can't we all just agree that rogue spear is the god of squad based shooters? No multiplayer? what's up with that?
Excellent game, but a little bit unrealistic.

This game actually rocks relative to its predecessors. SWAT 3 is basically the combination of first-person shooter and strategy game. Unlike Delta Force, you don't get to shoot around very often in this game.
The best part of this game is that you can command and give instructions to your teammates. They are in fact doing a great job in following your orders. You can tell them to cover you or you can tell them to breach and bang a room before you enter it. When you don't give them orders, they intelligently move and do their own actions.
The second best part of this game is that the enemies and hostages are positioned at different places for everytime you play the mission. You will never know where they are, so you have to be extremely careful. This excellent feature gives you a great feeling that this game is not monotone.
Graphics is second-to-none and sound effects are excellent. This game is so realistic such that if you see yourself in the mirror, your character can actually BLINK! Furthermore, if you shoot one of your teammates, the other guys are going to hunt you down and shoot you in the head.
However, there are several drawbacks. The most unrealistic part is that your weapons are invincible. Secondly, windows and mirror don't break. The worst part of this game is the lack of multiplayer support.
Overall, SWAT 3 is probably one of the best first-person shooter games.

SWAT 3 CQB is a good game. But it is not the same with Rainbow 6.You can't make an assault plan before starting the mission. But you give commands to the other team members during the mission. The enemy Al is very good. They can hear your foot steps or something like they can feel you are there. When you enter a room all bad guys turn their guns at you and screams while bursting their bullets at you. Graphics are very good. They are similar to the 3D shooter graphics. It is easy to play.Sound effects are very good especially when you are in dynamic mode. Not as realistic as R6 but it has lot of fun in it.Breaching the doors, throwing flashbangs or gas bombs, shouting at suspects to drop their guns and up their hands.Weapons and equipments are very good. But the worst part is there are only 16 missions in the game and two mission takes place in the same building. You can play each mission in single mission part and when you start the Career mode playing the same missions is alittle boring. The game itself a very good one and don't miss it.

I, like many others, are used to playing Rogue spear and Unreal tournament and half-life type games. So I wasn't too sure if I should get this game or not. Every reviewer said it was hot stuff! So, I took a gamble and bought it.
I have a 450 MHz with 128 MB of RAM and a VooDoo 2 card - the game works well and smooth. no complaints about that.
however, it's really different from those other shoot em' up games. For one, you don't just go in and shoot people like mad. It's like there's hostage situations and kidnapping situations and you have to rescue people and stuff. The bad guys are really sharp shoooters though - that's what I didn't like. They shoot really good and your back up guys are really dumb sometimes. Like when you tell them to throw a flashbang, sometimes they'll throw it on the wall and it'll bounce back at your team.
Oh yeah, another thing was the play is different from those other games I mentioned. First off, it's not you go and shoot people up. You're actually a leader of a team of 4. You tell them what to do (ex: like open door, flash bang the room, mirror corners, clear room, etc..) and you do it by pressing the #1-9 on your keyboard. So you don't actually get right into action - your team does, But you can move and shoot and participate if you want. But like I said, your partners aren't the brightest.
One thing I didn't like was that some of the missions take FOREVER! Like there's this sewers map and it is SOOOOOo long and hard. It'll take you at least 40 minutes to complete it. That map is so big and hard! And one annoying thing was that I had to rescue some hostages, but this ONE LAST HOSTAGE was hiding in this really obscure spot and I couldn't find the guy. I had to literally go inch by inch on every wall and search it. That was so annoying and dumb and it took me forever! Also, if you choose not to kill the bad guys, you can throw like tear gas or flashbang them (useless though!) and you can handcuff them, if they choose to put down their weapons that is. But as the levels get harder, the bad guys don't even put down their guns when you throw tear gas at them or try to scare them by shooting around them. So it becomes a KILL KILL KILL mission as the mission progress's.
It's not bad overall and Sierra is planning to make a multiplayer version for this game, which I know will enhance the game play by 10x! Oh yeah, did I mention this game doesn't have multiplayer? But Sierra is giving out a free download when the multiplayer expansion becomes available in the Fall of 2000.
But I don't think it's worth [the $] though to be honest. Thanks for reading.
Fun at first.........

Swat 3 is a great game. Froom the moment I bought Swat 2 Iknew any other Swat game that came out I must buy. With greatgraphics, sound, replay value, you'd think it would be a perfect game, the only think I dislike about it is this; Swat 3 is supposed to be a realistic game, not a bang bang shoot 'em up. Towards the end of the game, it's not so realistic. C'mon lets take the Tready Convention mission for example, C platoon, (another division of SWAT) just cleared the building and did a bomb search 2 hours earlier(as said so in the briefing). Now for the the most important event in modern world history, you'd think there would be top-notch security, right? Wrong. Somehow, in 2 hours, about 15 armed terrorists have sneaked in and taken over the building. Jeez, I mean stopping a bank robbery, serving high-risk arrest warrents, these all happen, but taking over the LA City Hall and planting a bomb on the top floor? The realistic game suddenly goes from realistic, to shoot 'em up as in the later levels, suspects hardly ever surrender, and will go Kamakizie yelling, charging, and shooting at you. But hey, i never said its wasn't fun. If I could add one thing to this game, it would be a Sniper option. There are certian levels, (Water Treatment Plant) where a sniper could really help if your pinned down. Sometimes, High Ground (snipers) tell might you they see a suspect holding a hostage at gunpoint. Ok, heres an idea, shoot the suspect, isnt that what your for? Snipers are licenced to shoot if there is immenent threat to himself, or somebody else. A little help please. Plus, I know Swat teams work in groups of five, but jeez, i'll be the LAPD would send more than 5 guys into a terrorist ridden City Hall. If you could have some outside help, it would make the alot better. All in all, Swat 3 is an well rounded package, and well worth the $...

I started my 1st person shooter experience with rainbow six, a classic, revolutionary game. Since then, as technology etc... has advanced, I have been looking for a new game in that genre. So at some point i decided to give Swat3 a try, i had never heard of it but the box looked pretty cool. The game is great. good realism, gameplay, sound, controlling your team etc... its downfalls are as follows: choppy (prob because of my computer, not the game), you cannot see your gun, which is very disappointing, the teammates are dumb and like to get shot, and hardly ever shoot back, and the overall graphics of the characters is too cartooney- animated looking. these are some real problems but overall none of these things matter when you are in dynamic mode, stacking up to breach into the next room of armed terrorists. overall its worth the money, but i did get sick of it after a couple months. If only the graphics and good parts of red storm's games (R6 and Rogue Spear) and the good overall gameplay and interface as well as plot of Swat 3 could be combined to form some ultimate 1st person shooter... that would be the best!

I found this game pretty good. Sometimes your partners get in your way and they don't follow your orders exactly. It is pretty challenging. The bad guys are always somewhere different and can be pretty tricky. I like more shooting though(ex:Delta Force2). The game can be a little boring sometimes, but great graphics and a good challenge.

I have to say that this game would be one of the best PC games out there. Now, it is rated Mature, but it could stand a little more Juicing to live up to its rating. For instance, If you shoot a perp, its not to life like. You can however enable the NC17 option, but that really makes it Phoney looking. The blood doesn't look life like at all. It just kinda splatters around the dead perp. But, on the other hand, body movement, gunfire, grafX and game play are pretty intense. You find yourself cursing it out and playing it again and again. This one Rates high on my "Must have" list for all you gamers.
