display settings, the frame rate was probably somewhere around 2 FPS. I don't know what they expect you to be able to run this game on, but you will definitely need more than you think you will. Be very wary of this game. I gave it 3 stars because it does look like a good game. It's a shame they couldn't make it more PC friendly.

I must say that this game does look beautiful. Its visualizations are gorgeous.
HOWEVER, the game lacks in many other aspects. No air to ground radar, (What were they thinking)Substandard avionics, absurd system requirements, lack of realism, no dynamic campaign, too simple, non clickable cockpit & many other flaws.
The game is very good, but it cant be compared with legendry games such as Falcon4.0.
Regardless of its flaws, the game does prove to be entertaining for about 15 hours of gameplay. After that it starts dragging.
It desserves a place in the top 20 combat flight simms but its way down the order from Falcon 4.0.
GREAT GAME for simmers, but NOT FOR WEAK SYSTEMS

Great game for simmers but not for weak systems
This Game is not for those who are looking for a ýshoot-um-up bang bangý type of arcade game. This is not PS2 Ace Combat 4 or Lethal Skys this is a hard core military flight sim that can only be played on a PC because no game console can handle this game. That means that it will take a little time learning how to fly each individual plane, use the radar effectively, and deploy weapons. So for those of you criticizing how boring the game is because there is no action, its because you are looking for the wrong type of game. There is plenty of action in this game that true simmers enjoy. Tracking an enemy BVR and putting a missile on his @$$ before he even knows it, busting the snot out of ground convoys with the A-10, jinking missiles in the F-15 while you pull high Gýs to get your sights on that nuisance chasing your wingman, and much, much more!
Itýs true that you have to have the best of the top of the line systems to play this game in full detail. But playing it in low details is still a fantastic visual experience. I am currently playing on a laptop with a 1.4 Centrino, 14.1 inch SXGA screen with a resolution of 1400 x 1050, 728MB of ram and a 64MB ATi Radeon 9000, which is great for a laptop but only adequate for this game. I am currently building a desktop with a 2.6 HT P4, 1G of ram, 256MB Nvida 5200fx. I canýt wait till it is done. (Holidays and UPS delaying shipment of my parts)
So far my only complaints with game play is that my laptop system is not able to handle this game in all its strength. I have had an occasional lock-up during game play but after about 5 seconds the game resumed, but any lock-up is one to many. I am praying for a patch to come soon. The game takes a while to load and that is annoying when you get shot down and have to start a mission over. And trust me, you will get shot down in the beginning. I gave this game 4 stars because it should have come with a manual and a key card that maps out the keyboard commands. I have to go to the options menu to see what buttons do what. It would also have been nice of there was speech in the training exercises. Iým tired of reading each one over and over again. If I could read and hear it also the first time, I might have a better chance of remembering what to do, and I could do better in the missions. Also I wish that there were more American missions and planes to fly. Iým an American and I demand that!!! No offence to you Europeans out there but I donýt even want to play like Iým a European.
For those of you complaining that you canýt play the game on Windows ME or 98, ýwho in the world still uses Windows ME and 98 anyway???ý Get an updated Operating system. For those of you complaining that the game crashes, get a video card that supports DirectX9! Get a system that can handle the game or scale back the graphics so that your frame rate wonýt run like a picture show. And turn off all that stuff running in the background! And while Iým at it, those of you writing from parts of the world where English is your second language, learn proper English grammar before you write a review! We donýt know what you are saying!
Visually the game is great. The planes look as good as those in Microsoft Flight Sim 2004. The game can run smooth if you scale back the settings to match the power of your system. The developers should have made the cockpits interactive. Why canýt I just click on something like I can in Janeýs F/A-18. This game is supposed to be a step forward. This game does remind me of USAF. It is like the 2004 version of USAF, which is a good thing.
With all that being said, all future military flight sims will be judged by this game. Ever had that one girlfriend that you judge all others by? That is this game. It is special. It is already the greatest military flight sim to date. After a few patches it will become such a fantastic game that it will take it place in video game history next to pac-man. Go and get it if you are looking or a hard core flight sim and have the system to push it. Donýt buy this game for 12 year old Johnny, he is not mentally capable of appreciating something this real. Peace out, and watch your 6!

