The first God of War was incredible and a blast to play. So when I heard that Sony was coming out with GOW 2 for PS2 I was eagerly awaiting the release. When I finally got the game from amazon, (had to wait a week for shipment even though I ordered it on the 15th) I immediately opened the game and started playing. What I noticed is that the graphics are much better than in the first game, but then that is expected due to the logical advancements in technology in the time between GOW and GOW 2. The gameplay was a little smoother than in the first which was an imporovement but overall the game was not that great. They basically had the same magic as in the first game with none of them really all that great or awe inspiring. The new weapons they introduced were slow and clunky and really forced the game player to constantly use the blades since the opponents moved around a lot faster than you could attack. On top of that the moves for the weapons were so numerous, and in most cases painfully slow, that you'd be hard pressed to remember any of them and I found myself falling back on all the old moves from GOW. The puzzles which were hard but fun to do in the first game were mostly gone and there were not really that many hard battles with the bosses in this game. On top of that the levels seemed short and the overall length of the game was a lot shorter than in the original.
The bonus DVD that came with the game was slightly below awful and really teased you with the fact that there could have been more levels in the game that would have increased the entertainment value. To note the people in the bonus DVD state that this game will most likely be the last for PS2 and it will be a great game to send the system out on. Well all I have to say is that if this is the last game for PS2 they basically killed the system. I was greatly disapointed with the game and will be hard pressed to by a PS3 now if this is the level of games they are producing. My suggestion for people is to wait a while until the prices come down then buy the game. I'm actually considerig buying an Xbox 360 now just to play better more involved games.

Não há palavras para mensurar a maravilha que é esse jogo. O primeiro realmente era bom, mas God of War II vem pra mostrar pq vc ainda não precisa de um console da "nova geração".
Tudo no jogo é espetacularmente bem feito e pensado.
Awesome

This game left off where the first one ended. They kept all the aspects that made the first one so epic and made it better. A must buy.
PS2 still has some extra juice in it!!!

I gotta tell ya, i was hearing all this hype and jazz about this God of War 2... i didn't buy into it after i read all the reviews and more and more people kept on ranting and raving about it. It was hard for me to purchase a $40 PS2 Game when there were $60 PS3 games i wanted to buy. I took the chance anyways and i'm glad i did. This game had me in awe the whole entire time. i read this in another review... but i'll repeat it anyways.. " i constantly said to my self... " wow.. that's pretty damn cool ".
The game has some pretty tricky puzzle... it squeezes out all the juice it can get from the PS2 and produces some really impressive graphics... The story line is awesome... and the violence is great!
I haven't played GOW1, so i can't compare it to that.. but... it's a great game and if you have any doubts about it.. put it aside.. cuz you dont want to miss this...
GOW3 PS3!!!!!!! whoooooo hoooooo!

MY HUSBAND WAS SO EXCITED TO RECEIVE THIS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. HE REALLY ISN'T A GAMER BUT LIKES PARTICULAR GAMES LIKE THIS GOD OF WAR 1 AND 2.
THERE ARE A FEW OTHER GAMES LIKE THE SPLINTER CELL GAMES THAT HE LIKES AND WILL PLAY. HE DOESN'T PLAY THAT OFTEN BUT WHEN HE FINDS SOMETHING THAT HE LIKES...HE CAN'T GET OFF IT AND THAT IS HOW THIS GAME IS. ADDICTIVE!

Great game. Just finished it and had a blast doing so. The difficulty level is just right. Some tough spots, but nothing that made me throw a controller. The cut scenes are unbelievable.
GOW 1 was fantastic, they improve on it quite a bit and made me look forward to GOW 3.
This is a must have for any gamer.

Without writing HUGE details of this game, because frankly, there is too much to even begin the list, I will say, this is the baddest game I have ever played...period. The character development, story line, weapons, moves, creatures, graphics, are amazing.
If you want to see the scaled down movie version, try renting the movie "300", but even that doesn't show how much fun God of War 2 is.
As I describe it to my friends, this is the only game where you actually feel like you'll beat any creature that you come up against because your character is that brutal.
You don't need to, but I highly recommend playing God of War first to get the story line down and to gear up for God of War 2. I honestly thought nothing could be better than the original until I bought and played the 2nd one.
If you want to know why so many kids are violent or are messed up from playing video games, this game will explain EXACTLY why. Just remember, it's not real, so don't go around shoving swords into minotaurs mouths... :-)

Lets start out by saying that just because I'm not rating this game AAA does not mean I'm saying its bad. Far from it actually, I'm giving it an 8, or AA, which is described as great. One thing people point to right away is the graphics. They say it has great graphics and I agree, to a point. Yes the graphics are good, but in all honesty its not all that improved from the original, and focuses most of the graphical power and detail on Kratos. Everything else in the game except for the bosses and Pegasus is really lacking in detail, and the bosses and Pegasus still don't look quite as nice as Kratos. Plus, when compared to a game like Shadow of the Colossus the graphics are just enough to stay afloat. The sound effects are good, but the soundtrack is mediocre and repetitive. There is no physics engine to speak of and nothing moves when you touch it, I mean come on, even an old game like Morrowind had that. The control scheme is very solid and feels good. The bosses are cool at first, but the get monotonous pretty quickly. The combos are both cool and effective. Two things I found to be very cool in the game were Wrath of the Titans and riding on Pegasus. The button sequences were nice but its not like we haven't seen it before. This has the core makings of an amazing game, but the lack of details and innovation keep it from getting there. I recommend that you at least try it out.
Same as GOW 1?

WARNING: I HAVEN'T PLAYED THIS GAME ALL THE WAY THROUGH. SKIP MY REVIEW IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ONE THAT'S MORE THOROUGH!
I played GOW1 all the way through, and I loved the game. I even played all the the "challenges of the gods" or whatever they're called. I got all excited when I saw that there was a GOW2 available, so snatched it up right quick. I've had the game for at least 8 months, and I've only played it for a grand total of 15 minutes. It turned me off that it seemed like the same exact game as the first one - at least as far as I had played it. Because of my quickly-onset apethy toward the game, I let my buddy borrow it (who also played GOW1 all the way through and loved it). He came to the same conclusion: same game as the first. You would think that that would be a good thing, and I'm guessing that for some it is... why change what works right? But if you're the type of person who no longer has as much time for video games as you did when you were 16 years old, and therefore are only looking to spend your time on games that will fully capture your attention with its freshness and originality, then try either of the GOW titles. But once you have played one of them, you don't really need to play the other.
