Fighting system, graphics, sounds, and Kontent are all great. Would have gotten a 5/5 if there were more than 1 fatality per character.
Wicked Game

From about 30 min of fooling around with the game, it seems pretty tight. Graphics are great. The biggest surprise for me was that one of my favorite characters was not on the game as a playable character, but was part of the storyline in the theatrical overview. Needless to say he got killed, so unless he gets raised from the dead, I better find a new hero. Anyway, this seems to be a good game with several ways to play. Good buy.
Yeah It's different..But still a good fighting game!

I've read all the reviews about this game being a disapointment My take on these reviews is that the only thing disapointing is the name on the box. Everyone has pre-conception of what Mortal Kombat "should" be. Just because it don't fit their standards it's a bad game. If it wasn't called "Mortal Kombat" it would get higher reviews. It's different but I like the changes..None of those cheap moves and combos. You actually have to fight and use some skill and strategy. For those of you that knocked it on difficulty. What are you playing if you don't want any challenge? If you are looking for a fun and challenging game this fits the bill pretty well!
...waiting for 5pm to roll around so i can go home and play

I just got this game and I can't put the controller down. If i could be playing at home right now instead of writing this review, i would be...
I really like the idea of having stances which some 'hard core' MK fans seem to hate. Playing with different stances is like playing with different characters. And when both weapons come out... whoa! can i just say, best sword fighting game ever?
The graphics are amazing. I don't think i have ever seen a fighting game look this good. Sorry it disappointed the elitists. I, for one, would rather see awesome 3-D graphics than 3-Frame per second movie cut-outs.
Whoever feels like they wasted their money, I would suggest revisiting the game with an open mind. Don't expect it to be like the old game. I loved the original MK's but I'm glad this is completely different.
Its true that cool fatalities would have been great. They probably should have taken them out all together instead of having 1 simple one per character.
The gore looks great, the arena's are good, the stances are the best idea in fighting games i've seen in a while.
Incidentally, I was deciding between Tekken 4 and MK:DA at the store. I went with this cause Tekken 4 is supposedly not much different from previous Tekkens. This is something new and is a must have.
Very cool game, different format.....

I've loved MK since its inception. This game continues the fine tradition of blood and gore of its forefathers. The one big difference is that in this version, you can't "learn as you go" as in the other games. There is a special "kombat" mode in which you work your way through several missions, each time perfecting the skills needed to be a great MK warrior while at the same time earning special tokens which can be later used in "The Krypt" (that's also a different section). This game requires that you sit and play through it for a couple of hours. Maybe when I have that much time on my hands, I'll actaully get to do it!

Well, i've been a fan of MK since MK1, and although I didn't find 3 was all that good, and thought 4 was horrible; I have to say 5 is really so much of an improvement. Just the extras on the game alone are great.
Let me explain, if your a regular fan of the series i.e. you've played an enjoyed at least 2 or more of the games, you'll love it. Just to start, the gameplay and fighting are much the same (except new combos). Each character has 2 different fighting styles and 1 weapon styles (3 total). Its really fun to play with them all just to see you slice open someone with a sword or skewer them with a spear. And of course, there are the gory fatalities.
It can be fustrating to try the combos as they have different speeds at which you have to type to the buttons. Besides the arcade and verus modes, theres a 'konquest' mode, where you learn the basic combo's and moves for whichever player you select. Through all the above game modes you earn 'Koins'...this is where all the extras come in, theres something like 670+ extras you buy with the 'koins' weather its story boards, comics, info, movies, characters, or extra costumes (or 'kostumes'). Its a lot of fun just to look at all the neat stuff you can get.
Of course for someone who wasn't a fan of the games, they would find most of the stuff you buy kind of boring and useless (hence the four out of five)
In conclusion, If you love the series get the game, its a lot of fun, or if you just want to beat up someone its fun as well. Course if your really not sure, just rent it first. Enjoy.

This game is awesome!!! In it, there are a large variety of characters to choose from, each with their own unique fighting styles. If you like playing against your friends, all you have to do is plug in the controlers and choose your characters! What I like most about this game is that you can go at your own pace, and it also gives you plenty of opportunities to learn how to master each character. The game drives you on by offering you koins if you win or complete a mission. With these koins, you can buy new characters and alternate costumes. Something that really makes me mad, though, is that there is a huge krypt, containing 676 coffins, each with their own price on them. You have no idea what are inside each of them (some contain characters, some contain costumes, and some contain completely stupid things), so you never know what you're buying. All you need is a little luck.
