I played the Japanese version of this game with great expectation as a horror game fan and it turned out to
be a nice horror game but has some flaws.
The director of this game was ( He's gone just after making this game) a famous Japanese film director. ( See for the " Royal Battle" - Mega Hit film in Japan ) So the game goes with horror
movie narative style. Blood gores are everywhere and the graphics
are Kodak film tone .
THe problem is- This is too much horror movie , not the game.
The girl is chasing by the monsters or freaky ghosts
and that's so scary. But she doesn't have any means to fight back but to run or hide. Well, in the end of every stage, she has the chance to fight against the ghost. But tha's not so
challenging and even boring.
Overall, this game is so scary and makes your heart beating by the frightness. But as a game itself, it needs some more.
So you'll see what I'm trying to emphasize.

Clock tower 3 isnt a bad game- but it's not really a good game either. The graphics are top notch, some of the best on the ps2, and the cinemas are incredible. However after an hour or so into the game, the tedium sets in. get this key, open that, hide here so the monster (called subordinates) wont see you, use this item to fight off the monster, etc. There are some frightening moments and for sure this game earned it's Mature rating, but the puzzle solving and the game itself could be completed by the most inexpercienced gamer, as long as they know to check each room throughly. The orginal clocktower for the ps1 was an awesome game, but the two sequels don't live up to the series' promise. The control is bad, and the boss battles are easy and repetitive. I am about 3 hours into the game right now and (I think) am about half way through. Rent it just to see the graphic cinemas, and the story is down right disturbing (albeit it doesn't make a bit of sense), but don't buy it.
Better than the first two...

I wasn't sure what to expect upon buying this game. The first two were good, but nothing that could be considered classics. But when I started playing this game, I found that is was fun and interesting. Sure it does have a few problems, and the game is shorter than most other games. But in the end, I had a lot of fun playing this game. Clock Tower 3 is defienitly a step up above the first two. But will this game become a classic? Probably not. But, if not worth buying, it's at least worth renting.
Best Game Of 2003!!!!!!!!!

Clock Tower 3 attempts to scare you with jumps and creepy settings, let me tell you , it does. The games' scare factor is way up there. I've played the Silent Hill games. Tower 3 is 10x scarier. The Silent Hill games tell you when the monsters are coming and they're slow. But Tower 3, you don't know when to expect something, and the monsters will chase you down like they're track-runners.
Some of the puzzles are quite hard, mind teasing, or just plain simple. Like helping the ghosts, the things they need are usually right in front of where they're standing. They could just go and pick it up themselves. But some require a little bit of thinking. Spoiler Alert~ On one of the puzzles you find a slip of paper that tells you "BAD". Then Babe "1014" and Dead "3403". B is 1. A is 0. D is 3. Which is the combination for a locked box.
The graphics surpast that of the PS2 capabilities. Some can look realistic. Only here and there are some glitches. No slow-downs though. It goes right up there with Silent Hill 2 graphics.
The difficulty level isn't to bad. Some boss battles can take a while to beat, but not forever. Not more than 5 tries mostly. It's still fun to fight the boss even if you die, unlike most games where you get bored.
This right now is my favorite game. I suggest, if you looking for action, suspense, survivor, and horror gaming. This is your game.
It's OK But Nothing to Write Home About

I for one do not like "boss battles," so I was happy that they were very easy in this game. Other than holy water, your character is not equipped with any weapons, (except during boss battles where she gets a bow and arrow). While it was not difficult to beat the Final Boss, it did take a long time to do so, so you'll find your patience wearing down and boredom setting in.
There were times when the "hide from the bad guy" scenario of the game was more *annoying* than spooky, cool, or novel.
The "hide from the bad guy" game play is an interesting concept to be sure, but once you've hidden your character -- having to wait for the baddie to show up and make his rounds and disappear so that you can continue to search about and hunt down keys and other objects -- becomes monotonous, and seems pointless after awhile.
I have since beaten the game once, and so far the only rewards that are unlocked have been a 'theater,' in which you can review any of the game's cut scenes, and a ward robe in the game from which you can dress the main character in other outfits.
What I was really hoping for after beating the game once through was a weapon to use on 'regular' baddies, but no such luck. Especially frustrating is that one new outfit (that you gain after beating the game once) comes with a knife, but you cannot use it -- it's merely for looks!
I was also annoyed at how this game took elements from other movies and games. I saw things from the games 'Silent Hill' and 'Eternal Darkness'. One bad guy looked suspiciously like 'Darth Maul' from the Star Wars film.
I've played many survival horror games over the past 2 -3 years, and I wouldn't say that Clock Tower 3 is a bad game. You may enjoy it at least once through. However, I'd say that this game was a little on the boring side.

