This is by far the worst Harry Potter game put out so far. The camera angles are a pain since you can't change them, the controls while flying are a pain if you are used to reversing them and are not given that option, and this game has taken all the magic out of the experience. As a true Harry Potter fan, the best thing about the games was being able to explore Hogwarts. This game feels like a hit hit hit the button game which is unsatisfying and boring. Hope that EA games goes back to the previous format if they put a game out for the 5th movie!

Where to begin, oh yeah, this game rocks and I do not know why people are rating it so low!!! This game is rated e 10, EEEEEEEE-1000! How many adults or kids 10 or older would want to be solving puzzles and all other sorts of childish things! IF YOU ONLY WANTED TO TEST THE GAME, THEN GUESS WHAT! YOU SHOULD OF RENTED IT! I AM A 13 YEAR OLD GAMER AND I AM GLAD EA made the game have levels instead of CHILDISH stuff to do!!
I hope this game is good!!!

I am planning to get this game for x-mas.But,I hear a lot of people say that their is no roaming around!!But still I don't care, the graphics and enviroments look cool. The only thing I like about Harry Potter games are the adventures, spell casting, and characters. Most people write bad reviews about this game, such as the lamest reasons about no roaming around and the camera, I mean their is no such thing as a perfect game!! The only main thing I look in a game are fun adventures, not little complaints such as the camera and no roaming around!

EA completely revised and changed a good thing. I am so frustrated with this game, if you dont get so many triwizard shields you cant unlock any more areas of the game. With HP 2&3 i couldn't stop playing, with this one, i dont even want to. Its such a disappointment that EA ruined a good ting. There is no exploring Hogwarts and finding secret passages, finding treasure, its just not what i expected at all.
EA you got lazy on this one....

Since Chamber of Secrets everything has gone down the tubes in this book-to-movie-to-game world.
There's nothing else to say, besides actually implementing the long-needed multiplayer, EA just got lazy with this game. I should have known they'd gone the lazy way when instead of a digital Harry, they just slapped Dan Radcliffe as Harry on the cover and unlike others I think getting closer to the movies is a BIG mistake for the game series. And they slap movie pictures all over this game (on the cards for example). And that isn't so bad, the games do exsist via the movies (not the books) or we'd be preparing for game 7 right now. Even still, the meat you really need for a good game is found in adapting from the books not the movies.
1st note to EA, in the next game BRING BACK THE ABLITY TO ROAM AROUND HOGWARTS. Without teachers and classes, you really aren't getting a Harry Potter at Hogwarts experience. And come on, your took away QUIDDITCH in PoA!! Did you have to take it away from Goblet too. There's a perfectly good Quidditch game at the beginning of the book that would have made good use of a digital Viktor. Hell, it would have made a nice little bonus side-game at the least.
2nd Note EA: Keep the multiplayer of GoF, the special ablities that were unique to the characters in PoA, and the castle & grounds roaming Legend of Zelda style of the previous games.
Final note for EA - forget the movies and read the books - it will give you LOADS more material to load into the game. Nothing against the movies, but the good thing about the game is it doesn't have movie-length restrictions. And I know people brag about the graphics in this game, and they are good, but one thing that is not good (and I'll actually say it again) is trying to look like the movie. Let the game be it's own creature. I actually found Harry and the gang more unique in the PoA game. There was a movie similarity without being the movie's slave. Steal some of the meat from the book and meat up these HP games instead of scaling them down. The movies have no choice, but the games DO.
a good HP game

its a great game this one is. i have to admit, that i liked the others better, but they did a pretty good job with it. its fun, you use a lot of magic, but, its also probably the hardest HP game. i liked the other ones a lot because they allow you to run around the school aimlessly if you wanted.
one of the WORST parts about this game, is that ron will not SHUT UP! he is always winning about everything...
"Its so cold harry!", "im tired!", "Look! a bertie bott's every flavor bean! Wow!". it just goes on and on...
anyway, if you ignore all that :), its a pretty fun game. but i would definitely suggest the third game over this one.
ehhh....

I kinda liked the early HP games, despite the bad graphics and the collecting madness. There was so much charm to be found in exploring Hogwarts. I agree with other reviewers that attending classes was one of the best parts.
This most recent HP game is all action. So boring! I am not a big fan of elaborate toolbars or RPG-esque equipping of characters. I am not a big fan of endlessly killing/destroying things to progress in the game. Thus, this game was a disappointment. I never finished it.
Graphics were nice, though.
It's ok

This is not my favorite of the Harry Potter games. It's so action oriented that it actually is very hard. It's great for people who like all action games, but I really feel it loses much of the story by being all action. And I miss tending classes. Part of the fun of the previous games was being able to go to school at Hogwarts and learning the magic. At least it was for me. I finished it, but I won't play it again.

one question for EA: why the sudden and drastic change from previous harry potter games to this one?
ok, to start off, im a harry potter obsessed freak that loves everything about it- the books, the movies, and the games. but even though the other games were better than this one doesnt make this as bad of a game as everyone is saying it is. i think it is my love of all things harry potter that lets me find the good in this game. it is fun, but like everyone else has said, it doesnt have the roaming around Hogwarts that about everybody liked. after beating previous games, i enjoyed roaming around the seemingly endless hogwarts, examining every nook and cranny to find the cards and beans. but now, they give you a menu and you select the level you enter. although you can go back into previous levels, they get old after a couple visits into them, and there are only 4 levels to find shields in (which you need to progress to the next levels and tasks) the levels are Hogwarts Exterior, Forbidden Forest, Prefect's Bathroom, and Herbology. dont get excited over hogwarts exterior though, you never touch the ground- you walk around outside hogwarts on the walkways (like stories above the ground) and you cant get down to the ground.also, you MUST have read the book or at least seen the movie or you will be completely lost because they tell you nothing of the plot or storyline- at all. anyway, here are the pros and cons:
Pros
-Same harry potter fun
-some new fun (for me at least- i liked levitating the larger stuff and rocks and throwing them- i mean, come on, how many other games let you use a stick to levitate a big pot of bubbling pus and throw it at fountains and walls and bust them apart?)
- MULTIPLAYER! one of the best new additions of the games- you can now have 1 to 3 people all playing at the same time (one plays Harry, ones Hermione, and the other person is Ron (if you have 3 people)) this is a lot of fun
-i dont know why people are complaining about the camera- so you cant control it? it gives you a view of everything around you so who cares? the camera is similar to Gauntlet.
-good graphics
-new spells
-harry, ron, and hermione are grown up more and look more like the actors that portray them in the harry potter films.
-its harry potter!
Cons
-no roaming
-little replay value unless youre a die-hard fan of everything harry potter like me
-very overpriced (RENT IT FIRST! you might end up hating it like everybody else. and if you like it a lot, wait about 6 months to a year, and i bet it will be down to $20 which is more reasonable than $35)
-the final duel with voldemort was way too easy and not at all like it happened in the book or movie. (in this, he sends Inferi after you (skeletons) and the tombstone of his father to smash you and you destroy the skeletons and tombstone by guiding the magical power thingy (where your spells combined)to destroy them)
when i was thinking about this game before it came out, i wondered how they were going to make the tasks. they turned out good, but were very easy. also, the maze (3rd task) was like in the movie, where you encountered no magical dangerous creatures- only the maze that tried to like eat you and smush you between its hedges and the vines that chased you on the ground. that was the stupid part in the movie- if you read the book.
anyway, overall i took off one star because there is no roaming and little replay. i would have taken off another for the price, but that will change. my advice- rent first, then buy.
