At first the games overall feel will seem a little frustrating and thats because you might be coming off of Burnout 3 which doesn't neccesarily play different but feels different. Revenge just takes a few minutes to get used to, especially now since you can harpoon traffic at your leisure.

My only gripe is that the menu options for single player is now just WORLD TOUR and i cant access a sub menu for Crash, Racing, Time Racing, or my favorite, Road Rage. Instead, single players can only play world tour events (from what i can gather in my 2 hours of playing) whereas the coop or multiplayer menu will allow users to jump into crash or road rage without cycling through world tour to find it.

The action however is INTENSE and the racing has never been better. The games other new approach to the series (besides hitting the same direction traffic) is air. Revenge is now so fricking AIRBORNE and jump crazy its unbelievable. The course layout allows you to make alternate routes that result in hang time air, and a new takedown called "threat from above" or something allows you to land on cars!!! yep, and i have done this a few times, so it isnt hard, just plain fun.

While it isnt a vaste improvement over Burnout 3 (hell Burnout 3 was fricking ingenious and perfetc in my taste) Burnout Revenge does manage to capture my heart in the same way. Don't be fooled by any negative criticism, because i read at either IGN.com or gamespot.com that the abilty to crash into traffic without you yourself crashing is not the greatest, BUT IT IS!!!

IGN said something like "the Burnout series captivated people with its intense speed and break neck action of zig zagging through traffic with intensity level dropping the moment you hit a car doing 200 mph; and that this fear of crashing made the racing really intense." And while thats true, Revenge's main focus is more on road rage level than a racing level. And thats why it differs from Burnout 3, so keep 3 handy when you want that exhilirating rush (but remember crashing is still very possible in Revenge; I crash more into walls and turns and pillars in Revenge due to the incredible course layout rather than traffic).

Rocks - just get it

BR has a gold and brownish tinge to it that makes it look more realistic than B3. While B3 felt like a crash game with some racing, BR feels more like a racing gaming with some crashing and a lot of aggression. At this level the game is more satisfying than B3 since racing games at their core are about racing. Added this year are hidden pathways and the ability to take out traffic in front of you and send cars and vans flying into other cars. This ability allows you to simply take out your aggression. Tracks are laid out beautifully with the ability to catch air with ramps. Simply put, there is little need for other racing games.

Burnout Revenge is the most fun I've had playing a video game since a looooooong time ago. Now Here is my pro-con breakdown.
Pros:First off, Great new menu interface

Sweet cars

HUGE JUMPS!!!

lengthy

tons of fun in 2 player splitscreen

Traffic checking: now you don't have to avoid all traffic,
because now, you can hit cars going in the same direction as
you and use them as weapons to hit other cars!!

Great new crash mode. As long as cars keep hitting your
pile of cars, you can make your car CrashBreak(explode to
create more damage)unlimited times.

Shortcuts in the new race courses

RoadRage events(events where you try to ram other cars off
the road) are back!!!!!!!!

Great soundtrack featuring Fall Out Boy, The Bravery, LCD
Soundsystem, The All-American Rejects, and CKY

Incredible sense of speed

Cons:Some race events are exact repeats of earlier races, just
harder to win

Some medals in burning lap events are hard to get

In the air, wind blowing can make you make of miss your
target

Yikes, now that's fast.

So I'm a huge fan of Burnout: Takedown, and I'm initially eyeing this release as suspect - it's either going to be the same game, or they're going to add some new element that's going to suck.

But no, basically they've made the best arcade racer, ever.

While Takedown gave you a sense of speed, this game makes you feel like wetting your pants. It feels so fast, it's crazy.

The additions to the race modes (traffic attack and racing with the detonation feature active during aftertouch) work well. Being able to slam into traffic from the rear was a bit hokey to me for about 11 seconds, then it was just that much more coolness thrown on top of everything.

I'm giving this game 4 stars ont he PS2 platform, as the music just outright blah blah blah - it's largely unimportant, at least takedown had a track or two that stood out. Unlike the XBox version, you can't have your own tracks, so you either turn it off or you're stuck listening to it.

SICK!!!

Burnout revenge is some hot game. Shunting, slamming, and most of all, Taking Down is just the start of this game, but if you crash, the REVENGE begins. Race mode is the lease of this game,
but other modes(that I didn't play yet) is the seat of destruction. BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!
The soundtrack is coming in two days.

NOTE:Too bad I only played the demo on Madden 06, but I will buy it.

That whistling sound you hear from above you? INCOMING SPORTS CAR!!

When EA released Burnout 3: Takedown, the game took the world by storm with its high-speed graphics, more advanced level of racing thanks to the addition of Takedowns and several new racing modes such as Road Rage and Crash Junctions. So how do you take the game of the year from 2004 and make it better. Ask EA because they did it with Burnout: Revenge.

Burnout: Revenge is like Takedown on some serious steroids with a side of caffiene. The game is ramped up several major notches to give it a feel that makes it more advanced and more fun than Takedown. One of the biggest new additions to the game is called Traffic Checking, where you can take your car and literally plow through traffic that is going in the same direction as you are and send them flying into oncoming traffic
or other racers causing a Takedown (and adding on to your Boost Meter). This also helps in a new mode of racing know as Traffic Attack, where plowing through the traffic and using it as a weapon can earn you serious cash.

