Snowboarding, skateboarding, basketball, and colorful cartoons you will not find. I am amazed that the ESRB was able to apply an M rating to this game. Rockstar North has outdone itself again.
You play Cash, a convict who was supposed to have died on the execution table, but is given a second chance at life. Although, your second life may come up short as someone has organized a massive manhunt with a number of gangs who are going all out to take you down.
By the skillful use of shadow, the ability to control sound, and the utilization of a limited number of weapons and items, you make your way through the streets and buildings just to please the narrator that made all of this possible. But somewhere along the way, you get tired of being the puppet, and begin a manhunt of your own.
The game itself had a very nice balance of graphics, sounds, and ease-of-play. If you're familiar with Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City, the interface will seem very familar to you. For a newbie, it doesn't take long to learn. The first few scenes have a few tutorials to help you get used to what you can do.
If you want multi-player, don't bother, Rockstar didn't do any. No online play. Like GTA, they concentrated on a main storyline that filled the gaps that most games using multi-player options have (XIII comes to mind.) If you're fortunate enough to have the Logitech headset, the game will recognize it. With it, you hear the narrator talk directly to you while at the same time you can use it to throw your voice around corners to attract the enemies. A nice addition.
My only displeasure with the game are the long distance between waypoints. But, I'm too used to the game saving ability on a PC with games like Half-Life and Quake. If anything, it'll force you to learn about what's ahead and prepare for it.
In the end, I was satisfied when I got to the end and am hoping that there may be a second Manhunt in the near future.

I'm not gonna write a big review because this game is in the past now but where is Manhunt 2?
People complain the game play is repetitive. What game is there where the game play throughout the game is always different? People say that all you do is hide. Yeah, in real life if you're in a situation where there's 1 of you and 100 of them who want to kill you, you're gonna hide also. That's if you even still wanna live after that.
They give you different weapons to sneak up and kill guys. Bats, crowbars, nail guns, glass shards, hooks, wire, and eventually shotguns. There's parts where you lure guys into the shadows and you're aiming a gun to their head. Towards the end it turns more into typical shoot outs but the game is still good enough and you have to kill that man pig. Maybe the game didn't sell well enough for a sequel, that's too bad.
very gruesome, but very fun

just start out, to warn all people under 17, or even over 17, if you have a weak stomach, then do NOT PLAY THIS GAME.
story
you are james earl cash. one tough mother f**ker. you have been scentenced to death and injected with a fatal shot thing. strangely, you wake up, hearing a mysterious voice talking to you. the "director," starkworth, has saved you from this death penalty and thrown you into life and death situations. starkworth sets up gangs and "hunters" that are killers hired to kill you for starkworths sick amusement. he is supposed to be making a movie of you killing people but he really wants you dead. as the story unfolds, you find out this ass h*le really wants you murdered. you decide to chase down starkworth for revenge. he sends out cops to come and kill you. wich feels wrong to kill them, but its soooo much fun.
gameplay
very fun and addictive. also increasinlgy chalenging. what makes this game fun is, the hunters after often cuss a blue streak which always makes me crack up. plus, you get to literally, smack the sh*t out of people. on a third note, its also very, VERY, gory. one time, my mom walked in on me playing it and she saw me wacking a guys head off with a metal bat and she yelled " holy sh*t! if grandma saw this she'd have a heart-attack!" the only bad thing is the hunters are THE biggest dumb-asses, though i have seen worse in other games, some of these guys are just plain stupid. if your in shadow and they're inches away from you, they won't even notice your there. inthe begining of the game, your first actual weapon is a plastic bag. well i didn't know how the execute a guy 'cuz i just skipped all of the instrutions. i just ran up to him and tried to smack him around with a f**kin'plastc bag! and the hunter eventually died. but after i went to sleep that night, i didn;t have nightmares, i thought tommorows saturday, i can't wait to kill some more of those dumb f*cks tomorow!
Heads will roll, literally!

I asked my parents to get me this for Christmas and they did. But they were starting to doubt it after hearing it getting banned in New Zealand, which I feel is weird since director Peter Jackson films his movies there like Dead Alive and Meet the Feebles but whatever. They told me after I opened it. They said that they heard the whole game is just killing. It is. You hide in the shadows and kill quite gruesomely. I love this game. It has an awesome plot, graphics, weapons, replayability, and gore. Everytime I play, I jump when someone spots me, my heart just suddenly starts racing. I'm more of an open, not stealthy, guy, but I beat this, after playing 6-7 hours a day, sleeping for about 4 hours, getting up at 5, playing for an hour, and then going to school. I played it for 10 hours straight one day on a Saturday. My mom watched me splatter a dudes brains with a baseball bat once and she turned pale as a ghost. I don't see why it's so bad. You hear of people being hacked to pieces, shot, and even worse in the news, Manhunt shouldn't bring anything new to the table. It's just the Running Man meets Friday the 13th. Good "clean" fun had by all. I give it 5 severed heads. Enjoy!
Sick, but Legendary

With the Grand Theft Auto series under your name, one would assume that Rockstar could not make a more violent or disturbing game then the before mentioned classic. I stand corrected. Manhunt is the ultimate experience in carnage and gore, from the first plastic bag you choke your victim with, till the final crushing blow delievered with a chainsaw blade. The game mixes stealth slayings and old west shootouts, scattered over 20 levels, with six or seven different types of gangs/persons to kill. While some may argue the game does get repetitive after awhile, the action in the game is nonstop, and has a wide variety of weapons and scenarios to accompany them. Manhunt is a must have for any Rockstar fan. In the style of the GTA and Max Payne series, this superb video gaming company just keeps getting better.
Violent, crazy killing, gore... Wiked!

ok first of all your kid is not going to grow up into a physdco if he plays this game! but still dont let a 7-year old play it!
I dont what to say but heres the breakdown :
Good
. Main character looks like Jason!
. Gore! More than 60 ways to kill someone!
. Your being hunted, not hunting (nice change)
. Stealth with REAL stealth assualts ( How annoying was it in MGS2 to never be able to do what you want to those annoying people! In this you can torture them!
. Anything is a weapon, glass shards etc etc
. Interesting story!
. Good ending
. Nice length
. Pure fun
. Its like plaing a murderer in a film!
. Most violent game made!
Bad
. Not sure about replayablilty
. Graphics could have been better (would have made everything so much better to do)
. Needs more light
Verdict: If you like Tenchu games, you''ll love this!
Worth buying!

People might say your sick for enjoying this game but its the most fun game i've played in a long time. i've read reviews that hideing in the shodows and waiting for the hunters to come to you gets old after a while well u don't have to worry about that the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the entire game! Deffinatly a must have for any survival-horror fan.
