BETTER THEN BATTLIEFIELD 1942.

This game is way better then Battlefield 1942!!!! The waiting for the level to load is still here in this game but almost no lag on most levels. I play on a server with about 50 people and its not laggy at all. You can have up to or over 64 people on one server. You can be one of 5 classes. (Rifleman, gunner, engineer, sniper, or medic) There are 4 multiplayer types which are all awesome. (Cooperative Games, Advance and Secure, Team Deatmatch, or Team King of the Hill) There are plenty of weapons available for your use. You can pick different hand weapons such as pistols, machetes, and knives, submachine guns, machine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, specialty weapons such as mortars, singers, rocket launchers, RPG, and target designators. You can use the M16, M4, M60, shotgun, M24, M82 Barret, AK47, AK74, . You can use explosives such as satchel charges, claymore, flash grenades, frag grenades, and smoke grenades. You can use fixed weapons such as a M2.50 machine gun, or a MK19 40MM grenade launcher. There are lot's of vehicles you can use in this game. You can use a Ton Truck, Amphibious ATV, Zodiac, Armored Attack Vehicle, Little Bird, Blackhawk, Chinook, jeep, Halo, Patrol Boat and more. ALL that above was just a list of what makes this game fun and awesome. You will really enjoy this game if your a fan of any online war games. GO BUY IT NOW.

This game is very addicting once you get started. The graphics on this game are great. You can drive a variety of helicopters and boats. If you liked this game you should also consider buying th expansion pack ( Joint Operations :Escalation). Overall this is a great game!!!

This game has every bit of excitment you're looking for in an online multiplayer FPS game. Weapons are great to choose from, vehicles are fun to operation. And the heat of battle is intense.

Some weapons don't seem to be powered correctly though. One shot kill from a sniper is too easy. It seems to take about a billion cannon shots to bring down a helicopter. Other than that, the game's weapons are great!

One improvement I'd like to see is a server limit to the number of a single player type that will be allowed in any game. Playing a game with 80% snipers is no fun.

But, even with these limits, it definately gets two thumbs up!

One of the best FPS ever created

Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is an excellent sequel to Nova Logic's Delta Force series. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there are no single-player scenarios, just a few training exercises to get the player familiar with the weapons and vehicles, and the graphics are a few years out of date. This game was intended to be played on-line, either via LAN or the Internet. However, unlike so many other on-line games these days, there are no monthly fees.

The best part of the game, in my opinion, is the open-ended maps. I despise Doom-like games that make you run through a maze of corridors like a blind mouse looking for cheese. They don't allow for player creativity like Nova Logic games, which is half the fun. As with all the prior Nova Logic Delta Force games, the maps have no borders. If you want to drive, fly, or run miles out of your way, you can. The terrain simply repeats every 512 meters.

The game includes about 8 different Co-Operative scenarios, where players work as a team to accomplish several objectives. The AI for the enemy on the Co-Op maps is mediocre. The enemy isn't very bright, as they have a tendency to run towards you when you shoot at them instead of seeking cover. There are also Team Death Match scenarios that pit one human team against another human team. There is also Team King of the Hill scenarios where the team that stays in the scoring zone the longest, wins. Finally, there are Advance and Secure scenarios where two opposing teams hold various positions while advancing against the enemy to take their positions away.

The players can chose various weapon and equipment load-outs at the beginning of each scenario, and change those load-outs during the scenario and any Armory. These includes: Riflemen, Engineers, Heavy Gunners, Snipers, and Medics. A typical Riflemen might be equipped with an M4/203 (which includes a 2x scope) with 300 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and six 40mm grenades, three flash-bang grenades, three smoke grenades, three fragmentation grenades, an M1911 side-arm, two satchel charges, and of course a knife. There are a dozen different weapon types from the M82 0.50 caliber sniper rifle, to the AT-4 (anti-tank missile launcher).

Joint Operations will allow up to 64 players to join on-line, which makes for an action packed game and provides a target rich environment. The Co-Op scenarios Nova Logic provides are well thought out and balanced to make each one challenging, but not to the point of frustration. The keyboard and mouse controls are intuitive and easy to use, and can be changed to suit your playing style. The graphics are very good and you don't need a super-charged PC to run the game in any resolution.

There is also a third-party map editor and scenario builder that allow you to create your own maps and play them on-line. This is something I always look for in a game because it extends the playable life of the game. The game also does not require the CD to be in the PC in order to play the game, which I consider to be another nice feature.

I've been playing this game for several years and expect to playing this game for several more years, it is that good.

This is an excelent game. Many old school CS fans willl like the awesoem team work and the Halo style vehicles will be a crowd pleaser. Basically its a mix of all the good things from the best video games of this era. Combined with up to 100 players online fighting, I can safely say "Game of the YEAR"

Only for broadband, but older computers OK

This game is great fun. It's a blast to drive all kinds of vehicles into battle. Unfortunately they've backed off a little on that regard. Lots of the maps don't include armed helicopters or APC's. The rocket chopper is especially rare. This is an understandable move in the quest for better game-balancing, but definitely a loss.

Snipers tend to rule the game. Stay out of the crowded servers (depends on the map's size, but typically less than 60-70 players is best). Otherwise, you spawn, run to the action, then promptly get shot by one of 20 or 30 snipers. This becomes tiring very quickly. Teamplay is pretty important to being succesfull in this game.

Hopefully the newly released beta map-making tool will bring some more vehicle-heavy maps to the game.

Greedy Novalogic - LAN users beware

I have a LAN in my home, and I bought this game looking forward to playing it with my wife. I was pleased to find out that the CD did not need to be in the drive to play the game. But, after installing it on both computers, I could not connect them via the LAN. Turns out you need as many copies of the game as you have computers. This is verified via the CD-key you use to activate the game. To me, this is cheap on the part of Novalogic. Why shouldn't I be allowed to play the game I purchased on my own LAN with my own wife?

GREAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is game with a ton of potential. I played the beta and demo before I purchased it. (The beta ran much better than either the demo or retail version) Unfortunately it has 1 major flaw, Frames Per Second. On servers larger that 64 player, the game will often fall into the single digits for FPS. This makes the game competely unplayable. This is NOT tied to any hardware specs on my PC. I have done a fair amount of research on this and come to the conclusion that it has to do with the changes in netcode that were implemented for the retail version. I suggest you go out to the Nova logic forums and check the sticky notes on FPS issues. There are hundreds of posts all saying the same thing. FPS sucks on larger servers and when there is significant fighting going on. The most frustrating thing of all is Nova has yet to respond to any of these posts.

Once Novalogic addresses this issue it will be an awesome game. Until then I'd wait until there is a fix.

Go, Go, Go!

As head of a clan founded sheerly for JO, I should give it an astounding review. However, there are minor glitches in game. 1 is that even if you meet the system specs u may not be able to run the game.

Another is the vehicles. The jeeps are too weak, and the APCs are too powerful. The Helos are ok, but they blow up if u hit a tree, where as they should slice the tops off the trees.

Also, no tunnels? :( They were a standing point for DF:LW and TFD.

However, having said that, many people are wrong, you can assault a base on your own or in teams of 2 with only 2 conditions. Either:

THE BASE IS DESERTED
or
YOUR TEAM HAS SMASHED INTO THE ENEMY FLANK AND DRAWN THEM AWAY.......

:P