Hmmm... I saw the cover and it reminded me of my favorite game (See below). So I jumped in with both feet only to be mildly disappointed and not very entertained. This game is OK to play. Very repetitive... run from monsters, hide, look, run from monsters, hide, look, run from monsters, hide, look! Imgaine my shock to find out that there really are only 4 bosses and the game is over. Even for the most basic of ammateurs, total game time is about 10 hrs which isn't worth it for me. The puzzles (can we really call them that?) are super-simple. Don't get me wrong, I like not being stumped at some stupid puzzle which prevents me from progressing through the game but here, I didn't even have to think. You can't go into the wrong place in this game... the game won't let you. If you are exploring the bottom floor of a building, all the doors will be locked except the one you are supposed to go through.
The music here is NOT frightening.. more annoying than anything else. I played this game in one day so it's not worth $. I wasn't scared. Now for a scary game, play Fatal Frame. That game scared me to death and I could not play it on my own. THAT's WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT THERE!! WHOA! I will NEVER forget the weekend I played Fatal Frame. My boyfriend had to sit next to me while I played that. Silent Hill I & II were great but Fatal Frame wiped them out easily.
I am confused by the person who said this was the best game in 2003. Please, get out more and play some other games.
Here's the problem with this game: I don't hate it but I don't love it either. It's only OK. And for the prices of games these days, it's really not worth it. If you must, rent it out but save yourself some monet and get Fatal Frame!
very very irretating game!!!!

You play as fifteen to be Alyssa. A teenager girl who unwillngly became one of the Rooders, a family swore to protect against entities who sole purpose to turn the world into a darkness. The graphics are very cool and the game play is similar to other Capcom adventure games (i.e. Resident Evil). It doesn't take lots of brain to solve the puzzles but the irretating part is you must avoid the monsters during the process. I say irretaing because you can not run away from the mosters every time you open a door you face the mosters and even with running away they would follow you. You can use hidden places or evading points to skip the monster grips but once you leave the room the moster will follow you leaving you no joy playing the game. The only thing you can do is to solve the puzzles while the monster sniffing around little Alyssa behind. Don't buy this game if you don't like running away and if you have a short tember.

I couldn't wait till this game out when I saw the cover and once I rented it to check it out I became very annoyed that you have to run away all the time from the monsters and you have no weapons to fight with except for holy water but that doesn't kill them. The graphics are fairly good but the box looked better... but unless you like playing whimpy girls that run and scream all the time then this is the game for you
Wtf is this??

I thought clock tower 1 was really freaky, about a homicidal killer on the loose. It just had a very dark and grim psychotic feel to it. The story of it was so real, because it's something that could really happen in real life. So I was really excited to hear Clock tower 3 was coming out.
When I first saw it, it was interesting. Then the game continued... I couldn't believe it was the same game! It was awful! I've never seen such a disgraceful sequel! Where did all those mystical powers come from?? Alyssa reminded me of sailormoon bringing out her magic wand to fight her next demon, but in this case, a bow and arrow. It was the cheesiest and lamest survival horror I've ever seen. I was so disappointed. I was ready to see a twisted ending like you would in Clock tower 1 or 2, but instead, you see a load of stinky cheese.
I have to give credit to the CG. The CG animation was very nice. But other than that, this game was just so disappointing. I hope to never witness this act of bad sequelness again! Especially for survival horror game.
