God Hand Rocks!

God Hand's simple mechanics make it a super fun game. The only set back is that the game is incredibly hard even on easy (especially for novices at button mashers.) Overall the game is awesome and any fan of fighting games and obsurd comic relief, this game is for you.

Farewell, Clover. We hardly knew ya...

This is Clover's last video game. They produced amazing games like Okami and Viewtiful Joe. This one might suck, I haven't played it, so ignore my rating, but it is the last game from Clover, which Capcom has disolved. Goodbye, thanks for Okami alone. It's flawless. If more people had thought so, perhaps they wouldn't be gone. Like Arrested Development and Firefly, the good die young.

Terrible controls and interface

I miss Double Dragon and Battletoads. So I decided to pick up this game to make up for all the random street violence I've missed out on in all the new games that came out since.

Well, the camera angles are terrible. I couldn't see what was going on half the time. The movement controls are unintuitive. Tilting left or right on the joystick only makes you turn in that direction. I ended up using the right joystick (the dodge roll) to move around (except forward) for most of the levels. There is also no hint or on-screen arrow telling you where to go after you clear an area. You'll spend time wandering around town until you manage to step into an event and trigger the next part of the level.

The difficulty was already mentioned before so I won't go into detail. Seems like one of those games where the developers program the AI to cheat instead of spending time writing good AI.

In conclusion, this is a very sub-par game and you'd be better off playing those NES classics. However, Clover is a good studio and they tried to fish a dead genre out of the water. The only reason it didn't get one star.

Funnnnnnnn!!!!

I read a review on [...] giving it 3 out of ten. So i was expecting a really bad game, but instead i got a really fun game with some great fighting depth. You can make your on combos out of the moves u buy or find. so if u get tired of seeing the same punch or kick u can change it up. the story is lacking and seems added just for the heck of it. Owning enemies and bosses are fun. And the final battle is intense as hell really got the blood pumping. 2nd play through u can new and more powerful moves. Way better then a 3 at least in the high 7's.

Remember those old 2D games where you just walked down a street and punched the crap out of bad guys? This is one of those games, but in 3D. The combat system is more complex than that of those old beat-em-ups, but the feeling is just the same.

Be warned, though: This is a challenging game. You have to pay attention to your surroundings, and dodging is just as important as beating on the enemies. You might have to do a particular segment/fight a dozen times, but oddly enough, that's wasn't really a flaw in this game for me. Getting better and better at reading enemies and getting better at dodging attack after attack was encouraging for me, and gave the game a real Punch Out sort of feel.

If you want something fun, challenging and somehow fresh despite reminding you of all those old games about punching (and kicking) people silly, God Hand is for you.

I have owned and played every Clover game and this one is the best. Also, there is a reference to Kevin Smith's Clerks, which makes this game that much more awesome.

Over the top and entertaining.

It's cheesy, it's over the top and you can gamble. The entire game is goofy and weird. One of the first scenes is having to beat up a group of baddies with a "KICK ME" sign on your back and one of the basic moves you start the game with is being able to walk up to a downed opponent and stomp his head as many times as you can wail on the circle button. You can build your own combos and earn a bunch of super attacks. Plus the whole this is almost as much fun to watch as it is to play. I'll finish with two words, POISON CHIHUAHUA!

surprisingly addictive

not sure where to start with this one, but I have to admit its oddly addictive. it's a pretty basic fighting game with customizable move sets and some power moves. most of the better moves need to be unlocked and purchased (not a big deal since money's quite easy to come by) but that makes the first time you play the game quite annoying. i actually finished it twice and (so far) and both times i've unlocked MORE moves in the store.
i liked the casino portion- that's where i made the most money and although some people may have criticized the cheesy story line, it's not that much of a deterrent. it's a great game to pick up wherever you left off and be assured of getting out some frustration by beating up multiple enemies without having to remember what the purpose of your 'quest' is!
worth buying in my opinion, but as always, rent first then decide.
