This game was a BIG disappointment. You have limited views and can't change spells except at the start of a level. Harry and the gang also walk around on thier own which means they are constantly getting 'hurt'. You collect beans, but for the most part really can't buy anything, and you can't trade anything. In fact you don't see Hogwarts, Profs or students for that matter. What's the fun in taking those things out. Flying and swiming is a joke. You basicly go up and down and that's it. You can't explore much less go out of a tunnel like zone. That's what was so fun about the first and thrid Harry Potter Game, were you could explore and acually view little areas. The first three games were also long playing and had problem solving, they were not all button hitting like Goblet of Fire. I got this for Christmas and was looking forward to a long fun game -- instead I got a lump of cole! Gave it a one just for the improved graphics.
Slightly addictive

The graphics are much better in this game. That I think everyone appreciated. Also, the loading screens are much more pleasant to look at. A swirling pool of blue lights. It's really quite pretty.
The game is not really that difficult, although some of the tasks are a little daunting. I have finished the game without completing some of the various tasks in it. I have completed none of moody's challenges-I felt no need. And I found the dragon in a cage in the forbiddin forest, and did not feel like getting to the shield it guarded.
You can pick and choose your battles, skip what you do not wish to take on, and go back and get things you probably should have.
Granted, this won't be a game I will be playing much in a month, but it was definately worth the money I spent on it. :)

It was okay, i got this game for christmas after begging for it for like a month. then i got home (i was on vaction) and I started playing it right away. it was more advanced than the 2nd, and thats good, but I wasnt fond of the layout. Like you got there and there was the cup and you chose a challenge. I liked the 2nd because they didnt have this. In the second you wandered around hogwarts, did some cool challanges, class challenges, spell challenges, etc, and like once you were done you collected beans, fly, buy stuff, etc, and save the game whenever you feel like whereever. the 4th you cant save the game whenever and where ever, you cant just wonder around, you almost never go into hogwarts, you dont buy stuff, you collect beans to get cards in which help your stanima, etc. i mean the games fun, like the dragon rocks, but i like the 1st two better
Changed style - Not better

If you liked the other Harry Potter games this one will disappoint you. It is not a free-roaming game. You do not get to go to Hogwarts and enter classrooms and grounds and search for anything. You have very little control over what spells you cast and they have introduced a confusing and time consuming card system that does not improve the game. You don't get to fly around on your broom or look for secrets or items. The camera is useless. I don't know why they changed the game so much when the others were so much fun.Very disappointed.

What happened to the fun, fast action Harry Potter games??? GOF seems 2 have just dropped below all 3 other games totaly. There's no Hogwarts, no teachers, no students, no exploring, you can't switch the characters, no spells!!!! WHAT HAPPENED???
Swimming and flying is awful, all you do is basically go up and down, and stick to a path. Do the characters talk? yes, but only when they're fighting. To be honest I nearly cried when i got this game for my birthday, so be warned.

Many people say that this game is a waste of time, and I really wonder why. I personally enjoy the games style of play... you must select an available level and you unlock new levels by collecting Tri-Wizard shields. There are missions to fulfill in each level and you can revisit them for multiple missions. The camera angles are fixed, but this has posed no problem for me. This game is relatively simple to play, but can cater to the collecter types, too. It's rather a step off the beaten path for the Potter series, but I say a job well done!
Worse than Prisoner of Azkaban

