I am an active SWAT sniper with the secondary duty of maintaining my department's computer network and individual systems. Note that you need a solid system to play this game. My AMD Athlon TBird 1.2 GHz / 128MB RAM / Abit 64MB GeForce2 MX400 video does fine. I expect the reviews complaining of bugginess, poor graphics, etc. simply are from systems in need of serious upgrade or just have some unusual incompatibility issues. I have played the RS series to death and love it. The improvement I see in the GR demo is the ability to prone out and low-crawl, the threat of enemy frag grenades (I found that the hard way!), and even more immersive background effects. I loved hearing the near-misses of enemy bullets hitting hard objects close to me. That will get your attention! Certainly, it's not a perfect game, but after all, it IS a game! I have been highly impressed with these products. I'll be getting the full version of GR and GR:Desert Siege with my next paycheck! I don't know about the mission planning aspect... I haven't figured it out in the demo yet. Based on the other reviews, it sounds to be more flexible on-the-fly, which is great, but nonexistent pre-planning, which is not-so-great. Oh, well. You just can't have it all!

Wonderful

I'd only like to address a few of the negative things that others have said, I agree with all the positive.
First, the initial release is unstable, but download the patch and that problem is solved.
Second, the game does have very steep system requirements if you want to run it at the highest levels, but it is worth it.
Lastly, it is realistic, but I think that in its realism, it becomes more fun, not less. I personally don't think that it is all that fun to charge a group of enemies, get shot ten times, still live, and kill them all. I much prefer this game, where one shot will probably kill you, but also your enemies.

Overall, a must buy, if you have the hardware and the love of realistic FPSs.

Great fun suffers because of kit restrictions

This game is a lot of fun, and is excellent when it comes to sound, graphics, and gameplay. The only problem is that you are only allowed 1 weapon and 1 item, where as in Rogue Spear you are allowed 1 weapon, a secondary weapon, and 2 items. Also, if you run out of ammo, which is unlikely but possible, you cannot pick up dead soldiers' weapons. Your man becomes helpless.

But I've been dwelling on the bad part of this game. This really is one of the best games I've ever played and is well worth the price, especially for the internet play.

Anyone giving this less than 5 stars needs help

Read anyone of the reviews for Ghost Recon on this site, that show less than 5 stars, and you know that these people are the ones that are NEVER happy with anything. This game is soooo cool, and yes it sounds like I'm fan boy material...but this pretty much says it all...lots of replay value with quick battle options...and the multiplayer internet has been smoothed out to real fun.

One of the best

Lets start off with the fact that for Ghost Recon to run smoothly, and nicely on your computer you must have a good computer in every way possible. Not just a good video card, but that helps, you will probebly need a pentium 4 1.6Ghz, around 700mb of RAM, and a 64mb video card. I'm saying this becuase my pc meets or beats all of these features and I had never had a bug, the graphics were startilingly wonderful, not flawless but name me a game that is, the sound is superly realistic and the game play is one of the best you will ever find. There has been some complaints on the fact you don't see the hands and arms in the action mode but they seem not to realize that this game deals with the elite branch of the military, and that the view is actually coming from the scope of the weapon. Thats why you can "zoom in and out" with the gun. Though, I'm lost on the fact that with handguns, grenades, or bombs of some kind you still don't see your hand or weapon (though you cannot zoom in and out) even though there is no scope, a problem that should have been addressed though a problem that does not diminsh the fun factor of the game. The problem I found with the game was the fact the environment was very not interactive. You can't pick up an assualt rifle from a fallen enemy when you ran out of bullets, you can't drop weapons, and you can't pick up bullets hidden away in enemy bunkers for your weapon. This is the only thing that I believed the makers should have focused on. Also, the fact that their is only 15 missions which go by rather quick. I just ordered Desert Siege and am looking forward for it to arrive.

Awesome FPS that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I just got Ghost Recon about a week ago and so far i have not bee disappointed. I run the game on a pentium III 866, with 256 mb ram and an Nvidia 32 mb card and it runs well. You do not need a powerful computer to enjoy the game. The gameplay is awesome from the graphics to the sound.Im on level three and i cant stop playing the game. I recommend it to anyone that likes RTCWolfenstein and Medal of Honor.

Awesome game- buy it today!

This is an awesome game. It is totally addicting and challenging. The only downfall is the games graphics. If you are coming over from playing Quake 3 Arena, you will be a little dissapointed. However, the game is totally fun despite the graphics seeming to be a generation behind.

Simply The Best Game I Have Ever Played Since Rogue Spear

Before Ghost Recon came out, i had beaten the whole series of Rainbow Six (thats right, the two original, covert ops, rogue spear, urban ops, and black thorn). I got kind of bored. And then, one morning i logged on to Gamespy arcade and saw a new demo for ghost recon. I downloaded it and was very fun. When i finally got the game, it was the hardest game that ubi and redstorm had ever made before. Missions took up to 45 minutes, and more than 3 reloads on each. When I beat the game after about 6 months, i tried cranking up the skill. And boy did that make a difference. And for all those people who think the game is easy, think again. And when you crank the sound all the way or put headphones on, it sounds like you are really there. Gun shots, footsteps, talking, birds chirping, you name it. You can hear every sound you would think you would hear. I would highly reccomend this game to all players of the Rainbow Six Series, Renegade players, or just about anyone who enjoys playing single and multiplayer first-person shooter games.

In the Past I have never really had a first person shooter Pc game. The only game I had in which I shot at anything was Medal of Honor (for Playstation). This on added the extra Feature of being able to switch from one team member to the other. This and the very realistic graphics made this one in a video game league of its own.
