I own nearly every EA sports game...this is the WORST video game I have ever played...I hate it...I played it 10 minutes.

I'll even sell it for $10, email me.

Great Idea just a little far ahead of this Gaming Console

The graphics and design of the game are superb, having Roy Jones Jr. endorse it was a great idea, of course until he got embarrassed by Tarver the other night, and the music is fantastic. However, the game remains light years behind other EA sports titles due to its reliance on "joy stick punching." Though the gameplayer has more control over the fighter, overall gameplay suffers on higher levels because the PS2 controller cannot respond to player commands quick enough to defeat quick opponents. At times, if you dont move the joystick in the EXACT position prescribed by the manual your boxer will simply smile and take a devastating punch to the face. I like the idea of joystick punching but the PS2 is simply not a game console prepared for that level of gameplay sensitivity. Aside from this major problem are smaller ones in which the judges almost always rule for the incumbent opponent in close fights (Roy Jones must have had input on that), and Tiggers redundant round closing remarks becoming increasingly aggravating as the match proceeds. Some more originality is necessary there. On a whole the game is a strong contender in the boxing arena, but I would caution anyone looking to buy it about the game controls they are difficult to master, and the difficulty increases with the age of your PS2. Better controllers are necessary for this game to survive in its current format.

It was fun for a day

1. The soundtrack is limited to hip hop garbage; I thought they should have included a variety. I think the hip hop is probably realistic though since boxing is a ghetto sort of sport. 2. The detail of the arenas is very good but the actual boxing graphics leave something to be desired. The boxers have a rubbery sort of unrealistic look. 3. The level of detail provided for creating a boxer is outstanding. I was able to create a boxer that looked just like me! My friend was laughing when he saw it. Overall, the game is okay but I don't think great. It's the only PS2 boxing game I've played so I have nothing to compare to it though.

This game is whack just like crack!!!!

First of all the analog punch control is basically the opposite of punch control. It constantly pissed me off to the point where I wanted to destroy my PS2. And the selection of the fighters for each weight class is pretty sorry. So if you read this don't waste your money and buy this just steal it. Holla.

first of all kellyb39 is real stupid and i mean that for the remarks that he made. anyway this game is different from previous boxing games. the all new punch mode is very fun. the only thing i dont like is when you knock your opponent down the way he falls i dont like that but over all the game is fun and very competative which is a step up from before. overall this game is fun with a couple of flaws you should go buy it. and the blacks are not taking over

best boxing game ever

the people who rated this game rated it on the music in the game. if you dont like the music it doesnt make the game suck does it? no! This game is the best graphic boxing game i have ever seen. They have many pro boxers to choose from and i think the game is very realistic. so for everyone that reads the other peoples reviews dont listen to them becuase this is a great game.

maybe my hands are too big, but I can't throw out any hooks to save my life, because the stupid analogue controls dont work well for me. The gameplay is also VERY frustrating; guys I just knocked down will come up with incredible flurries to knock me out of commission. yeah right! they should be stumbling over themselves if they just got put on the canvas. All and all, this is one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. If you want something that'll make you want to break your ps2, this is the game to get.

this game is sweet

(...). I'm going to list the CONS to this game first because there aren't many. It took me forever to get on to the Heavy Bag training, but after playing the game a while, I got pretty good at it. Tigger needs to go. My girlfriend asked if his voice was done by Chris Rock, which neither one of us can stand. I was like no, unfortunately, there is another guy in show business that sounds like Chris Rock, pity. It would have been better with real announcers. I like all the training except the Target Mitts. I just cannot get onto that part of it. If the view was from behind the boxer, it would be easier. One more thing I don't like is the total Hip Hop soundtrack. I personally can't stand Hip Hop and Rap, but can tolerate it because the game is sooo good. So, I just turn the music off. The last thing I don't like is the ratings system. You can beat the crap out of one guy and the season ends. Then, come the next season, he is ranked higher than you and higher than HE was the previous season. What's up there? Now, for the PROS!!
Total Punch Control---love it!! They took something they learned from the Tiger Woods franchise and made it work with boxing. I love how you can super-fast hook and uppercut, although I think the jabs are a little slow. You can control the fighter in just about every aspect, from bobbing and weaving to counter punching. It makes the game ALOT more fun because it is so much more challenging than the pitiful Knockout Kings. The graphics are really good, I mean REALLY good. It's awesome how they show the fighters in their corners between rounds and you see the progression of their faces getting all tore up from the previous round. The one thing I do like about Tigger, is his reaction when a fighter gets cut. He's like OHHHH!!! HE'S BLEEDING NOW!!!! One last thing, if you are looking for a game that you can get your money's worth, this is it. All the EA Sports games are worth it. The developers of these games are actually trying to justify selling a game for $50. While all others fall short, miserably, especially 989 Sports. Play this game, you will love it, unless you suck at games!! >:^D
