OK to start this game is probably the best game you'll ever buy. The graphics are stunning. the game play is great too you get a choice of 3 stances including a nifty little wepon. this IS the best fighting game ever. It has a thing called the krypt where yyou will buy all the secrets and stuff. there is almost 300 coffins in there.....uuu.. ok there is 676 things to unlock but they like to f*%$ with you so a few of them are empty. the game is a good ad in to your collection

after 4 i thought mortal kombat was finished. This is a all out great fighting game with superb graphics. The only thing i had a problem with is NO LIU KANG. I mean he had been here since one. No liu kang in mortal kombat is like no justin timberlake in N'Sync. [The fatalities suck.] Scorpians flame from skull fatality is what made him. Other than that this is a great game to play.
Great fighting game!

This game beats Virtual Fighter 4 and Tekken by a WIDE MARGIN. It's everything those two games are not. Switching to different fighting styles, weapons, EXCELLENT graphics, LOTS of blood, interesting story lines and endings, and even a journey mode to learn more about your favorate character, and practice they're martial art forms. A definite keeper!!

If you love video games and martial arts then this is *the* game for you! Great storyline, interesting characters, great graphics, and a revolutionary combat system. This is a game no PS2 owner or Mortal Kombat fan should be without!
A good progression

I love Mortal Kombat games, I would have no problem with saying that they are my absolute favourite video games of all time. This is a great progression for the game, adding new dimensions to the game play. And of course, I can always rely on MK games to kick ass due to one character, Scorpion. In this game, Scorpion is even more badass (if that is possible) and makes this game extra awesomeness.
Not that thrilled

I love mortal kombat games, but this one just seemed week. There weren't that many players available. Deception has all of the players unlocked.

I'll try to omit what's already been written here. I played all of the older MK games and enjoyed them, but this game is flawed in the same old ways. It is a fun game, but just as before, once you get to a certain point in the game the only way to win is by doing 1 or 2 moves over and over and over. To MK buffs this may be acceptable. However, if you appreciate more realistic combat, check out some of the other titles such as Tekken or Virtua Fighter.
I was very disappointed by the counter-intuitive control. Its hard enough when you already need super-human reflexes to dodge attacks. You can't just learn the controls for one character and some special moves and then use the same knowledge to control another character. Combos can be very, very frustrating as well. Also, fatalities are more limited in game.
If you want to pick up MK for the first time, wait for "Mortal Kombat: Deception." If you have always loved the challanges of mastering MK, add this to your collection.

Mortal Kombat games have always been great, but this one is the best. The graphics are perfect, the gameplay is perfect, and everything else about it is perfect. It has many classic characters back and looking better than ever. The best part about the game is that there is so much to unlock. With many characters, arenas, and 3 fighting styles with each character, this is without a doubt the best fighting game for the PS2.
the best game ever now that kung lao and kitana are back!