Potential to be a 5 star sim. Now a 3 star. This is due to the following:
1. The game was released with many bugs and even the inability to run on some systems. Win 98SE for one.
2. To run the sim at a reasonable frame rate with the graphics cranked up you need a very powerful system.
3. The interface and key commands are taxing....not the most user friendly.
4. It's really only for the hard core simmer but it doesn't always live up to "hard core".
It can become a 5 star sim if there is GOOD support and comprehensive patching. It has that potential.
This is mainly a graphic upgrade of Flanker 2.0 with additional aircraft to fly, but that's not bad because F2.0 was quite good.
I do wish they had taken us away from the Crimea....I'm getting real tired of flying over the same areas over and over.
I'm looking forward to both a good patch and additional aircraft
but for now it gets rather little play time....
A wonderful flight sim!

I have a P4 2.4 ghz machine with Windows XP, 1 GB of ram and a Radeon 9700 pro. I have the demo configured with most settings (terrain, scenery, shadows, etc.) on high while some are set to medium. I have been able to get smooth gameplay with 30 to 50 fps (frames per second), which is very decent considering that the demo that everyone here is talking about is several builds older than the full version. The flight models, physics, special effects, sounds...it's all superb. The level of detail in all aspects of the simulation is amazing. While the program is demanding, it is certainly not too much for most mainstream computers these days, and it is years ahead of anything else on the market now.
Should have stayed LOCKED IN

After waiting for a long time, reading reviews and screen shots, I thought this would have been "One of the all time best" for a flight sim...well, I will not mention my experience / problems since some of the "Real flight sim gamers" have put it very nicely...but I will add that this is NOT a Janes USAF four years later...
XP/2.8/128 video/512 ram.
Yes, patches might improve this game, but that remains to be seen.
Most of these reviewers have no foundation in flight sims

And I really think that most of them do well just to get Windows to run on their systems much less a flight sim. They dont have the foggiest idea of the complexity of a jet fighter flight sim and what it takes to accomplish that end. But they do know how to gripe if it requires effort on their part to setup on their computer and learn to fly. Don't listen to reviews issued by the Playstation Generation!
LockOn is to date the best flight sim to hit the market. NO, it isnt perfect but it only has one show stopper bug....it wont run on the antiguated operating system Win98. It does however, run very well on WinXP. And it was written to take advantage of the next generation of computer hardware and is scalable to todays hardware and even yesterdays hardware. But these clowns want to load it up on their system and crank all the settings to the top, so they can then come here and tell you that it's crap/buggy/broken and worthless when in fact...it's their review that fits in those categories.
LOMAC is worth the money.
LOMAC works if setup right on the right system and OS
LOMAC is a blast. Best eye candy ever. Almost photo realistic Check the screen shots....they dont do it justice but they are testamony to the fact.
LOMAC plays great online. Smoothest fight I have ever seen and I have flown flight sims online since that activity was possible.
LOMAC belongs on every mature flight simmers hardrive....and that's it PERIOD!!!
Yours truely, SPIKE out

Well, the game was just released. This is a 5 star Sim, but there are lots of bugs right now. On a very positive note, their web based support group is excellent. What is really cool is if you are not the type to have 4 weeks to get the sim 300 keys down, you can "dumb it up" a bit. still real tough, but plays a bit more arcade like for those in the Novalogic F-22 Lighnight 3 arcade gamer, but with far superior graphics and real avionics even when "dumbed up". Support these guys, they are very talented. Look for a patch shortly. When it comes out, this will rate 6 stars. It is for the die hard sim fan that has been waiting so long for a great sim, and an arcade type, that wants to push it a little more past the days of Novalogic F-16 MRF, Mig29, and F22 Arcade style. It will still be tough, but not nearly as bad as it could be. It is a step up. If you flew the Novalogic series, itn't it time to step up a bit? For value... as you get better, you can turn off some of the auto-mode and it is like a new game, without having to spend a dime more.
If you look at the support site right now, give it is BRAND new (like 1 week), there will be bugs in such complex software. Watch the site for the patch announcements then buy away. It will be a LOOONG time before anything this good comes again!
You need a LOADED PC to play it decently!

I tried the demo on my Athlon XP 2400+ / 512 DDR266/ 40GB 8MB Cache WD Caviar Special Edition/ 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9600 PRO with latest drivers and at medium graphics its hardly anything smooth, at high it's unplayable. I didn't really get to figure this game out it's really too complicated takes you lots of hours to understand how it works and since training has been scrubbed out of the demo there is no way you would actually know if you can get to play the game or not.
Graphics in the cockpit were great and detailed and so was the plane itself but ground models were medicore at best!
It's a mixed bag but again you need a really high end system to be able to play it at full graphics detail!