The additional ranking system is based on how well you perform in the events of Revenge. Each race has a 4-star rating system that increases or decreases dependent on your race performance, so if you score an Awesome rating and get a gold medal in the event your rating will advance to Perfect (5 stars)but conversely if you get an Awesome but you finish with a bronze medal your rating will decreaseto 3 stars.

New features include brand new Takedowns including the extremely tricky Vertical Takedown (your car goes airborne and lands on top of a rival car), a hot new collection of cars to collect (including a very special car that you get if you happen to have Madden 06 save data on your Memory Card), all cars are equipped with Crashbreakers and can now be detonated if you crash during a race for some serious payback, a revamped Eliminator race that causes the last place finisher to be destroyed every time the clock reaches zero, a new ranking system that is marked by the stars that you earn during the game, and more.

This is the game that Gran Truismo WISHES it could be. If you find yourself wanting to take out a little aggression due to that little bit of road rage that you hold within...then it's time to take out some serious Revenge!

Even your dust will be eating your dust!!

So I walk into the Base Exchange yesterday and I saw every gamer's dream, a $50 game that some careless worker had mispriced for only $19.95!!! It was just lying there and all the other copies of Burnout: Revenge were priced at $49.95. I quickly snatched it up and ran to the counter and smiled in glee as the cashier was forced to give me a $30 dollar discount even after the game was rung up at $49.95....

My body quivered in excitement as I loaded the game into the PS2 that had recently been only used for a few quick battles of DBZ: Budokai 3 and NFL 2K5. I lost track of everything that was happening around me after that moment.

This game is incredible. The cars are just beautiful and it's amazing how the PS2 handles the details of the car and scenery flying by at 200 mph with such great clarity. The scenery even reflects off your paint beautifully! The speed in this game is represented to such perfection that I found myself leaning where I wanted to turn and cringing in pain and feeling the adrenaline pump through my heart everytime I crashed into a wall or large 18wheeler that just wasnt getting out of the way. Flying through rush hour traffic and knocking everyone out of your way, catching major airtime on bridges on a mountainside before crashing down on an opponent and taking him out of the race, zigzagging through alleyways and interstates at such breakneck speeds until your goosebumps get goosebumps, causing a 30 car pileup at one intersection before blowing up and causing another 30 car pileup at another intersection!!...it's crazy and all represented here!!

All the Midnight Clubs, Gran Turismos, Fast and Furiouses, and Mario Karts could not have prepared me for this game. The only drawback is not being able to turn off the ability to knock cars out of the way that are headed in the same direction as you. It would be nice to have this option just to add a little more challenge to the game at times, but it in no way takes away from the fun of the game. You will still crash and it will still bring a tear to your eye when you do. This game just focuses more on racing and trying to make everything else around you crash!

-Multiple modes of play
-Beautiful Cars
-Crashes and pileups that will bring a tear to your eye
-Multiple types of takedowns including the Revenge Takedown and Takedown from Above
-SPEED that will have your eyeballs screaming for moisture
-Shortcuts that arent the same ol drive through the woods
-Scenery and detail that will give you whiplash
-Earthtones and blacks that provide the game with a sense of "heat" really adding to the rush of travelling at high speeds

If you're still reading this review instead of going out and getting this game, you're missing out!! Whats wrong with you???

The best "Burnout" game for some time.

Oh my god, this is a very good game. It is very explosive, fast and furious. When I play, I can't believe in my eye I am in that kind of aggressive driving. I have to crash and blow it up for points. Oh my, what a game it is. For the graphics, it is very good and is better than Burnout 3 especially the crashing and blowing scene. It is even realistic. For the game play, I don't have to tell you, right? Also, for the sound effects, it is excellent. Enough talk! Good game and you have to get it.

I like, ownze this game

Wow. An awsome sequal to Burnout 3. This is one of my all time favorite raceing games.

Pros:

Blowing up your rivals when they take you out.

Plowing threw trafic and nailing your rivals from behind with a taxi.

Beautifull tracks

Awsome graphics.

Cons:

The music 5uck5, turn it off.

Camera gets shakey when boosting.

The new launch bar in crash mode is stupid, getting a fast launch is next to impossible.

The cheering in crash mode can get on your nerves.

All and all an awsome game for anyone into raceing. get this game now.

Plowing through traffic is always fun!

Oi, just when you thought burnout was at it's height EA pushed it up a notch more!! Yet, the same good formula that made this game so addictive is still here! Theres something that makes you just smile as you rearend a mini van while driving at 160+ What are you doing reading a review anyways! You know this game kicks butt!! After a frustrating day commuting to work nothing like bashing a few cars to let the steam off! The only annoying thing I kinda found was the golf like swing turbo thing to make your starts on crash stages is a bit glitchy. I tend to blow my car up half the time....But, it's better than the annoying grab boosters that were half ass placed in Burnout 3.....
