Outdated graphics, 4+ years and still buggy, overcrowded and lag filled servers. UO was good for its time, but its time has long passed, it belongs in the bargin bin at your local K-Mart. 4+ years of development and still the most bug filled online game out there, I would give this one a miss and try Everquest, or Dark Ages.

What are you doing there, that you are not playing the game. This is the baest online game of the history and I garante to you. Every one that you see on the game with the exceptions of the NPC's, are another person in another computer online. And you can chat with them, make real friends and even get married if the other person want to(I never saw that happened). But you get a job and be a respectable citizens or if you want you can go in advetures between cities and mountains. Resuming you have the fredom to do and be what ever you want... Of course that this is not free you have to sign up and pay something about $ per mounth, but it is worth it, I garante it...

The best of all the online games for the PC...

...that includes Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 arena. This game blows the competition away. This game is so DEEP. What makes it have such depth is the ability to chose the path your character takes. Start out in a town, develop your skills on the lesser creatures, than move up to stronger ones. Or practice magic and destroy your enemies with fireballs from your hands. Or perhaps you wish to become a merchant, a tailor or blacksmith are two excellant choices. Endless adventure awaits your character as your form alliance with other real people playing the game, hundreds are playing right now. Those people you are walking by are not NPCs but are actual people sitting at their computer. Soon you may find your self joining a guild of warriors. From then you can wage war against the other guilds, and enter the best part of the game, Player vs Player combat, or rather PVP. Victory in PVP in one of the sweetest moments. Here is where you truly test your skills. Duengeons and Dragons await you, all you have to do is log on.

Boring, repetitive, pointless RPG

This is, by far, one of the worst MMORPG's... ever. First off, the graphics are ridiculously bland--and any animation that isn't part of the 'walking' sprite sequence looks horrible. The battle animations are slow as molasses. The background music is comprised of poorly timed midi files that play sporatically. Sure, this may just be the look and feel of the game, and you may think that you can ignore that and enjoy what may appear to be a perfectly good RPG, but there's more to it...

The battle system is just as bad. There is no EXP. Every time you use a skill, there's a chance of randomly increasing its power as well--as the intensity corresponding stat (There are three: Strength, Speed/Endurance/Dexterity, and Intelligence.) If you want to play as a mage, know that this game won't be that fun. The magic spells don't bring any fun to the battlefield (all of them are simple 2-or-3-frame animations that lack excitement, and they tend to fizzle when you need them the most--there's nothing more annoying than trying to cast a spell and failing continuously.) You have to pay for spell components (which makes it hard to make much of a profit), and the spells that you cast deal insignificant damage at a very high cost of mana. I've had to run away from enemies--even in the newbie dungeon when my magic stats were high--because I didn't have enough mana to finish them off. Even when your stats are at their highest, it is clear that spellcasting is more intended for support and healing rather than offense--which makes it very hard to play as a dark mage, especially since all others can learn magic too. The easiest way to gain mana and raise your INT is to click on a horse again and again and again--a boring, painstaking sequence. There are other similar ways of non-combat 'levelbusting', but all of them just prove that the game is a complete waste of time.

There are a lot of other skills out there, too. Many of which are completely useless and serve no purpose in the game.

You can play on a free private server if you stumble across one of them, but the fact that it's free doesn't make the game any better. I'd rather pay and be entertained than to bask in redundance for free.

All in all, this game has very little to offer. I got sick of it after a few days, and now see no reason in ever playing it again. Don't waste your money--there are far better games out there than this one.

While this is the same version as "The Second Age", 2nd Age would just require a download/patch. This is a must buy. It continues the excellence of the Ultima Line, and with the new in-game changes, it has become MUCH more beginner friendly, without detracting from the game.

If you are just starting this game and trying to make a mere living off of whatever proffesion you selected you will probably not fel this way. But if you do manage to get enough money for a house then you will see what I meen, especially if you had the Second age version. My friends and I waited over two months so we could place our houses that had been sitting in our bank box for who knows how long. FINALLY, the day came when the it started updating. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy until I logged on and discovered that the patch haddent even been applied to the shard (server) I was playing on! This was cool, maybe just another day and I could place my house.But NO I hd to wait another TWO WEEKS before the patch was applied. I was soooooo happy when I found this out. I tried to place my house but LORD BRITISH declared a no house build time. COME ON! people waited so long for the new patch, then they had to wait longer for the patch to be applied to there shard. And one of the whole reaseons for the new patch was more house placeing room! Geeeez Origin systems has problems and they will do it again, this is only one example, from what I undrstand people waited just as long for the 2nd age patch. But still, overall it is a really good game.

This game is an insult to all PC games. There are no quests and no point to it at all. Plus u need to pay a server ounce u get it. (if your lucky you might find a free server.) Basicilly if you want a cool fantasy game with knights and magic go get Diablo2 because you'll enjoy it much much more!!!!
