Nice game, but....................

Looking for a war game that has realism, most of the current weapons of todays army, and vehicles (including helicoptors) that you can ride? This game has it all!! BUT, you'll find yourself respawning countless times in fustrating, after fustrating attempts to get on the battlefield with those weapons and rides. Soon after getting the hang of things you'll find lag and more experienced players kniving and shooting you back to respawn time and time again. I've played far cry and countless other war games and this one is for the very very very patient. Team play, yes, this game has that too However, no one actually uses the controls to "team play" and you end up one for all and all for one throwing as much firepower, grenades, and missles as you can just to stay alive for 2 seconds.

If you don't mind respawning 100 times a match, enjoy semi-teamplay (I use the term very loosely), and firing up to date weapons, then this game is for you.

Joint Operations is AWESOME

I would definetly recommend this game to ANYONE who likes online first person shooters. I have spent hours upon hours playing and the funny thing is that this aint a joke. Literally hours. (7 hours to be exact)

The day nite cycle is really interesting, all the weapons in my opinion are balanced and it is just so much fun. I definetly give this game a 2 thumbs up.

This game although graphics may not be intense as FC or BFV, the gameplay blows the said above away. FC online play is a joke, it's like fighting comic book characters, pfff. BVF is a waste, the gameplay blows. You peeps who have probs running it, get a better video card. I've read your specs and your cards blow. FC is a joke for online play, and BFV is a total loss of time. JO rocks and those that I've seen write a bad review are prob the one's I'm spanking everytime I play..HaHa..!! Buy this game if enjoy kick butt online play...

Beta review...

I played the beta for this game and have a few things to report...

First off, I am as excited as the next guy to receive the next generation in the Battlefield 1942 genre. Unfortunately, the beta did not meet my expectations.

The graphics are on par with BF mods like Desert Combat (which you can download free at their website of same name); there are slight improvements to graphical elements like water and particle effects, but nothing that would wow you (like Far Cry).

The real standout feature for me was the way the game moved away from roaming the map for control of points (or as in BF, "tickets") and towards a more linear model. Everyone fights for the same spawn point. This makes for interesting and very intense battles with essentially all the hardware and personel focused on one point.

As I understand it, the publisher will go to market with slightly better graphics, which is of course a good thing; but in light of Doom 3's impending release, and the availability of free mods like Desert Combat, I'm afraid they might need to do more than that to get a leg over this market.

Better have th right graphics card

I bought this and Battle Field Vitnam because I own every other shooter ever made and I was really looking forward to trying them both out. I bought a P4-3000, put 1 gig of 3200 ram in it and upgraded from the stock GForce 128 to the 256MB 5500 card. It plays so slow, you would think I had a P-133Mhz. I have changed all the resolutions and setting etc, and btoh are still choppy. This is my first GForce card, I have used my Radeon 9700 for 2 years now and loved it. My old card outplays these two different GForce card when trying these games. If you buy them, make sure you have a Radeon, and a good one at that. As for the game play, its choppy, the maps are so big they lag a lot, (even with a 3MB solid connection via cable modem), becuase the maps are so large. There is no campaign to speak of, I miss that from my other shooters. I will say I am impressed by the array of available weapons and vehicles, each side gets thier own set of toys. It would recommded Typhoon over BFV for sure. But have very very muddy graphics with no real color, all darks browns and greens. Far Cry looks so much better than these two visualy. But the combat is bettter. Again, get a good card or it will not be fun. I just did a year in Iraq, I know what combat is, and Typhoon is fun stuff.

damn good

ok, amazing game, buy it...simple as that...oh wait! its 70 bucks on amazon...so buy it somewhere else..the game is huge. it ranges from one on one to mass killing flying vehicles. the level design is great, and the sounds effects...Amasing! try the demo if your not convinced.one secong you'll be picking ppl off at a distance with your iron sight, and the nest you'll be unloading a .50 cal onto the other teams spawn...and the next your dodging stinger rockets in your helicopter. Graphics are nice...and having 100 ppl on a server is fun. unfortunatly ppl who serve it don't have fast enough computers for 100 player...so large serves tend to lag up a bit. its worthe the 50 bucks canadian...most places is 50 bucks...so buy it

I swear, Novalogic has hired a slew of undercover marketers to spam sites with "this game is great" nonsense. I have played for about twenty hours, and no matter how much better I get at this game, I still find it incredibly boring and limited. A handful of vehicles and a major lack of terrain diversity don't help the slow gameplay which consists of running here and there, then hoping lying in the tall grass will hide you from your enemues. It rarely does, but you won't be able to see anything past the tall grass you're lying in, so the enemy can see and kill you with no problem. Then you have to wait around to be healed or you can respawn, then trek all the way back to the front. Almost the entire time is spent waitng, hiding, traveling in this game. There are many other problems in this game, too many to mention here.

Poor effort by Novalogic

Joint operations: typhoon rising is what happens when you rush to put out a game in order to compete with other WW2 FPS shooters. Novalogic claimed this was the game to beat Battlefield 1942 - WRONG!! The graphics are blocky, the gameplay is choppy even with video settings at LOW RESOLUTION, enemy A.I. is average at best and almost all the time you get killed, u never see where its coming from. The game's original score pales in comparison to the music from BF1942 and the multiplayer they promised to be as smooth as silk on a 56K modem is utter garbage. There are numerous patches available for download, but you never notice the difference. I play on a P4 2.8ghz with HT Technology
Nvidia 128 MB Geforce FX 5200 Ultra
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
256MB ram
850 mhz front side bus

These are more than the required hardware for smooth play, yet the game is a complete mess. I play Battlefield 1942 on the same machine and the graphics are great, the music is fantastic, and the expansion packs: Road to Rome & Secret Weapons of WW2) are a great addition. Please do not purchase this,...even when it gets to bargain bin. Novalogic failed with this one.

This demo is really cool a world better than the beta test demo. I'm not going to say it's better that BFV or 1942, but I've heard it said a lot already. The demo is really smooth and Amazon is the cheapest place to get it. Just my 2 cents.

A Very Pleasant Surprise

I also played the Beta version of the game. The game was pretty innovative in its aspects. Graphics were pretty cool and realistic. The roving map was an interesting idea that was done right when such an idea could kill the game. The team game concept was done very well and this is coming from a guy who is usually the lone wolf when I usually play these types of games. The thought of aligning yourself with over 100 people online with one mission in mind will catch ANYONE'S attention. The feel of the game is very real and I got all this from the BETA version of the game. That means it can only get better from there. This is a must buy and a can't miss!