I still believe the 2nd Harry Potter Game < role plays > is best and although there are many pros and cons to this 4th game the cons outweigh the pros by a many.
For those of you who have played the first 3 Harry Potter Role Games be prepared for some major changes to how this game is built up. Now unlike the first 3 games where one had to follow a story line and was not able to return to a certain point within the story this game is set up into several " levels " to which one can return in order to receive more tri- wizard shields which one is required to collect in order to unlock all levels. In a way it's nice to be able to return to certain points in the story but at the same time it takes away from the game. I used to enjoy the story line and little "movies" that came along with that.
Like in the 3rd game one can play with Ron, Hermione or Harry which is nice but once you choose the character and enter a level you cannot switch characters until you leave the level again. It easier to collect beans now because killing enemy bugs now gives one plenty of beans as do certain fixed containers < boxes and pots >. Unlike in the other games however one doesn't need to look for wizard cards anymore instead after completing certain levels the cards are unlocked and then one is able to purchase them with the collected beans. The cards can give each character strength, depending on how one uses the cards one can up their stamina, accio spell or jinx spells or even have themselves give more protection against certain creatures. The cards themselves show stills from the movie which I thought were nice. Now while equipping the cards can be a hassle in the beginning it gets easier once one gets used to it. There is no explanation on how to equip the cards in the games booklet < well there is but not much really > so one has to figure out him/ herself how to equip cards and see which suits best. My recommendation is to equip stamina and jinx cards to kill enemies faster.
Something else that is odd is when a character dies they magically replenish their energy. In a way its nice that way one doesn't have to start from the beginning of the level at the same time it makes the game too easy to play until you reach the level for the maze where you only play with Harry.
Now something I did really like was the fact that I didn't have to switch between spells like in the old games you always had to pause in order to equip a new spell. Now the spells switch automatically depending which task one has at hand and which of the odd creatures' one has to kill. I do miss looking for spells though, while in the other games you had to look for each spell < book > in order to gain that spell you already have most spells in this game. One only needs to find 3 spell- books in this game which in a way makes it less fun.
Something else I liked about the spells is that the characters now do combined spells in order to lift heaver objects for example.
While the graphics have gotten better there is very, very I mean really very little camera control which can tick a person off since you can't really look around and see where things are nor can you move the camera close to a character to look what is in front of that character. Also one cannot walk around on the grounds. It is sad as I enjoyed looking at the grounds flying around searching for items. AND the only time one gets to fly is at the 1st triwizard challenge like in the movie Harry has to get away from a dragon. Try not to die too many times since it is a timed event. The less time one uses the more likely one gets the "gold medal" and plenty of beans and tri wizards shields. The 2nd Task was a joke really. I finished the 2nd task in less than 8 minutes and got gold right away. The 3rd task which is the maze can frustrate you when you don't know which way to go. And unlike with the other tasks when you die you have to start from a certain section over again. I almost threw the controller trying to kill them blast ended screwets < not sure about the spelling >.
There are plenty of other things I missed in this game. For example a quidditch match. I know there aren't any at school in the book and movie but they could have integrated at least 1 or 2 matches for the world cup with 3 to 4 teams. The mini- games in Moody's challenge are too easy and get boring after a while. Also there is NO EYETOY mini games like there was in the 3rd game which is costing this game some major points.
And no Secret Wizard shop like in game 2 and 3 which would have been so much fun and at least worth collecting beans for.
All in all I was disappointed that this game was worse than Prisoner of Azkaban and Chamber of secrets, and it was TOO EASY. I know I keep repeating that but it really was as for the fact that it only took me 8 hours < divided over 3 days > to finish this game. Like many others I would suggest to rent this game first before buying it
Look no farther this game is "Brilliant"-Ron Weasely

First of all, I want to congradulate EA for putting multiplayer on this game and the lovely graphics. Also,it is true that you can't roam around Hogwarts. Besides,I did not see that sort of stuff in the movie, including the book.In addition, to me if you play multi- player, and roam around Hogwarts it will be pretty boring. Well any way, I also loved the adventures and enviroments too.
P.S: IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET THIS GAME, DO NOT LET BAD REVIEWS DISCOURAGE YOU!!
A little bit fun, but also stressful

This is the first Harry Potter game I have played. Casting spells and figuring out puzzles was fun, but playing this game became very stressful. Whenever a character is hit they yell or worse let out a scream and moan. When you are hit you cant move on your own for more than a few seconds at times, this made it frustrating. Trying to cast a spell takes time and doing this while fighting off hoardes of enemies just becomes a pain.
The graphics are very good, but the loading times are very very long. When you collect a Triwizard Shield you are immediately taken out of that level and have to sit through more loading times. Worth a rent, but to own, not sure.
